does anyone have an idea why the vilas aks pack crashes your game to desktop with some weapons?

updated mission - aircraft carrier now works really well and F16's, A10s and F15s have wheel brakes so can land on carrier.

added arty module to map so paladin arty ammo types should now all work

modified clusterbombs and JSOWs as clustermines and clusterbomb units on F16 JDAM and A10 JDAM versions.

fixed pilot eye cam for new racs cobras

added a lot of defensive works around spawn point

increased enemy count

added new su22 fitter variants in tk_ext

be prepared to work hard! enemy air is merciless!

added a lot of AA missiles (meteors, aim132,s sparrows and phoenix to planes - the F15 and the F16_CAP are real beasts now

added GPS functionality to all planes wielding GBU39, 53 SDB and JDAMs.

full logistics and towing working

M203 chemical grenades and buckshot rounds added (bigdawg)

lots of improved optics for stock weapons

improved damage to SD ammo - no more 30 rounds to kill enemy, so they open up on you stealthily trying to kill them...

try the M9SD or the G36SD or the M8TWSSD or the MP5SD - they are all evil now

modified the M47 Dragon which now acts more like a direct fire javelin. ammo only takes 4 slots now

thermobaric mines (russian MineE)

throwable satchels and mines

added GPS/INS menu to pilots and FAC (sniper class) to call in JDAM/JSOW clusterbomb/mines

updated dingor racs mission:

working on CTD for russian ammo crate

fixed teleport position on LHD

modified air unit arrays (no more paras jumping out of ka50 lol)

fixed czech weapons missing from ammo crate

tested clusterbombs and clustermines on A10/F16 - generally work well

Note: F16's press ctrl-R (countermeasures mode) if the flares don't fire on first rearming plane - this is an artifact of the rearming process

need to work out how to get FAC GPS to work globally

backpacks grow in size from 12 to 24 slots at 2 slots per rank - specop medic and engineer can carry backpacks

throwable knives now up to 10m - retrievable from targets body, or close up 2m stealth kill for4 point bonus

single hand thrown gas nades - fuse distance 0.1

M203 gas nades fuse distance down to 1m

enabled GP25 gas nades (forgot to include them before)

mirage afterburner fixed

some little base fixes

player spawns with S10 respirator, 1 gas nade and a knife (saves you looking for it)

fixed the fuse distances on HEI MG ammo (15m down to 1m - no more shooting people and them not being hurt)

Looking good, only i think 2m is a bit much sinds the knife blow is a guaranteed kill. And a simple animation would be nice too but i guess these are hard to find, maybe the 'axe chop' anim of DayZ could help?

I figured it like this:

close range kill (retains knife in hand)

A range of 2m implies you step up and do the business

this allows for moving enemy and MP desync

longer range kill (thrown knife added to enemy body and removed from your inventory)

from 2 to 10m

it is guaranteed, but you try it when you're NOT the spy class! it's very hard to juggle the menu, right clicking a lot on the enemy etc...

you can almost never get less than 2m from an enemy unless you're undercover, hence the4 point reward!

i've posted in the modeling section about an anim/model for the knife - asking for help.

meanwhile the point anim works ok cos it doesn't require you to slowly switch your weapon (the arma weapon swap is way to slow to manage a stealthy knife kill mod that would work) - in real life you'd take the guy out without him noticing you, but in arma they hear you at very close range unless you're prone. to make it work i added the range, so you can step out from behind a wall and nail them. with your gun on a shoulder sling you could lower it and pull your knife from chest webbing and take the guy then immediately swap to rifle. Doing this in arma would take ages... and probably leave you in gun-down position making firing temporarily impossible...

I don't really understand the order to things in the original post. I'm trying to figure out what missions and mods I need to download, but it's proving more difficult than expected.

My goal is to host this Evolution on my dedicated server but I need to figure out what I need exactly and how to set it up. This seems to be the last and only Evolution available for ArmA2. Hohei Evolution is cancelled until ArmA3 comes out.

panthera map got updated recently and I need to work on the mission so it's not a current priority for matching mods to map/mission etc

if you want to start with our latest map, this would be a good instruction, as all the mods/mission files work fine and have all our latest features enabled (gas/knife/refueling/ etc)

Thank you Egg for the very informative reply. I am running the game with latest beta, JSRS, and JTD (modified) smoke through Steam. I use Tophe's ArmA2 Dedicated Server Tool for my server.

To clarify there is no mod pack (for example a GITS mod archive) that we can download? You may want to consider making a mod pack, or if each map is different then a pack of mods you download with each map. Just a suggestion.

I do not have the ACR DLC. Do I still need the patch in your link even though I have Steam?

Lastly, is there a version of the mission that does not require all those mods? I would much prefer this as vanilla always seems the least buggy and problem prone to my friends and myself. This is why we do not play ACE2. Too many custom features bugs out the game more often than not.

there are unmodded versions in the list yeah, but they're not as up to date with our features/ improvements - i go round in circles fixing up each map/mission version about every 12 months

you need ACR for sure - it will be in the next patch i'm sure but get it anyway - it's stock and does work with steam - it loads automatically like BAF/PMC

the modpack is there - its kept separate as each mission needs some of the same mods

not too many and well worth having

I downloaded GITSEvolutionV32.Chernarus because it seems it works with vanilla. I am looking for a Takistan mission that works with vanilla. GITSEvolutionV14US.Takistan seems to be as close as it gets, but I do not have the "additional mods" @aircraft, @weapons, and @vehicles. I do not know if "additional mods" are required since there is a separate section for "required mods".
