[PMC] Co04/SP - The Hornets Nest v2.0

The Hornets Nest v2.0

This is a rather short but action-packed mission that can be played in SP or as Coop.

For the best immersion i recommend a sound-mod of your choice and you should turn off Super-AI to prevent the enemys from being AK snipers !

Story:

On the way back too the base a helicopter carriyng ION Inc. contractors got problems with the engine and crashed near the small village of Mulladost, deep inside hostile territory.

You are one of the few survivors who managed to get out before the helicopter exploded. But the real struggle for survival has just began, you are inside of the hornets nest...the insurgents are everywhere !

Features of v2.0:

- No addons needed !

- Play as ION Inc. contractor

- Choose your gear during briefing

- "Behind enemy lines" style of mission

- Special script to prevent "crawl of death" (automatic leg heal, thanks to Celery !)

- Special heal script (thanks to Zipper5 for the soundfile !)

- Enemy small-arms accuracy reduced (thanks to shk !)

- Radio noise (sounds are from freesound.org)

Great mission mate!

Great you like it, but i need some more feedback.

Especially about the enemy forces and the extraction helicopter.

Good Mission. The Heli landing good.

The Mission is a little facil ( bischen zu leicht, der Weg ins Dorf müßte länger sein und noch ein paar Überraschungen wären gut ;) ).

Yes, i could be a bit easy but i think that isent a bad thing.

I designed this mission that way so even in SP the player could finish it at the first try if he is carefull enough.

I currently have some ideas for v1.1 but first need some more informations from guys who have already played the mission.

Would be cool if you could tell me if you have played it in MP or SP too !

Played it in SP. Made it out, lost a man. Its a good fun mission. Would have preferred to play as US or UK. Are Aussies in OA? Perhaps it could take few more civilians?

...and i thought most players would like to play as Takistani SF. ;)

More civilians, thats a thing where a mission designer must be careful, to much and it looks overdone and you get realy big problem seeing the insurgents because they look not too different.

You did just fine with the Takistani. It was good to be on their side for once.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the language they speak is Farsi (Persian)?

I'm wondering if the music for OA is geared more toward the Persian culture or the Arab, because both are NOT the same.

hey,

played this yesterday on my server - few things i noticed:

- "NIL VARIABLE OVERRIDE: please fix mission or loaded addon-scripts"

whatever this is,it pops up on mission start and seems to be ArmA related

loaded addons i used while playing are @CBA,@PROPER and @ACE_SM

- Gear selection chosen doesnt get carried over ingame

- information on EVAC/EVACstatus is a bit sparsely - i was kinda clueless to either hold a spot thats decent to defend near crashsite or move to Mullahw/e

Why not add a radio message telling you when you should head to EVAC,or similar

- Revive would be a great thing

Apart from those issues its kinda easy but enjoyable mission,sadly i expected a art of "shot way behind enemy lines and need to get back to friendly terrain" stuff - like a few A1 missions featured (cant remember the name yet)

Anyway,thumbs up

Here i cant help you, maybe you should try to play the mission without any addons.

On a Dedecated Server ?

Its a known problem this is something BI has to fix.

Why not add a radio message telling you when you should head to EVAC,or similar

You get the task to entrench at the village, then the task to hold out there until evac and then a radio message that the helicopter will arive shortly.

But i maybe could add another task that says clearly "Wait inside the village for Evac".

- Revive would be a great thing

I dont like any kind of revive so i dont plan to add it.

The mission was designed as a short and not too hard mission. But i will try to get it a bit more challeging in v1.1.

Hi !

Im currently updating this mission using the new PMC units.

Only a few changes and bug fixes but i think the PMC guys fit very well in the story of the mission.

I also added a few more custom sounds and radio messages.

Hope you will like it.

If a mod reads this, can you please change the thread title into:

Played it lastnight! Very good mission for 4 players. Enemy balance is right and the difficulty is good.

I hosted but the other players could not read the notes. We also chose our gear in the briefing screen and when the mission started, all the gear was back to default.
