msy 22 Posted October 6, 2011 (edited) I don't pre-order this game because I'm not interesting in flight game. But please let me express my opinion about the traffic in the game. In this video, I can see the cars like running in the middle of the road and at crossroads I can see cars still advance from every direction one of which should stop to wait for a green signal. What's more, when you fly along the road at low height, I see some cars near you suddenly disappear or appear. Although this is a mainly flight games, but It's background is a city flight, which means players might care about a effect of the city, and the "reality" of the city in the game. If the city looks stiff and dull, or some minor element occurs frequently but often brings some bug or issue, I think many potential buyers and players will pay more attention on thouse details, and get a not good impression. So I think BIS dev. can deal with some city details which might be minor to the flight but important to game experience before the game releasing. The ambient road traffic in the Beta is one of the main features which we're still working on a lot for the full release, including the (de)spawning at the cross roads :)
karstux 10 Posted October 6, 2011 It would be nice if you could convert "ambient" vehicles to "real" cars as soon as the player tries to interact with them. It would be neat to 'bump' random cars off the road, or to stop by touching down in front of them (or shooting at them :)), then steal the vehicle and drive around. I realize the time to release is short, and the suggestion probably unfeasible until then - but maybe it's something you could do later in a patch?
kludger 10 Posted October 6, 2011 The ambient road traffic in the Beta is one of the main features which we're still working on a lot for the full release, including the (de)spawning at the cross roads :) From a flight simulator perspective the traffic is useful for immersion, but I don't think it's a key thing once you are used to it. Like the OP I noticed the disappearing traffic at the intersections thing the first time or two that I did a flight, but pretty soon it blended into the background of immersion things like clouds, trees etc that are there when I am flying, but I hardly notice it now. Cool that you guys are working on it though.
wildone_106 10 Posted October 6, 2011 Its almost like GTA Seattle..almost!;)
Pyronick 21 Posted October 6, 2011 Ambient road traffic would be nice to see in ArmA 3 aswell.
whiskeytango 11 Posted October 6, 2011 Would be nice if traffic drove a course on the roads in elaborate rings so they never despawned or collided. Traffic also clips straight through you. So if you land on the road a truck will happily drive straight through you like a ghost. I don't think thats a huge issue though.

Purely focussing on helo gameplay, not really. But it would be nice if you could assist in car chases and having traffic which follows standard traffic rules like right-of-way, reacting on traffic lights, vehicles with equipped emergency lights, pedestrians on zebra crossings (if any), etc. It takes a lot to implement this though. But it would make an awesome city life simulator credible for police forces to use this as a professional training simulator. And of course one hell of a game. wildone_106 10 Posted October 6, 2011 Another thing, do you potential foresee adding traffic jam simulation because frankly, the traffic was MOVING and for Seattle thats not right either;) heh
