I just tried a mission without TPW. I was amazed how many CIVS there were without TPW CARS to thin them out. You only have to touch them with a vehicle and they die. What with a misplaced APERS mine and another caught in the crossfire, I managed to rack up half a dozen civilian deaths on my account. My reputation took a real dive and the locals took a serious dislike to us. My companion suggested we leave town, but the locals in the next town had already heard of us. They also had some nasty things to say about us. I thought perhaps they might take up arms against us or report our position to the local warlords. I could just imagine Alex's reputation starting an armed uprising by the locals or even just one or two of them going after Alex, especially if he stays in town too long. I like the reputation system. It works really well when you have a negative rating. It makes you feel you can't trust the locals and puts you a bit on edge, especially when they're having a go at you and there's an enemy just round the corner. Loved it.

Is the soundscape by Laxeman? If so make sure you have the latest version. Version 0.20 had a memory leak which slowed down the whole game to a crawl, It's had a couple of updates since then which have dramatically improved performance. Version 0.30 fixed the memory leak. With the older version I had to pause the game when I got to a chapel to allow the game to catch up and execute the scripts. By the time I'd realised I'd missed the body at a chapel and only found it when I went back again. It took me over 30 hours to finish that mission.

TPW MODS: enhanced realism and immersion for Arma 3 SP.

I don't know if TPW FALL is responsible for this, but when I shot an enemy who was not wearing any headgear, as he fell he suddenly sprouted a hat. Is this part of the fall animation?- 5767 replies

But the contents of a vehicle may have been accumulated after several hours work and contain some difficult to find items. Losing that would be like going back to the start. Having said that, I left a Strider loaded with goodies while I attacked a stronghold, but when I got attacked I mistook for an enemy and destroyed it. I wondered why it wasn't there when I went back for it. Luckily I had another vehicle and had split the loot between them. Logistics certainly takes a lot of time collecting the loot to sell it, put in a vehicle, move it to another vehicle or into a stash. Anything to speed up that process would be welcome. The mission I finished this morning took 19 hours to complete. It included the charge of the light brigade as my three AI teamates and I rolled down the runway of Molos airfield in 2 captured T100 tanks. All the infantry had formed together into a platoon except for a squad in some ruined buildings. It was absolute mayhem. Unfortunately I got carried away and forgot to press record until it was over.

I don't think Moduload is needed for those mods, but I would run it anyway as it won't work unless it's installed when you start the mission. I use moduload all the time and the list of mods it re-initialises is quite long, although I got it to restart the mag repacking mod. Moduload doesn't cause any performance issues for me and there is no reason for it to do so. I think the problem with the game slowing down in really long missions is that all changes to the map are stored and are reloaded all the time. The longer you go on the more there are, like that bit of fence you knocked down at the start of the mission is still knocked down when you go back 10 hours later after you've been all over Altis. It might not make much difference over a couple of hours, but I rarely finish a mission in under 10 hours now I go for the airfields and strongholds. One recent mission was over 30 hours (due in part to a misbehaving mod which turned the whole game into slow motion). The file that records that information must get really massive when you cover the whole map and even the AI are destroying things as well. Sooner or later, especially later, it is bound to start impacting on performance. I did have a problem with a fluid movement mod that wouldn't re-initialise even using Moduload, so I removed it for future missions.

That is just the point though. You can watch other people drinking their beer, but if you want to taste it you have to buy your own. BIS even let you have a taste but you won't get enough to get drunk. Otherwise you'll just have to make do with the free buffet of sling loading and firing from vehicles.

Unfortunately the end of your mission has happened to us all on more than one occasion. I guessed that an update would accompany the release of the helicopter DLC so made sure that I finished my current mission the night before. Unfortunately that meant leaving 2 assassination missions at an airfield undone while I concentrated on the search instead. I had also managed to acquire 3 sniper rifles and 140 rounds between them and didn't get a chance to use them. Lack of AT was crippling, especially when I encountered the Stomper. I had to lead it through a rock field knowing that the AI in it wouldn't be able to cope and would end up immobilising itself. Even then it had a commanding view of the town, and there were four chapels to check. I couldn't speak to the locals as the Stomper was quite happily mowing them all down. It wasn't any of the chapels in town and turned out to be one outside town. Nearly six hours, only four kills, but surprisingly I managed it without dying. I think that is a first for me.

