madmike 0 Posted May 7, 2002 My mate reckons he saw a humvee in British markings with a GPMG mounted in a news clip on BBC news on saturday. It was in Afganistan but I think it was a different country that is part of the peace keeping force because as far as I am aware Britian has not purchased any is not planning to. Fenna 0 Posted May 7, 2002 Britain doesn't have any Humvees. Land Rovers rule.
madmike 0 Posted May 7, 2002 well I already know that landrovers are the best I just want to know if anyone knows about British troops using them becuase I'm sure they dont.
Mister Frag 0 Posted May 7, 2002 I don't know about the HMMVEE, but I definitely saw British troops carrying a mix of SA-80 and M-16 rifles in footage from Afghanistan.
madmike 0 Posted May 7, 2002 Thats nothing new, M16s have been make in the UK for decades although they are called armourlites rather then M16s becuase they are built under license.
loopy 0 Posted May 7, 2002 As far as I know mike they only use landrovers I wouldn`t think that would change in a hurry
KingBeast 0 Posted May 7, 2002 Useless spam fact: The British Army use Harley Davidsons
USSoldier11B 0 Posted May 8, 2002 I wouldn't bee surprised to see the Brits using a humvee. They were probably part of a joint multinational task force or something. Each compiling their equipment. There is probably a shortage of British vehicles there or something. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Thats nothing new, M16s have been make in the UK for decades although they are called armourlites rather then M16s becuase they are built under license<span id='postcolor'> That would be Armalite. It is a brand name. Most law enforcement agencies buy thier AR type weapons from Armalite. Colt rarely deals with anyone except the U.S. military.
Hilandor 1 Posted May 8, 2002 perhaps its true i do know that the brits had a problem with the long wheelbased landrovers in the gulf (desert conditions),and extremely rough terrain, perhaps there sharing equipment with the americans in afganistan at the moment
Rob 1 Posted May 8, 2002 and also landrovers have crap armour compared to the humvee
madmike 0 Posted May 8, 2002 I know that there has been a massive problem getting kit and supplies out to the brits becuase there is a shortage of RAF pilots so only one herc lands each day to re supply. I have seen loads of pics of the new defender landrovers in desert paint and stripped down. I definatly think that my mate was wrong now. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Useless spam fact: The British Army use Harley Davidsons <span id='postcolor'> They do, and have been using them for ages, mainly used by military police though
