PsychoPigeon 10 Posted December 21, 2010 The thing about Arma is that, it's a terrible game if there's no teamwork. If the rules of the server aren't enforced then it's one of the most boring experiences in gaming history. Now why are there so many clans hosting servers but only have 2-3 members in, some only have 1 member on 2 hours a day, to enforce any rules? I end up finding maybe 1 server that actually has an active clan playing on it to stop all the noobs flying helis and random teamkills at base. Arma... DYING? Daniel 0 Posted December 21, 2010 There are plenty of big, active clans and squads out there. Most of them require you join them, but not all.
PsychoPigeon 10 Posted December 21, 2010 Like right now, it's prime time here in the UK, 1Para server only has 1 member on there and doesn't communicate or enforce rules and people just run around like headless chickens blowing everything up. So many servers like that.
demonized 20 Posted December 21, 2010 1Para and 3Para servers are really well run servers, with lots of active members, dont forget its holidays now and players might be occupied with familiy shit.
gossamersolid 155 Posted December 21, 2010 We have a semi-active server in North America. Then again it doesn't seem that there are many Multiplayer North American arma 2 players so most of our traffic is from Europe. We were having a really good match last night until some little Script Kiddy came in with that dumb hack that has still has not been fixed since it's discovery like half a year ago and ruined all of our fun. Daniel 0 Posted December 21, 2010 If squads play every night, all the time, they soon get burned out. It's more enjoyable to play a fresh session once or twice a week. That's why it's hard to catch a good game randomly, the best take some degree of planning.
nettrucker 142 Posted December 21, 2010 Hi there try Charlie Foxtrot server (UK based if I'm not wrong). They are runnig PVP and when I played . . . there were plenty of people playing from 80 up to 100 at times. kind regards
kklownboy 43 Posted December 21, 2010 sounds like lame domi servers... Just dont have Helos or jets, then you will have more INF type players to play with. But A2 will never(thank god) have Multiplayer games like BF2 or CoD, guess that may change if and when PR shows up.
SPC.Spets 21 Posted December 21, 2010 most of the clan, group, whatever, dont play on pubs. THey do coop, large dynamic campaigns, custom missions, TvT, etc. password servers offcourse
SteveJA 12 Posted December 22, 2010 Your best bet is to join a group, post in the BI looking for a squad post and you can pick out of the many PM you will recive. I joined Havoc last summer after messing around on publics, ive never looked back. Meet a great bunch of lads and theres always people looking for a game and/or pre-arranged games. They'll help you out with any CPU, addon, arma problems, and genraly give you a good time. Sp my advice is go sign up somewhere you wont regret it :). DaveP 66 Posted December 22, 2010 I blame that horrible game type 'domination' which has infected every server like the plague. If that goes, teammate actually might start to exist, and ergo clans... and fun.. In VCB we often play Domi in the downtime between operations as a good laugh, and have had some of the best 'non operation' experiences in the game come out of it; it's not the mission, it's the people playing it The problem with going on to a public server is that, logically, you're going to get along better with people that you know well. Being tactical and teamwork-ey often works better with people you get along with. Ergo, people you know well = more teamwork and tactical In a squad atmosphere you get used to working as a team within a section/squad and it gets to the point where section battle drills/etc. become second nature I could use this as a moment for a cheap bit of promo for our own squad, but really it doesn't matter who you join, as long as you're a good fit for the style of play

I'm afraid AA2 is played pretty much like BF by many since OFP and its MF CTI now known as Warfare. As for the thread topic - good coop missions usually take 3-4 hours to play. As you understand organizing something like that 24/7 is impossible. Most of the time you can't also jump into the coop game whenever you want. Tactical clans usually play coop once or a few times a week at set times and I don't see how that's a problem. Edited December 22, 2010 by metalcraze
PsychoPigeon 10 Posted December 22, 2010 So I should be looking for more Team servers? I joined one last night and it was some role playing server with people pretending their cops. What the nyerk is going on!
metalcraze 290 Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) First of all you should wait until holidays will pass. Then look for some serious tactical coop oriented clan. There are quite a few of them around - check in a squad subforum. There are bigger and smaller ones. Smaller ones usually play more focused missions on various objectives while bigger ones do relatively large scale army ops. I sometimes play with Comrade in Arms (but they aren't in their best shape right now) for the former and GOL for the latter. Although I'm also planning to try playing with TacticalGamer for variety. BigJonnyC 10 Posted December 23, 2010 Pycho,I seem to remember you being on my server and ragging on it. You ask for teamwork and then refuse to use the tools which would allow you to fully participate on the server. The best part is 5 minutes after you left we were full and had a great game with lots of great public players working as a team.
F_M-IRL 10 Posted December 23, 2010 ya, don't bash servers cos your a retard
PsychoPigeon 10 Posted December 23, 2010 Teamwork on that server? I'll be damned, it was a complete mess when I was on it, tk's everywhere
johncage 30 Posted December 23, 2010 ofp/arma has always been about sp/coop experiences. if you want team vs team, expect to find ruined servers filled with immature players
Antigoon 10 Posted December 23, 2010 ofp/arma has always been about sp/coop experiences. if you want team vs team, expect to find ruined servers filled with immature players I beg to differ! Just last weekend we had a TvT evening with 40+ players that was entirely teamwork oriented...and a blast at that! Just keep looking for the right servers, adjust to their playing style, don't expect them to adjust to your playing style....and you'll be having fun in no time! It just takes some effort... Infam0us 10 Posted December 25, 2010 I play 3 times a week on the FUSION server, and have excellent teamwork and comms. I'm also considering joining CF ArmA again, which again has excellent teamwork and comms. Go find a good community to play with and enjoy it :)
RobertJ 10 Posted January 2, 2011 Well on the 7th Cavalry servers we had a hilarious little glitch where our server was set to 70 odd people on a mission designed for 36. We filled up to 49/50 in a matter of minutes and enjoyed a truly chaotic game for about half an hour until the server just refused to go on and had a nervous breakdown. When we got it back down to 36 like it was meant to be we had a full night of tactical gameplay, we had an air tower controller in the airfield assigning every helo callsigns and monitoring air traffic. Anyone at base was instantly given a lift to the front and we had Infantry task squad Bandit running around in a Ka-60 doing the side-missions if anyone wanted small scale tactical squad actions. I mean the server crashed multiple times, about 4-5, because there was so much traffic and it kept glitching up and letting more people join than there should be. We had about 7-9 7Cav members in at a time making sure everything was orderly, the rest were Pubbers and we all had a laugh. Bear in mind each of those server crashes the server filled up instantly I lost my place once because I waited 2 minutes after it went down. And each time we got about 10 unique players in as people went to bed. ARMA 2 is HARDLY dead, I'd say it has got more players. We may have lost the release horde which you always get but that was because that group didn't want to play the game, they just joined and played it like Call of Duty and left when they got bored of not being able to bunny hop and run 'n gun. However I think the number of dedicated, tactical players has risen. Also bear in mind that most clans don't allow Pubbers in their operations for the reasons that you complain about public servers, it only takes one muppet to crash the C-130 into your squad and that's the night of tactical gaming over. They are generally intense 3-4 even 6 hour operations that can only be run once a week or once a fortnight depending on how big they are. If you want tactical gaming join a tactical squad/clan. Simple as.
