walker 0 Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) Hi all Obituary in PC Pro. http://www.pcpro.co.uk/blogs/2011/10/13/dennis-ritchie-rip/ Without him ArmA, VBS and BIS's OFP would never have existed. Nor would most of the other games you play or indeed most of the internet. Kind Regards walker Edited October 13, 2011 by walker

-martin- 10 Posted October 13, 2011 Rest in peace and thank you for everything you've done to make people’s lives easier and for letting us use computers the way we do today. Its people like him that are the true kings of peace. It’s a shame that not many news networks talk about this, I didn't see anything on the BBC today so I didn't even know until I came to the BIF, but when someone has a sex scandal the news are full of it. PELHAM 10 Posted October 13, 2011 A true genius! RIP. I first encountered Linux 5 years ago and it revolutionised my computer experience. It would not exist without this guy. You will not see his death reported on the BBC, they have a bias for anything Apple and don't like reporting anything about science / technology.

sanctuary 19 Posted October 13, 2011 Sad news, It's impressive how C could have an impact on so many hours of my life, not me coding as i'm just unable to, but me using something that contained C or derivative from it, or was made possible only because C had been invented before. May he rests in peace in a better world.

mrcash2009 0 Posted October 15, 2011 Those paying respects said he was a "titan" of the industry whose influence was largely unknown. Always the way, some people just do what they do and get on with it.
