Kep Kelagin 1 Posted May 10, 2002 Hiya, I was just watching The Avonlady's FAQ when I saw a question about the islands... According to this site, the original Cold War Crisis islands are 14Km * 14 Km = 196 Km square. Now when checking The Codemaster Resistance Site , they are saying that the new island will be 100 kms square, wich makes it half the size of the original three islands...Now that would be a bit of a shame Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
-Dogi- 0 Posted May 10, 2002 from what i understand and recall, the islands are 12.8x12.8km(about 163,84km square would be largest land size possible i think, - about a 128-256 meter edge on each of the 4 sides of the island...unless im totally wrong, which is very likely...) large, and remember theres usually sea around the islands too, which cuts them down a bit, so its reasonable to believe that the resistance island will be on somewhat size of malden or so... i hope this answers youre question...if not i sure typed alot of text :/ Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

kegetys 2 Posted May 10, 2002 Go count the actual landscape size from the mission editor of some original ofp island, count the amount of the big squares the island covers (one square is 1,28x1,28km) and you'll notice they are much smaller than 100 sqkm Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Mr ThunderMakeR 0 Posted May 11, 2002 For the original maps, the 12.8x12.8 km refers to the size of the entier map, edge to edge, including the water. For the new Resistance map, the 100 square km refers to actual land mass, not including all the ocean around the island. Hope that clears up any confusion! What can be found on the codemasters Resistance site, and the Bohemia Resistance site is this: "Features a brand new 100 sq. kilometer island" Sq. = square. As in 12.8 * 12.8 kilometers = 163.84 kilometers. I take it the original islands did not have 100 sq kilometers of land, but the new one will. Can we please just drop this now.
