der.hannes 10 Posted December 8, 2010 hehe i think one exploit i sometimes use against the AI is their inability to fight you inside a building. just fire some rounds at a enemy group of any size to get their attention, run into a building, find a corner where you can cover the whole room or entrance and you can wait for one men after another to run into your bullets :p
TRexian 0 Posted December 8, 2010 haha That works 99% of the time, too, in my experience. Of course, there was one time when I went upstairs and as I was coming down the stairs and reloading, an AI was coming up. He shot first. :(
HyperU2 11 Posted December 8, 2010 I was using the building one yesterday until a BTR showed up to the party. :)
Noraf 0 Posted December 9, 2010 also doesn't work very well, if the ai got at weaponds. Had the building fall apart around me several times, and not allways lucky anough to survive the onslaught :p
SteveJA 12 Posted December 9, 2010 I remember similar tales /\ heres mine. I was a lone soldier in Ferus Abad, which was covered in republican milita. Anyways im on the south side of the vally in-amongst the buildings. Ive lauched a couple of grenades and then run into this house (the one with three storieys). So im on the ground floor taking a few pot shots, and get pinned so i head upstairs to the first floor. Once again i take a few pot shots and move upstairs (second floor) to get a beter view. The second floor is made up of an open area, and a conservatorie/balcony area which looks over the rest of the town. So im firing away in this conservatorie/balcony room and then a 50 cal opens up and i decide to move into the other room, just as i move SHUUUUU > > BWCHCHHSHHH A SPG9 hit the house, i look behind me and the whole conservatorie/balcony has gone, but before i could even think the whole world opened up!!. Every small arm had me in thier sights and the room light up with ricochets. Some how i sprint to the stair case with the wall on my right getting hit by a stupid amount of firepower. Finaly i move down to the first floor opening and muster the courage to move out of the staircase and once again, since the first floor's wall was taken out as well, came under heavy fire as i sprinted to the other stair case. Finaly after an age of battling it out on the ground floor, i recived wound after wound until my heroic soldier surcummed to the white light. IT was epic!!l i found myself diving and ducking in my room haha!
Laqueesha 474 Posted December 9, 2010 Shooting the tires is also one of those things I do to 'survive' (win) Oh, bugger! That bloke just shot out one of my four tyres on my APC. I know, let's bail out, mate! Never mind the fact that we are surrounded by a hundred enemy infantrymen and a dozen vehicles. ;)
HyperU2 11 Posted December 9, 2010 Yeah shooting out tires is one I'm guilty of all the time. No one should bail out for a flat tire.
TRexian 0 Posted December 9, 2010 Better to wait for the RPG? :)
HyperU2 11 Posted December 9, 2010 Yes it is. Especially since the RPG would be my first shot if I had one.

-=seany=- 5 Posted December 10, 2010 Oh yes, In fact some times due to the frustrations you can get with the interface/forced anims etc, I can be found cackling maniacally when I have discovered a new way to exploit the game :coop: Shooting out tires is a favourite, there are other but I cant think of any. Its funny, I normally hate exploiting games, but when I do it in Arma I feel a sense of: "now we are even you bugger" :D. Bare in mind I only ever play coop. :)

After getting shot in the head by a pistol at over several hundred meters, you'd want to get some payback. :D
johncage 30 Posted December 11, 2010 the ai exploits the game engine. they run one direction so they force me to lead target, then they suddenly stop and moving a different direction. how hard that is to get a good long range shot especially when the aiming lag is terrible. johncage 30 Posted December 11, 2010 how do you explain that? i see them running along a path, jogging from point a to b, then suddenly halt as i fire a round, which inevitably hits a few inches ahead of them because i was leading. is it presentiment? how do they know that? and what caused them to stop? hmmm.... Zig zagging is a common tactic to avoid getting shot in real life as well. It's not very smart to run in a straight line when fighting. The AI look kind of stupid when they do it though, because they'll run, stop, rotate, then move again. It's not very fluid compared to a real human doing so. maturin 12 Posted December 11, 2010 (edited) how do you explain that? i see them running along a path, jogging from point a to b, then suddenly halt as i fire a round, which inevitably hits a few inches ahead of them because i was leading.is it presentiment? how do they know that? and what caused them to stop? hmmm.... They will sometimes stop and look around or change direction if they hear a gunshot, obviously. They shouldn't do this if they are already in combat and aware of enemies, and if they change direction instantly, it may be because of a glitch that causes muzzle blast sounds to play instantly at times. More likely they were simply taking the circuitous route they usually take from A to B. It's clearly not a cheat. Consider the processing power and complex calculations that would be required. BI would have to be trying really hard to give them an unfair advantage, when they actually put their efforts towards the opposite results.
