wildcard90 0 Posted May 2, 2002 We Need a Heavy Helicopter for the Soviets MIL MI-26 "HALO" Twin-turboshaft military and commerical Heavy-Lift Helicopter Powerplanet Two Lotarev D-136 TurboShafts of 11,240shp (16,670) rotor Diameter 105FT 0in (32.00m) Length 110ft 8in (33.73m) Max Speed 183mph (295km/hr) Accommodation up to 70 Fully-equipped troops or 44,000IB (20,000KG) First Flown 14 December 1977 Entered Service 1983
OFPman 0 Posted May 2, 2002 cool, but i prefur a mig29B and a tomcat
VMF124 Foxtrot 0 Posted May 2, 2002 Hey Mike! It would look cool and the Russians do need more choppers, but do we really need to move 70 troops in a single chopper??? I think a HAVOK, HELIX or a HOKUM B would be a better choice though. As for the Tomcat and MiG-29B, those islands are much too small and you can't see far enough ahead to do much with them, and the runways are quite short , you would probabley be crashing all of the time . The Flashpoint engine can't handle planes that well at all, controls are too simple. I suggest waiting for LO:MAC, them you can fly that MiG in a game engine made for it, LO:MAC would be much more enjoyable (for planes anyways).
USSoldier11B 0 Posted May 2, 2002 I would like to see another Russian helo. But not another flying tank. How bout a smaller more agile one. I'm not sure which model. I would have to go consult Jane's Soviet blok aircraft.
Aculaud 0 Posted May 2, 2002 Or perhaps one with more accurate weaponry? Those AT6 missiles cant hit much, unless youre at QUITE a long distance.
OFPman 0 Posted May 2, 2002 thats why there should be an entire earth map =D (maybe equalling to 90 megabytes) then the tomccat and mig29B will be a fine choice =P as for the heli, it sounds okay maybe if it had like a mounted 30 mm cannon =P and the HAVOK is a real needed heli for the russian forces... Rage_Frost 0 Posted May 2, 2002 OMG lol this is all the need another flying HUGH tank. Come on guys I know you can find something better for some mod makers to build to stand up against the west helo's
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted May 2, 2002 Ya, those russian choppers simply ARE to good armoured and stable versus the west ones :/
TYsiEK 0 Posted May 2, 2002 This is very good helicopter for transporting. It's very big and beautifull . Good idea mr. wildcard90.
jawk2 1 Posted May 2, 2002 here's my idea when i entered in a chopper: West i bother every hole/scratch made by other ppl becse i know that theese chopper mainly count for their mobility to win (and when u meet me in the air expect high speed turn and staying behind u) East well yeah i entered a T80 having helix.... one rocket hit me... not matter comrade we will take them off by a rocket salvo So i rush forward everything expecting to sustain more dammage than the other guy. to my opinion OPF chopper need 2 things more: one heavy attack chopper in the west side (no idea for the period well guy prospect i m not a military fan) ;p one medium/light chopper (or two) for the russian....(hockum might be fine)

I do agree with you on the island part but ain't it possible expand it??? bigger badder or we could use the unlimeted ocean for air combat but that would minimise the chances for survival after ejecting. Przezdzieblo 0 Posted May 2, 2002 What a pity that soviet choppers in OF have bulletproof plexiglas cockpits. I hope new models will be more real. I am waiting for HH53 for West and those great Mi26 on the other side of conflict. And of course Huey. And maybe Lynx. Hm, well, Puma, Mi14 (in Polish version:)) Mi6, Mi8, Mi4, Westland Wessex, yeah, Mi28, PZL Sokol, Merlin, what else, Robnson Ro2 and many, many more flying objects

Grokk 0 Posted May 4, 2002 Aren't there cargo-planes that land in water? It would sort of solve the lack of airport problem... I've got a funny idea for air to air combat above sea. Someone should model an inflatable life boat. A few day's ago I created my own halo-jump because all the others f*k big time. I used camcreate stuff. That's how i got the idea. When someone ejects above sea he has got a problem. Just create a script in wich the pilot moves into the lifeboat when he reaches waterlevel (after ejecting). Even with a little scripting you could halo-eject, and get in your lifeboat.
