Is there a tier list for all of the guns in this game?
barccy replied to lv1234's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Penetration through barriers matters more than the effect through body armor when deciding on caliber choices for things under 8mm. Pistol rounds - 5.7 , 9mm, or .45 are absolutely useless shooting through 99% of things. 5.56 is nearly useless, deflecting +50 degrees if it miraculously gets through at all. 6.5 is mediocre , 7.62x39 is decent. 7.62x51 and up are GOOD at killing things through walls, whether they be wood, brick, or thin sheet metal. Only the heavy stone buildings offer good cover from them. One weakness of the Arma ballistics modeling and mostly of the hitpoint damage system is that the low velocity rounds like shotgun and heavy subsonic ammo that would never make it through a decent plate irl will insta kill players right through it. Some people look down on the Kozlice, but it's worthy of respect. The wiki has some info on the slight differences in handling and power between weapons (In arma 3 barrel length of the weapon matters, unlike in previous titles where the attributes are all in the magazine or something) and which armors have the best balance of protection vs mobility. Pistols are a great backup if using a mod (like ACE) or script that has weapon malfunctions taking your long arm out of action. In the base game, it's usually more of a liability taking up space and adding weight. Arma 3 is the first to make transitioning to the pistol slightly faster than reloading the main gun, especially belt feds, but even so, it's probably a 1/100 chance it'll be needed if you're making proper use of cover and concealment and using the buddy system. In OFP:R / CWA it's actually faster to reload the rifle, ARMA 1 and 2 they're about the same, and I think in all of the pre-3s belt feds are about as fast as box magazines. -
1. About a year ago I mentioned in the WGL thread that WGL mod specifically has a crashing issue when played on Linux (Mint 21 - 22). Crash to desktop occurs when AI change combat mode. This appears to be the case for both the Linux port and for the windows version running with proton. Other common mods like SLX, WW4, Finmod, etc. do not exhibit this behavior. I haven't been able to figure out what is going on. In the linked thread, I uploaded a .RPT, but don't know if it contains anything useful. 2. When running WGL + SLX and the WGL expansion OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom), crashes and errors occur when a mission with a certain mission editor placed ground vehicle is loaded (I forget the name of the vehicle, will have to look at it again). I spent hours looking through the files and also couldn't figure out what the issue was. If anyone could help resolve these issues, I will give monetary and/or other compensation. This is my favorite OFP / CWA mod, and I'd like to be able to use it across different OSs. There is also a third issue, but one I don't care as much about to include in my offer - some addon causes the WGL RPGs to fire backwards, but I'm not sure which, and also some planes will not work, either causing game crashes on launch, missions to fail to load, or even vehicles to explode when mission loads. Just thought I'd mention it and advise others not to use other addons with the mod without testing first.

WarGames League v.5.1 (WGL 5.1) Full Release
barccy replied to .kju's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
A possible bug that I have encountered is that when playing with the Linux version, crashes occurs when ai change combat mode. I have a report, but can't tell what exactly is going on. The crash doesn't occur in Vanilla or with SLX, so appears to be WGL specific. -
trying to install operation flashpoint 1 goty
barccy replied to quickQuestion's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
I have this same problem on windows 10 (22h2(?)) without virtualbox. My pc has multiple drives, but the one I had a previous installation on from 2016 failed last month, so i replaced it today. When i tried running the installer 1st time it said it was already installed (reg entry i guess) but i opted to reinstall. Most if not all files were put in place but the installer just ended without warning while on the 3rd disk. The main exe would not successfully launch the game. I tried to install again, but had to uninstall to run installer. This time an error dialogue appeared when on 3rd disk, and nothing had been placed into the folders despite the installer suggesting otherwise. I wish I had thought to just paste the files over from a backup folder i had which could have worked since the reg entry used to ve there. But that won't work anymore. I hope 1.96 isn't lost to me forever. It seems like windows 10 after maybe 1607 version has been losing compatibility with old programs, despite it initially seeming better than win 7 with things like starcraft actually displaying properly in early 10 but not eol 7. -
There are plugins for Notepad++ for OFP and ARMA made by individuals like lone wolf and kenoxite, but notepad++ is a windows only app. Kate works across systems without having to use emulation and workarounds. Has anyone made a Kate plugin for ofp/arma script and config editing?

NRE uses mouse wheel / action menu. George Floros has one that uses a key (and which works with group and side respawn).

GLX is a bit cut down vs TCL, just as TCL is simpler than GL4 and 5. Some immediately noticeable differences are that the GLX AI doesn't garrison on initialization and that the movement patterns are a bit different, with larger elements bounding whereas in the others smaller ones or single units might try to flank. It is specified that GLX was meant for dynamically spawned AI, but idk that the other mods don't handle them. -

That dot may be what messed up my first failed attempts at downloading from WGP over mega app. This last time I copied their folder to my account and succeeded at downloading that way. The "full" torrent appears to be missing the bet_addons1.47(1).rar , but even if so, is close enough. The WGP archive has several duplicate files, arma 3 things, and different versions of the same addon, so it could be slimmed down and repackaged without any real loss. We should combine all our files and make a new torrent or mega folder or coordinate adding them to ModDB or something. Or figure out how to get BIdentify running again... -

Actually, I checked the video again, and the Mega archive is up until the end of November. Maybe my link was just bad or something... Anyway, I will try and grab at least some of those files and put them in folder with the supposed complete torrent and see if that can complete it and seed to others. -

It says it's stalled. Could someone start seeding and tell me when they do so I can make sure mine is leeching? -

Do you have the torrent and data? Looks like they hid or got rid of the mega. -

Do you know if the velocity for the following weapons was configured to be different? class CUP_srifle_RSASS_WDL; class CUP_srifle_m110_kac_woodland; class CUP_srifle_L129A1_w; And do you know if the ammunition of the respective magazines has any differences in velocity, air friction, or damage value? WGP made their A2 archive publicly available recently. It's unsorted, but take what you can get. -
