  1. 2 PARA is a British Realism unit. We started off in ARMA 2 in 2014, but have now returned in ARMA 3, with many of our old members joining back to re-create the fun we had back then. Our aim is to provide a realistic, but fun experience to all of our members through our high quality missions every Saturday at 8pm GMT (Or BST during summer). We use a variety of mods, such as ACE, ACRE, and a collection of British Unit and vehicle mods to allow us to emulate the parachute regiment. Why join us? We play Arma in a tactical, realistic way, using teamwork to achieve our objectives. We have a simple phase one training, therefore this group is perfect for those that want a mature, tactical community, but maybe don’t have the time or the interest in hyper-realistic milsim groups as we don't try to match the real world procedures. The term we use to describe this is 'casual milsim'. If you cannot attend every mission due to other commitments or uncertainty, you can also join the reserves; this allows you to join in when you’re able, although you won’t be able to have any specialist roles. Requirements We have some basic requirements we ask from people joining, but the most important is for people to be mature when we are playing: Mature Working Microphone Own Arma 3 (No DLC required) Speak English fluently Can attend trainings/missions at times above (unless reserves) Not in another group already (that clashes with our times) Extra Info We use highly modified and simplified British tactics to fit the game. Our main aim is to have fun. We aim to achieve this by using teamwork in an efficient and professional manner. The ranks we have are 'functional’. They only exist to fit their own function. For example, as we are only up to one section currently, there is only a need for a Cpl to lead them. We are based on the Parachute Regiment, therefore our main role in conventional warfare will be para-drops and air assaults. Whereas, in counter insurgency campaigns, we will be replicating what most modern forces do in conflicts like Afghanistan and Iraq. You do not need a specific interest in the Parachute Regiment or the British Army to join, although you will get most out of the unit if you do. If this post has managed to persuade you to sign up or at least ask a few more questions of what we can do for you, then either sign up on the website - https://2-para.co.uk/ - or, add me on Steam - razer313 Thanks for reading, hope to see you soon!
  2. The group is still going strong and we have a few major updates that might interest anyone looking to join a group. We have finished our conventional campaign on Chernarus. Here are some picture & video highlights of that. We're just about to start our new counter-insurgency campaign in Sangin, this is persistent and will last several weeks. We now only have one event a week, and that is at Saturday at 8pm. There are no more training's on Wednesday, if individuals need extra training they will get it outside of normal times or just before the mission with their NCO. So if you just want to get your 2 hour fix of Arma a week, you now don't have to commit more than you want to. Regulars should attend 75% of events a month, reserves should aim to attend as much as possible but at least one a month. We have a 'Fire Support Group', not only do they provide close fire support, but they also do any other non-combat role we need, such as EOD, logistics resupply and armoured troop transport. If this is the type of thing that interests you then please join and you could be selected to join them. If you have any questions or just want a chat, you can also just join our Teamspeak and if anyone is around we might be able to help - ts.2-para.co.uk - alternatively, add me on Steam - razer313
  3. Update April 2018 We've now grown to a platoon size and looking forward to opening up our flight group and fire support group. We have also removed our age limit and we judge applicants on a case-by-case basis. Our first campaign starts next week so it is a great time to join if you're interested! Here are some pictures from a recent operation and training. Here is a short clip from an operation done a few weeks ago.
  4. Update March 2018 2 PARA is back again, but much more prepared. Although being re-started again on Monday the 12th of March, we have grown to over a section in that time thanks to the passion of older members. For ex-members, its basically everything it was in Arma 2, just in Arma 3. We're hoping to add a different flavour of realism in the British realism community by focusing less on trainings and more on realistic, team-based fun. We have since also added the reserves and the cadets to facilitate those potentially good members who we might miss out on normally due to our built in constraints. If you weren't part of us last time, check out this thread on our forums to see our history - https://2-para.co.uk/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?129 We're hoping to grow to a platoon size in the next few weeks, if you want to join us on this journey please see the above, updated information about the community, and apply now. Please contact me if you have any questions.
  5. 2 PARA has now grown to the size of two active sections. We are also starting to conduct official organised trainings every Wednesday and Saturday, and have a training on Wednesday covering the basics to more advanced procedures such as fast roping and driving. Every Saturday we are doing a mission or PvP which has a specific topic to practice, such as parachuting. We also are preparing for a new campaign starting in next two weeks which we are currently preparing for, but we hope to have two full sections including the flight section. We are also looking to form a specialist Pathfinder team, which will involve 4/5 guys that HALO jump into a DZ for the main force and secure the DZ and maybe mark it with items such as IR strobes, Chemlight or smoke grenades. They also will be asked to conduct specialist operations with things like destroying bridges, dropping behind enemy lines to cause distractions and have a sniper team to provide support to the main 2 PARA force. This can be applied for straight after your basic training but will involve a bit of experience in the game beforehand to make sure you can conduct the mission by yourself if needed. We are also still looking for people that can lead men, as we are still needing 3 more NCO's to complete our platoon structure. We are also looking for people that are interested in radios and doing more advanced support features such as Mortars, Artillery, Vehicles/Armour, Forward Air Controllers/JTAC's and Forward Observers. If you are just interested in those roles, we can give you the necessary training to do them if you cannot currently do them. If you have any questions, then please do ask me on Steam - razer313, sign up to our website or visit our Teamspeak here - 31.186.250.187 Thanks!