[OPEN BETA] [SP] bCombat infantry AI Mod
alky_lee replied to fabrizio_t's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
There has been a discussion about the "Hold Fire" command in the AI discussion forum. Apparently there are circumstances where the AI will open fire when told to hold fire, and there is no foolproof way of preventing this with the commands available. -
I was in a T100 engaging infantry from a range of 1200-1500m and thought that I was safe. The next thing I got hit by an AT round and there weren't any other enemies closer. I have tested this in the editor and AT soldiers are quite happy to engage from 1.5km away. They don't always spot a target at that distance, but once they get engaged they will quite happily respond.

I am currently playing a mission with TPW with no problems. I recently had a problem with TPW and found that the version of the config.hpp file did not correspond to the version of the mod. I deleted everything and downloaded the latest version of the mod from the Dropbox link and then completed a clean manual install, and everything works fine now. I also had to move CBA into the Steamapps/coomon/Arma 3 folderrather than the My Documents/Arma 3 folder where everything had worked fine until recently.

I was wondering if some of the problems I am having could be caused by performance issues, so that the scripts may not be completing correctly. I am using quite a few mods, including an old version of Laxeman's ES which had two variables round the wrong way and was causing a memory leak, which manifests itself more as the mission goes on. Last night my FPS dropped to 1 or less at one time although it managed to recover. I intend to try and finish this mission first before updating any mods and trying again. There seem to be quite a few clipping issues with 1.32. My companion got out of a vehicle and then walked through the middle of it. I was shot by a BTR through a shipping container I had taken cover behind. When I shut down last, my companion had sunk into the floor of the building we were in. Hopefully he won't be trapped when I resume. Having said that, it is nothing new, I once went prone in a building and got trapped beneath the floor and couldn't get out. I had to load a previous save. That was in 1.12.

I noticed this today. Also the option to unpack the hideout from the vehicle didn't appear all the time. When I did unpack the hideout, the map marker for it remained in the original location. EDIT: I also noticed that some of the positioning seemed a bit off. The hideout I packed in the vehicle was found right at the side of the road. At first I thought it was a roadblock, then I saw the campfire and thought it might be gipsies who had stopped at the side of the road, but it turned out to be a hideout. I also had two hideouts right next to each other, although starting in the dark really hlps to find them. I started at 3am, and had found 5 hideouts by daybreak. On a roadblock a static MG was facing towards the roadblock. It was like the camo netting, etc had been placed outside the roadblock area. At the airfield I found a T100 next to a BTR Kamysh with nothing on the far side. It is still an awesome mission, even if the AI don't seem to be affected by my GMG rounds unless they land on their heads. I need to clear them out so that I can go and claim their T100 that I've disabled.

It happens in SP (stable & dev branch). is an example in a singleplayer mission. It has happened recently with the helicopter crashing sounds, although not for long as I was dead.Feedback Tracker ticket http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=21114 Looks like it has been reported twice before, but not resolved because it couldn't be reproduced.

CBA - Community Base Addons - ARMA 3
alky_lee replied to vipermaul's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I have come across this problem as well. Since the start I have had @CBA_A3 in the My Documents/Arma 3 folder with no problems until I updated CBA recently. I see that the installation instructions require it to be installed in the SteamApps/Arma 3 folder. I have installed the latest version in there and I can save and load games as normal now, and without other error messages popping up either. -
They have updated CBA this week which should squash a few bugs. The latest version is RC4. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=18767

