Addamo's c-130 - getting there

Recommended Posts

Now, if only bis could make a model of ammo or medical pallets or crates that drop with parachutes.

I'd hate to be an enemy on the ground when one of these flies over dropping 92 (C130J) or 128 (C130J30) paratroopers.

yay a real one!

you can do ammo drops with a script biggrin.gif i have one around here somewhere but it looks dumb when a UH-60 sends a chute out with an ammo box in it

it works for other aircraft too, my point was there is an ammo drop script that works but currently all we can do with it is drop stuff out of choppers or cessnas biggrin.gif

but a BIS addon would be a lot nicer, i'm not a scripts person.

just to tell u that the c130 dosent usually carry weapons it only occasionally carries 2 sidewinder missiles but if in enemy territory it would have tornado F3 backup. just some semi useful information

i think that the only weapon that the C-130 carries is the Daisy Cutter, that sould definifitly what its armed with, that and being able to open the rear ramp and drop troops, vehicles, and ammo would be a pretty sweet feature as well

ehhhhn...Wrong Answer!

The prize goes to Pit Viper.

The AC-130 is rather well armed.

2 20mm Vucan Canons

1 L60 40mm Bofors Gun

1 M102 105mm Howitzer

Though for OFP, this would be overkill for anything but cutscenes. smile.gif

I hope for the love of God thats a joke. AIM9 Sidewinders on a Fat Albert? Oh and Avon, the J series isn't cleared for large Paratroop drops yet.

BTW, All pilots know that the Brits have the biggest fighter aircraft in the world!

nimrod_mr2.jpg

Yes we armed it with a pair of Sidewinders! I don't fancy getting into a furball flying one of those. (They were actually armed in the Falklands to nail snooping Argy Boeing 707's that were buzzing around the Atlantic. Multiengine A/A combat! Now theres a concept!

It was developed from the Comet airliner. (The ones that wings kept falling off). And I believe its one of the best ASM/Maritime platforms outthere.

I went on a 7 hour sortie on one of those buggers from RAF Kinloss to Norwegian waters. Believe me, if you get seasick you do NOT want to go near one of those things. 200ft, 2 of the 4 engines off (fuel consumption) swinging from side to side. The pilots get ill often if they go down the back of the A/C for long periods. One O/C who I will not name, managed to fill 8 sick bags, the Navigators bag, a tabletop radar display, and generally everything in sight. I thought it was fun though, all you do is eat!

Meals in order; with obscene amounts of tea and biccies interspered....

Sandwiches, doughnuts, Crisps, Pies and rolls, doughnuts, biscuits, curries, and some cake.... in 7 hours....its wrong!

Their all fat bastards I can tell you! Same for the Herk drivers!

BTW, It can also carry Harpoon, but we didn't bother buying the targeting equipment, so just gets launched in BOL mode. (It goes for the largest radar target), which these days are usually oil tankers. This means you can't fire them until you have visual ident, negating the standoff advantages really. Oh well, I'm not surprised!

Entered Service: 1969 (as the MR1)

Powerplant: Four Rolls-Royce RB168-20 Spey 250 turbofans of 12,140lb st.

Span: 114ft 10in (35.00m)

Length: 126ft 9in (38.63m)

Max Speed: 575mph (926km/h)

Accommodation: Crew of 13

Armament: Internal bay for up to nine torpedoes, bombs and depth charges; Sidewinder AAMs can be carried on underwing pylons for self-defence.

Recognition: Resembles the DH Comet, from which it derived. Long 'double bubble' fuselage with the cockpit built into the steeply raked nose. The fuselage tailcone extends well beyond the fin and rudder to house a magnetic anomaly detector (MAD) unit. The low-set wings are slightly swept on the forward edge. The four turbofans are buried in the inboard section of the wings. Bullet-shaped wing fairings project from the leading edges towards the wingtips. The Nimrod's fin, which has a large dorsal section extending well forward, is surmounted by an elliptical-shaped fairing. An in-flight refuelling probe projects from the fuselage above the cockpit.

Colours: All-over hemp with air defence grey undersides. Last two numbers of aircraft serial worn on nose and tail. No squadron markings.
