pathetic_berserker 4 Posted September 26, 2011 Col. I'm planning a re-release of my stadium to fix a small bug. It will not affect any island placement you may have done, but if you have any requests regarding it let me know here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=87769

oldbear 390 Posted October 3, 2011 So, you want to build islands, and no continuous terrain? I have a strong suspicion about rivers ... I am having a problem with large inland "rivers" in Arma2, the only river we get are in fact sea water with all effects coming along. The other problem with rivers is AI behavior related to bridge crossing. If the bridge is only one span long as it is on Chernarus bridge, you can get AI crossing, but if the bridge is longer 2 or 3 spans long , the AI is going not to cross, or stop dead just after crossing, so unless you totally need the large river for missions and scenarios purpose, I strongly advised not to plan large rivers on projected terrains/island. Could you tell me if you have get a larger image for the projected Cook town ? Because in all cases, for island as well as continuous terrain, it will be a necessity to get surrounding countryside/ seashore with transition areas all around. That was quite new, didn't know that. Well. Do what you feel is necessary for the map. Make a small river, with one bridge'n stuff. That'll be cool! Can also remake the satelitte map! We'll see about that. First of all is the city itself, when the project is done, I'll take a look at that if I feel like doing that. Thanks for information, and ask as much as you want, mate! Rocks having you, who is a mapmaker veteran, on my team! Edit: YOu can add terrain, but one question; will roads "fit" itself to downwards/upwards? Col. 10 Posted October 4, 2011 (edited) :) Concept "art", MidTown: http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/1144/conceptart1.jpg <- That pic was so goddamn epic I needed to add it here http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/8804/conceptart2.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/8219/conceptart3.jpg ;) Yes, those P44 buildnings are enterable, just on the front then. antoineflemming 14 Posted October 4, 2011 Awesome! Can we bring those buildings down, destroy the whole city (tactically eliminate the enemy)? That looks amazing. Add some more obstacles in the streets, more destroyed cars and stuff, and it'll be set. But, really though, you've done an incredible job so far. BTW, that midtown "art" reminds me of The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Poster :) You should definitely recreate it in ArmA.
Col. 10 Posted October 4, 2011 (edited) Some buildnings will fall down to ruins, some will just fall down in the earth and vanish. Thanks, thanks. Make a poster? We'll see. :D:D More concept: The finance and international hotel, 6th Avenue. Beatiful place, untill the war came, still pretty. http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/2931/conceptart4.jpg http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/5244/conceptart5.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/2521/conceptart6.jpg http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/412/conceptart7.jpg Pretty warfucked place in the midtown. not a place you want to be attacked: http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/5928/conceptart8.jpg <- Ambush from behind, look out for blindways. oldbear 390 Posted October 5, 2011 Main problem, when building what intend to represent an US western town, is that there as so few usable buildings for this purpose in BIS addons and among community build addons. Nowhere can be found the typical flat roofed, dark brown bricks built, 4 or 5 story high featuring the so typical stairs in front ... as shown on Topas pictures. In fact one or two usable for this purpose in Simba's addon ... Most of the usable buildings are having a definite "old" Europe flavour, and I must add a Central Europe one. Most of the ruined buildings are small ones or just rubble monds. There are a few usable skyscrapers, but too often with OFP textures, not matching what we have became accustomed with Arma 2. There is not so much problems with industrial or suburban areas for they tend to look the same all over the world ...
nikiforos 450 Posted October 5, 2011 If possible add some traffic signs and maybe some trafic lights that can add to the atmosphere. Old Bear I understand that there are some problems and Im sure that we will see the best possible result .
bars91 956 Posted October 5, 2011 Looks more like post soviet city then anything else(I know because I live in one) - but seriously this is the best, most realistic looking eastern europe city i've seen in A2 yet(except Taviana ofc). LOL guess it turns out sometimes that you go for something but it turns out something completely different but still awesome! )))

Old Bear; That's true! But collected some addons from old ArmA, and found many good enough stuff who looks american, Simbas buildning pack for instance. aidas2 10 Posted October 5, 2011 Looks great, but I think you should just rename it to some fictional soviet york or smth, because in no way it will ever look like america with these or any other released props. Only custom ones can do it.

oldbear 390 Posted October 6, 2011 After having made a crude terrain loosely built from Atlantic-City features, I had made a test, trying to use all BI and community made addons usable. I am sorry to say that they are so few, I am wondering if it's possible to build a large US town from them. Here a pic : Uploaded with ImageShack.us On the front right BI usable buildings, on the back right and centre, buildings from Charron's pack and on the left those from Simba's. The community made addons are all in beta state, showing errors or missing textures, they don't have destruction models ... but most of all there are not enough middle size buildings featuring a large front variations collection to build a town having the genuine East coast feeling.
