Ran across this: http://www.teamorlando.org/gametech/downloads/2011/presentations/20110323_GameTech_Intro_VBS2.pdf

Scroll towards the end to see the improvements and changes for VBS2 V1.50, I think it might give us an idea of what we might see for A3.

Scuba

Underground spaces

Terrain overall sizes and cell size

Night Vision

Lighting improvements

Window damage

Wounding (gore)

Accurate grenade throwing

Multiple positions supported for firing rocket launchers

It's no secret that vbs2 tech has been added to the Arma games with every release, I can't say exactly what systems Arma1 had but I do remember vehicles such as civilian trucks were originally from VBS1 or 2.

On Arma2 we got VBS2 tracers, drag/carry system and more, in Operation arrowhead we got the FLIR. No doubt Arma3 will have more VBS tech, the question however is what and I'm pretty sure it is going to be a while before we can confirm anything on that.

Funny to know that armies and therefor countries with their respective tax-payers, pay for development of VBS which brings up new features every year, which in return eventually find a way into our game some way or another... *g*

Too bad massive multiplayer fights with combined arms isn´t exactly the key feature of VBS :(

Btw: 100th POST! YEHHHAA (*imagine the yehaa that our beloved Tasmanian Devil shouted when he contacted us for the first time*)
