I need to install BAF Offline

Recommended Posts

I have just paid and downloaded the OA BAF mod from Gamers Gate and I have installed and activated it on my current Online PC. But I want to install it on my Offline PC aswell as that one has all the Mods on it (slx, ace etc).

I just want to find out a legal way of installing this on my Offline PC because this is bugging the hell out of me. Any help?

If you installed it on ur online pc you'll find a BAF folder underneath ArmA2's main folder. You could try copy it over to your other pc. And edit ur ArmA2 link so it uses BAF as a modfolder.

Just put your "offline" computer online. The whole concept of offline gaming PCs is ridiculous unless you wildly click on everything that presents itself to you. Going online to authenticate an install or download a patch won't kill you. :)

It is not, there are stil people like me who have no stable line and have to use pay per minute mobile phone frequencies, GSM only out in the bushes where we live.

I used to download larges files on work and copy them on USB stick. the modern online civilzation is not everywhere, not eben in central europe.

That indeed the only matter why iI still do not have BAF...I have the same problems as the topic starter and I would very much like to hear about a solution.

No, but my ISP will. They get pissed off when users activate connection on more than 1 PC.

Doppler can you tell us what error message exactly comes up? I fail to see where the problem is, BAF is just a modfolder inside ArmA2 imo. Or i'm missing something. Plz, more info.

Oh, and i take it you installed the 1.54 patch on your offline ArmA2 too? Just saying.

You could try to get the BAF Installer (BAF.exe) to your offline PC and install it in there

Because the BAF is not just asimple

Modfolder, the installer itself contains some other data for other folders which are not in Program Files (some where in Win32 I think ..)

Yes, I have installed the 1.54 patch on my ARMA OA.

When I move the mod folder to my ARMA 2 directory, I run the game and the british forces logo appears. But the mods are not appearing at all. The files seem to overwrite the Lite ones and the BAF and Shapur arent ingame. Its like it was 1.52.

Also, I tried moving my Online PC's Activated files on to my Offline PC. But still, the same thing happens (Mods not ingame).

When I say this I dont mean that the Lite version is unchanged, I mean that these BAF files Overwrite the Lite ones and then I cant use the BAF at all.

I dont understand why the activated files dont work on my Offline PC. It works fine on my Online PC.

Is there a certain DLL or data file hidden on the PC that gives access?

Hi there surely trying to bypass the online activation is bypassing the copy right?.

I know you have purchased it but is it still seen as bypassing the copy right?

If it was easy to do surely every one would do it that did not want to pay for it?.

I dont see how they would be able to get the valid files in the first place. I mean, when I said about the activation file (DLL im just guessing) I assumed it would only work for my version of my files (like a unique registration that only the same bought pbo and dll would possess) therefore I couldnt mass produce them and sell them dirty-Which is definetly what I am AGAINST. I dont want do anything Illeagal at all, I just want to move the files onto my offline PC as thats where all my COOP mods are stored. Besides, I have two PCs so I can securly design missions on one without any nasty hackers stealing my files (Offline) and play other missions on the other (Online).

Good point though, stk2008.

Ahh, the good old days when games were proper and only needed disks to run :sigh:

I agree there I hate this crap DLC rubbish I want to install my games as many time I want and not be told I have hit my limit that pisses me off.

That`s the only reason I wasn't going to get BAF but I love ARMA2 so much I did hahahaha.

And sorry I did not mean you where doing dodgy stuff which is why I said I know you have purchased it BUT is it by passing the copy right laws I don't know did not read them hahahaha.

I have BAF on a hard drive I got via Sprocket now I cant get to that hard drive as it has failed there for I can now not uninstall it to revoke an activation.

I there for have got another hard drive in the same pc but freshly formatted and I still have not bothered to install BAF (if I even can) to save an activation for now till I am happy with this install of windows as it was not a problem free install.

But I think its ok I suppose I should install BAF now but meh.

Any ideas if I will use up another activation? or what will happen as I cant revoke and install.

Thanks and hope you get yours sorted mate :) keep us informed.

I don't understand this limitation. Why would your ISP complain that you are using the internet service you pay for?

Im going to try and negotiate with my ISP now (I was just paying for one PC to be connected but now I will upgrade to multi-but lets not go offtopic). Then I will attempt to activate the files on my Offline PC with a connection window-if thats even possible.

Is it possible to activate the same DLC on two PCs at the same time?

Without having tested it: Try exporting your registry key on the online PC and import it on the offline PC (and copy the BAF folder, obviously).

Start->Run -> type "regedit"

Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\(Wow6432Node\)Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2 BAF

(only on 64bit Windows)

If you marked that folder click File->Export and save the .reg file somewhere. Copy it to your offline PC and execute it there. If you use a different installation directory you need to edit it first, rightclick "Edit" and change the path with Notepad.

That's how I always reinstall my Arma, no idea if it works with BAF. Better activate it normally if you don't feel save doing this.

Your ISP can't charge you per computer surely? What country are you in and who are you with? What will they do if you just get a router and plug the two computers into that?

Cheaper solution would be to put a second network card into the first computer and use it as a router for the other one. ;)

And no, the ISP should not have a clue how many computers are behind a router and which computer is sending a request.

Exactly. All the ISP see is that your modem is accessing information over a line that you pay for.

As Maddog says, get a PCI ethernet card and put it in your online pc then use that as a bridge for your offline one if you don't want to get a router.
