BAF Graphic problems

Recommended Posts

Well it occasionally decides to look horrible when I have everything on high. Models look like boxes, in particular the first mission Wild cat wreck and the Merlin transport. Occasionally the guns in other characters hands (or my own in 3rdperson) end up with a 2D look to them :/ Any one else getting these problems or just me?

Not running any mods and i have an ATI 4800, 4 gig ram and an AMD.. eh, with 4CPUs lol, forget the name.

After reloading it seems to have fixed it. Weird. Still, any idea what would cause this?

do you have full version of A2: BAF or just BAF lite

Theres a lite? lol. I have the full version. I tried both running it from the main file in steam and from running it via combined operations(I have Arma2 and OA in steam aswell) and the same thing happened. It only fixed after reloading a save while running the combined op. I dont see BAF lite in expansion files. Is it possible that its conflicting?

Hello, I have the full version and mine does it also. The new Helo's look like boxes and do not have landing gear. I also noticed the HMMWV ambulance looks messed up as well.

These graphical glitches are not related to BAF only.

I have it in A2 and OA, too, that the highres LOD´s refuse to work/ pop up, especially

character models look like build of 20 polygons and weapons have that 2d- ish look.

I have the same problem, I didn't have it in ARMA 2, but it suddenly started in OA.

Generally what happens is the ground texture goes horrible, like 1995 level graphics. Basically just one colour, then vehicles get the same treatment then character models lose all their detail. This texture trashing is really annoying as it removes all immersion when the grass turns into some amorphous blob of a single colour and all your troops look like they were coloured in by a 3 year old.

Anyone got any ideas?

Oh yeah, and it happens even when the game is running at the 60 fps cap, I can run it perfectly smooth with high anti-aliasing and everything on very high. Any ideas?

Add me to the list. The vegetation looks bad 1 foot away and the plant is a big blob. I dont notice it as often in arma2 but more so in OA. I thought it may be a ATI driver issue as 10.4 doesn't seem to do it as bad. I see RobertJ is using crossfire as am I. Is anyone not using crossfire or ATI and having the issue?

Im using a 4870x2 and i get this alot. After awhile of playing, textures kinda...die...The ground gets all blurry. Trees just look like green blobs(not that they look much better when they arent blobs) and character textures just don't load.

Thats 3 of with crossfire. Dwarden had posted the catalyst makers twitter account on the Steam forums to hound the guy for crossfire and it seemed to work. I just posted a message about the textures. I recommend doing the

same.

Any word on a fix for these issues? I purchased the full BAF version, not sure it is patch related or expansion related. I never had any issues until the expansion and update. I am using a 5870 graphics card. img]<img src=[/img]

try the 10.4 drivers

It's not related to vcard. I have a NV GTX285 installed and one of my mates has an ATI HD5870. And we both have the same issue with low quality models/textures and 2d weapon models. It happens only after patching A2:CO to 1.54 (doesn't matter - with lite or full BAF installed).

I agree it's not vcard related or driver related does the same thing with 10.4. I never had any of these issues until I updated to 1.54 and BAF full version. I also tried the latest beta patch but still have the same issues.

Does anyone have any ideas, can anyone from BIS confirm if they are working on this or not?

I've had this since I combined OA with ARMA 2 and I don't play the games anymore because it just totally ruins the experience. The texture trashing completely ruins your FPS and makes the game look terrible, everything is just gelatinious blobs of colour. ARMA 2 ran fine, on top of that the graphics are just generally worse as well, compared to my old screenies.

Any ideas.

It also appears to be a random issue too, on empty Utes the FPS just randomly stuttered and then all the textures began to look crappy. I've no idea what this issue is.

I sent Dwarden a message on this. I am sure he's a busy man, I haven't heard anything back yet. Hope they figure it out soon, I have tried about everything I can think of to fix it but still no luck. It doesn't do it every time, does yours?

I have BAF,no issues there, but with patch 73251 the Taki soldiers suddenly have a very low lod, reverted to 73239 and they are fine again :)

I have problems with LOD as well. To me it is most notable in trees, bushes and signs.

Screenshots are from BAF campaign mission 2, "Lancers". Arma2 OA version is 1.54, haven't tried betas yet.

I'm using 4870x2 with Catalyst 10.8b hotfix drivers and Windows 7 64-bit. My graphic settings are as follows:

Visibility: 2455

Interface Resolution: 1920x1200

3D Resolution: 1920x1200

Texture detail: High

Video memory: Default

Anisotropic filtering: High

Antialiasing: Low

Terrain detail: Normal

Objects detail: High

Shadow detail: High

Postprocess effects: Disabled

I often get low LOD soldier models when using Arma 2 content with the OA engine. It doesn't matter how close you get the LOD won't change. I have had this issue as long as I have had OA and it is still occuring randomly with the latest Beta.

Now thats strange. I've been using Nvidia 8800GT OC2 512mb for past few years, just switched to ATI 4890 1meg DDR2 and I have no issues whatsoever. I didn't even reinstall anything. I also asked bunch of guys from my team and none is having this issue you're describing.

I'm using an ATI 5850. The worst culprits for Low LOD models seem to be russian soliders. I don't have these issues when playing OA using OA content. It also seems to be completely random.

I am still having the same issues and have not heard from anybody "OFFICIAL" yet. Here are the latest version of the BAF stealth Helo. I started the game jumped into my custom stealth wildcat (pouring on the sarcasm) and intentionally crashed it. Notice how the wreck looks great all the lods loaded correctly. Should we post this problem somewhere else? This thread has over 1,000 views but still no fixes or at least a "hey we are working on it". <a href=th_photo9.jpg' alt='th_photo9.jpg'>th_photo8.jpg

Again this is not vcard or driver related. I have tried different drivers and patches. Everything worked great before BAF and the patch update 1.54/1.07
