AlienXXI 10 Posted November 27, 2010 According to the Can You Run It website, I am able to run this game. Can someone tell me how the online is? How many people can play at one time? Is online dead? Are there lots of bugs? If I just buy the Arrowhead version, can I still play with everyone else who bought all versions? Convince me to buy this game. =D

nettrucker 144 Posted November 27, 2010 Hi and welcome download the demos and try yourself before buying. Nobodie's ever going to convince you, this decision is up to you. Or you gonna like it or you don't. Games are a very personal taste thing. So my best advice to you is to play the demos. If you gonna like it buy it. BTW there's a 50% Thanks giving discount on the series. Discount expires on 11/29/10 so if you like it hurry up. kind regards
AlienXXI 10 Posted November 28, 2010 Thanks for the information about the demo. After I read your post I downloaded it and tested it out. I love the idea of a realistic military game and this one appears the open world. I was happy to see that it ran well on my computer with little issues, maybe a little lag here and there, but still very playable. So I went through boot camp and learned that the controls are very confusing and hard to use, at least for me they are. I managed to complete the first two missions in boot camp and then failed horribly on the helicopter mission. So I then decided to play single player and enjoyed it, but the controls made it very hard to play. I decided to plug in my PS3 controller and basic controls like move, aim, reload, fire, and all the stances. I found it just as hard because the controls were not smooth like I am used to in any other shooter games I played. What I mean by not smooth, is that I was unable to run and look around at the same time. Perhaps I set up my controls wrong... I searched the forums here to see if someone posted their control setup, you know what stuff they map to their controller? I can't see to find any threads on that.. I mess around with the controls some more. If someone who plays with a controller can be so kind to tell me what buttons they have setup?

mrcash2009 0 Posted November 28, 2010 Only time controller should be used is vehicles or flying, infantry is keyboard & mouse. this simulator will take you weeks to master as its not the run of the mill game you may be used too. If you purchase get Arma2 & AO / Combined Ops as new features via OA add to what was missing with Arma2 and also the training missions for OA are top notch. Also bear in mind the demo was never patched, we are now on 1.55 since 1.0 which I think demo is from. If you want to see some more videos about controls and things check out this section: http://www.armaholic.com/plug.php?e=faq&q=87 Bottom line is to completely ditch your thinking process of any other games, this isn't like that :)
rstratton 0 Posted November 28, 2010 takes everybody who is new to this game awhile to get past the controls aspect. but once u do get the hang of the controls u wont look back
Jack_Ryan_ 10 Posted November 28, 2010 Plus it helps to have that 6th finger on the left hand. If you're good with a needle, sew a toe on as an extra thumb.

I mess around with the controls some more. If someone who plays with a controller can be so kind to tell me what buttons they have setup? Hi controls seem to be difficult at first. It took me some time to learn to play this game. I'm using my custom control setup for 10 years straight now. You need to figure out what fits you best on your own. Infantry should be controlled with keyboard and mouse. For vehicles, a controller is recommended. I don't know about the PS3 controller, never used one. This game is definitely different from other FPS. It is complex by it's nature, but once you got a hang on the controls, it's a piece of cake. The game has still flaws but BIS is working on it constantly to improve it. But tell me one game which has no flaws!!!! I don't know what gaming background you have, but this game is different to other FPS. You're trying to do the Rambo thing and you will get your butt handed over on a silver plate regularly.:D About MP I can't give you much of an advice I have played only a short time online due to RL issues, but it was great and a whole lot of fun especially when you are playing in an organized manner. Best bet is to purchase ArmA CO so you won't have any troubles playing with all the stuff that has been released so far. BIS modding community is outstanding. There so many things to try out that it is impossible to try out everything. In any case, as I already stated in my former post, the decision is up to you, noone will going to talk you into it. It's your choice. kind regards
Steakslim 1 Posted November 28, 2010 Yeah it might be convenient if you were to bind all the functions you'd like to use to keys you specify (unless you prefer to leave things on default). In most games I immediate change the key binds though it did kinda become a problem when I started playing ArmA1 and people would yet W SPEED W SPEED Q SPEED Q SPEED in terms of the vehicle speed, and i'd just go THE FUCK YOU TALKIN ABOUT.
