    CAA1 public release

am i the onlyone experiencing some errors with arma co 1.57? when loading the game with intros activated, the intro (before mainmenue) is screwed and giving me that error massage: picture ca\ui\data\splash1_cp.paa not found another weird bug is that nearly all pmc units (at least with dlc installed) have black masks over their heads  i play with vanilla only + caa1 and did a fresh install today, so this shouldnt be caused by my installation. the last time i used caa1 was with arma 2 only and i dont remember any problems from this time ... ahh and i use alpinestars arma launcher. edit: is this realy true? is the vegetation not blocking the ai view at all?
  2. i have a question about the coin module and cant realy understand the explanations on bi wiki. i have set up a coin module at wich i can buy vehicles and ammo chests and stuff like that. some of the vehicles & objects (motorcycle,atv...) have working green preview model when i place them, others dont have this green model (mountainbike,apache...) and collide with objects and npcs :( how can i add the missing preview class to these objects? this is what i found on http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Construction_Interface: this is my coin script: if anyone is able to: please help me. i searched whole bi editing forums but dont get it
  3. but the other side of the changed collision model of the player is that you can look through many objects if you get close and turn your head a little, also leaning around corners is often buggy... about the animations speeds, here is what i like: - keep the slower movement in crouched stance & while jogging (always wanted this! easier spotting, more difference between jogging&sprinting) bring back the old (slower) animations for: -walking, slow walking in crouched stance (much too fast, almost like jogging. we need a slow movement animation!) -all weaponswitch or transition animations (they look realy bad! and they feel very bad) edit: i noticed that the AI behaves very well with this patch, good work with that! playing a nice open world mission with my AI mate for about 6 hours without him being stuck at all!
  4. the only thing i realy like about the redone animations is the slightly slower jogging and running in crouched stance this 300% speed up of the other animations must be a early april joke i hope. edit: whats so special about being a pvp player and why do you need faster animations? i play 50% pvp and 50% against ai (as most of the armaholics do i guess) and i can see no point why i should have 300% faster animations in pvp? especially a tank-commander will have a hard time in pvp with 1.58...
  5. sorry for bumping this old thread but is there any solution for this? all custom sounds play at 50% loudness when inside of an vehicle. is there a way to play an stereo ogg at the same sound in all situations?
  6. i actually play without AA, its pretty the same problem as with the last 3 betas (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=114734), compared to 1.57 the fps drop while scoping through foliage is crazy (40-80%). i tested the new animations a little longer and think its definitely not good for gameplay and looks very weird. if you want to have faster transition from prone to crouch you need to make a new animation thats made for that purpose. do not speed up a animation by 200% - it looks like old movies. edit - nice feature that all the arma logos are now displayed in main menu, not only the dlcs.
  7. voted no because of the too much speed up animations like crouch,prone,walk... did i notice it right that jogging is now a little slower? i like this very much, now there is more difference between jogging and sprinting. the massive performance dropdown while scoping is still destroying gameplay for me ...
  8. i noticed that unarmed men dont move at all when ordered to crouch. place one unarmed unit in your team and tell him to stay crouched (7,7), he will stay nailed down on his position and not move one single meter in crouched stance. thats gamebreaking for some of my missions where i have unarmed medics in my squad.
  9. just noticed Millenium7s post on the previus page and thats excactly what i experienced. the reason for the huge performance difference realy seems to be the new lod handling ... too bad that its better looking. i play at 1920x1200 with 100% 3D resolution.
  10. i will do some more testing and give you some fps results tomorow, for now: - 1.57 without AA = nearly no fps drop near trees, in woods, when scoping through treetops; mouse stays smooth & responsive - 1.57 with AA = huge performance drop near trees, VERY slow mouse and low responsiveness when scoping and even rmb zoom. AA generaly slows my mouse down to the extreme, even when away from vegitation - beta without AA & ATOC = strangely nearly same as 1.57 with AA (noticed that you get much higher tree lods in zoom mode compared to 1.57 - loading these huge lods takes 1-2 seconds of massive stutter) - beta with AA = much weaker gpu performance than 1.57 with AA, implayable when near leafy trees - zoom kills 90% of fps, even trees that where no problem with 1.57 make my gfx struggle - beta with AA & ATOC = pretty good performance when vegitation is ~50m away, but the very worst performance drop while scoping ever ill give some more details tomorow. gtx260, q6600, 6gb, ssd
  11. i definitely sign the huge fps drop with vegitation scince new betas. actually playing 1.57 and can scope through vegitation with no problems ... ok at object detail of "very low" because the leafy trees are just bad models for a game - they look nice but the performance i unrealistic when having more than one tree in view. with gtx260, q6600, 6gb and ssd i should at least be able to play at "normal" though... the huge differences in performance is what realy annoys me, when there is no tree in view or a little away to not show the first three lods - i have ultra smooth performance, with vegitaion in sight my mouse feels like its weighten 2 tons or something. all in all i would say that arma 2 has much problems with graphics cards and i cant imagine that any computer without sli can run with aa+ppe+trees !? i do not have (much) dropdown whith some ai or triggers scince some full patches ago, even the chernarus mission from harvest red i can play without much cpu related stutter.

    blinking light

thx so much, its working perfectly and looks awesome! :bounce3: edit - i just noticed that the effect is only visible ~50 meters, is there something like that for ~500 meters range?
  13. heyho, iam currently making a creepy night mission and want to create a sos call with blinking light. i tried it with small ambient light but its not what i want - i want to have a small light dot that doesnt enlight a huge area, just like the red one that blinks on some of armas towers or the blinking lights from aircrafts. is there a way to use these blinking lights in my mission without addons? that would be so cool

ARMA 2: OA beta build 77819

talking about stealth mode, it would be cool if the leader/player enters stealth mode too when he orderes his team to stealth. its annoying that my team whispers so atmospheric, but my character is still shouting the orders. when i start a mission in stealth mode, its impossible to stop whispering for the leader/player.

well you seem to have it everytime you use scope? i think for me this mainly happens on vegetation - its definitely my graphics card that cant handle scoping through trees scince last beta (i left out some betas earlier) because i get no cpu typical stuttering, but the game slows down very much (from ~50fps to ~15fps) and the mouse movement is very delayed. i definitely have NO dropdown caused by vegitation with the last full patch - but with new beta it doesnt matter weather i use atoc/aa or not! even on very low textures/objects/vegetaion the dropdown stays nearly the same. i felt like with the non-beta-patch the vegi-lods dont switch to much higher lods while scoping - with the beta it seems like you get the highest lods when zooming, even with everything set to very low. having everything on very low it takes ~1-2 seconds with heavy stuttering until the lods are loaded - when they are ready loaded i have nearly same low fps like when i have everything set to normal. edit - omg thats some bad english...
