mosh 0 Posted February 3, 2011 I use one occasionally for driving. But if you search for XBOX360 controllers, you'll find many more useful topics discussing this... no need for a new one. ;)
dmarkwick 261 Posted February 3, 2011 I bought a 360 PC controller to play Assassin's Creed, and I also tried it out in ArmA2. It's possible to get quite good results flying, although trying to settle on an intuitive control setup is rather hit & miss :D whether to place roll on the same stick as yaw etc.... it sounds obvious but actual gameplay it isn't quite that obvious. However, I never tried using a helo in a combat role, only a recon & transport role. My only recommendation is to try whatever combinations you can think of, and stick with each one for at least a few hours gameplay, and see which one sticks. ArmAriffic 10 Posted February 3, 2011 I don't use a 360 controller for anything, I really hate them
rexehuk 16 Posted February 3, 2011 I use XBOX for Arma 2 and it suits the game fine, for helos or airplanes... Arma 2 flying is Arcade so I wouldn't even bother wasting a stick on it. For arguments sake, I own an X52 also, but that sees no fly time in Arma... feels evil :D.
ziiip 1 Posted February 3, 2011 I tried it for flying, but I quickly realizd that M/KB suits that much better.
avibird 1 155 Posted February 3, 2011 Hi guys, i tried using 360 controller for flying. My problem is i cant seem to map some buttons like manual firing on the controller. Anyone has a good button layout for it? Hey, Go try XPADDER software. Go to xpadder.com it will cost you $10 but you can map every key and mouse fucntion on one controller. It works if you like using the controller like I do!
airborne_1944 10 Posted February 4, 2011 I cant seem to find the button to set on my contoller for firing missiles, rockets. I think the default button is left mouse button. You guys know where it is?
Strykerius 10 Posted February 4, 2011 Hi guys, i tried using 360 controller for flying. My problem is i cant seem to map some buttons like manual firing on the controller. Anyone has a good button layout for it? Just my personal control scheme, I do not know how well it will work for you. But...: Pitch: Left Thumbstick Y axis Roll: Left Thumbstick X axis Yaw: Left/Right triggers Throttle/Collective: Right and left Bumpers Eject: Back Button (Important in my opinion, in case you screw up) Manual Fire: Y Button Flares: B Button Fire: A Button Cycle Weapons: X button External Camera: Right Thumbstick Button Next Target: Left Thumbstick Button Again, this is just my personal scheme. With enough tweaking, you can get the right thumbstick to function as the look. However since I am currently at work, I am running through my scheme by memory and do not remember the full list of controls.

paragraphic l 2 Posted February 5, 2011 I play with x360 controller since Armed Assault for flying and love it. Left thumbstick: Movement - button: Next target Right thumbstick: Looking directions - button: Optic view A-button: Fire weapon X-button: Accept action Y-button: Manual fire B-button: Change weapon Triggers: Throttle Bumpers: Rudder control Back-button: Flares Start-button: GPS D-pad left-right: Scroll action menu D-pad up-down: Auto hover on/off But I do miss Xpadder as I used to have a Teamspeak button mapped aswell. Might purchase it again as I read you can map multiple actions to buttons, pressing vs holding button for example.