  6. Website YouTube Channel 2 PARA is a new, British Realism unit based in ArmA 2. Our aim is to provide a realistic, and professional experience to all of our members through our high quality missions every Wednesday and Saturday at 7pm GMT. We use a variety of mods, such as ACE, ACRE and our own pack of various mods featuring vehicles such as the Foxhound and Ridgeback. We have some basic requirements we ask from people joining, but the most important is for people to be mature when we are playing. Any age, but mature | We do allow young people, as long as they can be mature. But anyone under 15 will be monitored for 2 weeks to ensure they are complying to this Working Microphone Own Arma 2 and Arma 2 : Operation Arrowhead Speak English fluently Can attend trainings/missions Wednesday and Saturday at 7pm GMT Willing to learn and stick around As we are so new, we are still working out how to modify existing British Army combat procedure to fit the game, but we are trying to fit it as close to reality as possible which is something that some of our members have not been able to see in other clans. Although of main aim is to have fun, by a realistic experience, we also aim to be really professional and efficient. The ranks we have are what I call 'functional'. They only exist to fit their own function. For example, as we are only up to one section currently, there is only a need for a Cpl to lead them, as thats what a section commander would be. But there won't be a need to call anyone 'Sir'. We also are based on the Parachute Regiment, therefore our role in conventional warfare will be paradrops and air assaults mainly, and in counter insurgency campaigns, we will most likely be doing what most modern forces do in conflicts like Afghanistan and Iraq. Although we like people that enjoy the British element particularly and are more well suited to give them what they want, we also are happy to have anyone that is looking for a realistic experience. If you are new to the game, we will also invest a lot of time in to getting you up to speed with everyone else. There is also going to be a flight group as we are a PARA unit, for our paradrops and air assaults. Our already group of active people are always sitting on our Teamspeak playing games and enjoying themselves outside of Arma. And if this post has managed to persuade you to sign up or at least ask a few more questions of what we can do for you, then either sign up on the website - www.2-para.co.uk - or, add me on Steam - razer313 Hope to see you soon! And thanks for reading, Robinson 2 PARA CO

Will Arma 3 replace Arma 2?

Totally agree. Its something about Arma 3 that just doesn't feel right, I wouldn't say it doesn't feel realistic, but I definitely did not like their choice of terrain. Those islands feel like a holiday destination, not a battlefield. Chernarus represented the cold war stuff, and it made sense to use that. And Takistan represented the recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. Im just waiting for the modding community to make some decent islands, then some units, then I might join in. I think another thing is, that Arma 2, even the vanilla game has so much stuff in it already. Arma 3 doesn't have as much at all, mainly because of the attachment system which means you only need one kind of rifle and you can change it as you wish, but it doesn't feel like its right. Especially considering most of those rifles are made up, and that pretty much totally kills it. If/When they bring out a ACE mod for that, then hopefully they will add normal weapons like M16's or AK's otherwise the realism aspect of Arma is pretty dead. Arma 3 is pretty fun for just messing around or PvP though, and the ability to change stances, and the attention to detail with everything else, such as the lighting, and the smoke effected correctly by the wind. This stuff makes it awesome, but it lacks the basic stuff of Arma 2. A3 = Great Engine, but the setting kills it.
  8. Your in luck then! The only reason why im still playing Arma 2, is because of the extensive set of mods on it, and although the game does have some problems, once they are overcome its usually a enjoyable experience. Some mods are of extremely high quality, and one recently that has impressed me is a Apache where you can actually flip switches in the cockpit to turn it on and start the thing! If your getting back into it, get yourself sorted out with ACE, then ACRE if you wish to join a clan or just play online. Considering you have only come back to the series, you might not know of the existence of the site, 'Armaholic'. This has almost every mod for Arma on it, and it organizes it well so you can find anything easily. I would spend some time browsing on there if you think of something you might like. Say if you didn't like the way one of the default Arma units looked like, then all you need to do is look on there for the units section and you will get quite a few pages to look at. On that site it tells you how to install the mods too. So it isn't too difficult. Good luck and enjoy like many of us have been doing for years!
