USSoldier11B 0 Posted May 1, 2002 I've lost an entire fingernail before. I hurt like a bitch (military accident) Here in Colorado it is very arid and wounds don't get infected easily. At the time I was in Georgia where it is very humid and nasty. The wound started do smell real bad even though I was changing the bandage daily. I got kinda worried so I change it about 3 times a day and doused it with peroxide often. I thought my damn finger was going to get gaingrenous. I like it here. Arid means sterile. But after a while it turned black and it started to smell really bad. After a while i realised that the wound (and the flesh around it) was rotting. Pretty gross if you ask me... It kept on smelling horrible for about 9 days and then most of it just fell of Like most of you said i'd prefer losing my little toe, it's completely useless if you ask me.