Approaching the island in an unarmed vehicle probably is not advisable unless you have dealt with the UGV first. A chopper is rarer than hen's teeth. If you attack an airfield, often the chopper is destroyed in the process. Also may have difficulty using it's weapons if you are on your own. The only realistic option is an armed version of a Strider or a Marid, which you will probably have to fight for unless you are lucky enough to find one disabled by ambient combat. The other two amphibious vehicles are the Gorgon and the Marshal. Regarding the fuel in Alex's boat, I have always assumed that he would have set off with a full tank, so he obviously did not have enough to get back again

I tried out another war story today. OPFOR v FIA. 3 - 1 Lots of armour each on a large battlefield. I thought this would be a quick victory. However the OPFOR leader went straight on the defensive. We were defending Orini and I was driving an unarmed Ifrit on my own and got sent to the rear of the battlefield while our artillery battled it out with their mortars. Once their mortars were down, I got bored and used the radio menu to change to a new random role. I ended up as a team leader of a team of explosives experts. We were right at the front, and I lost my team and the BTR behind me was taken out along with a whole squad who couldn't get away quick enough. I retreated into Orini while a sea of FIA poured forward. They were no match for the artillery in the open countryside, and any that made to Orini I dealt with. The assault was defeated and then we reached a stalemate with neither side attacking. The problem with our side was that we had 10 artillery pieces as our armour but nothing offensive to attack with. Similarly FIA had their numbers reduced too much to launch another assault, so we ended up with about 1km of no man's land with each army on different sides of a hill. Then I realised that I had downloaded the beta version but not installed it, so I was still using version 1.05. At least I didn't make the mistake of going forward and trying to take on a whole army by myself. I did notice that the markers got messed up again with redundant markers being left on the map and the artillery continued to fire at them until I went to look and confirmed no enemy at the locations. I used the radio menu option to change the map markers which cleared them. As I scouted forward and identified enemy positions, the artillery on the map stated that they were engaging the targets. When it got to the splash, I was watching but didn't see any rounds arrive on target. Would the on-map simulation still occur when they have run out of rounds? I have made sure that I have installed the latest version for my next story.

CBA - Community Base Addons - ARMA 3

I have been getting an error message when starting Arma about XEH requiring CAdata. I am on the dev branch. I tried removing all mods which didn't work. However if I start with A3MP the error message does not appear. Very strange -
There was a lot of entries. It also may depend on what the system goes through before it decides that there is an error. I deleted the squad Bravo 2, and the FPS issue has disappeared as well, so I am pretty sure that the pathfinding issue was responsible for the severe FPS slowdown.

I am creating my own mission in the editor, however when playing through the mission, my FPS is dropping down into single figures. When I checked the RPT log I found a lot of spam about an invalid path. I thought that this may relate to a missing file, but I suspect that it may relate to an AI character/squad and their waypoints. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this error as I suspect it is causing the FPS slowdown. I have included an excerpt from the RPT log showing the error. Is there anything that can be done to get AI to go through animated gates such as bar gates.? I have tried to force a convoy of AI to drive through an open bar gate and they refuse, even if there is no other way round. Someone has raised an issue on the feedback tracker which I have added to. http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=14688

I34dKarma's Roadblock Site Script
alky_lee replied to I34dKarma's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I thought this had been fixed, although I haven't used the script since. I just made my own roadblocks for the mission. The problem I have found is that AI will not go through a bar gate. There is a ticket on the feedback tracker http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=14688 -
TPW MODS: enhanced realism and immersion for Arma 3 SP.
alky_lee replied to tpw's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
He can't deny that, he has to take the credit for this brilliant mod. As regards Skirmish, most users don't install TPW Mods for the Skirmish module. I disable it when I install the mod, and consider it an extra feature that can be used if desired. I agree that it should be disabled by default, but there could be a bit more information about how to use it. I tried it out in one of my own missions, and the enemy got wiped out along with their air support and I never fired a shot. So I then tagged along with some BLUFOR units, but I didn't have time to see what developed, so I really don't know what it is capable of. I had updated TPW Mods one day and forgot to disable Skirmish when I tried out a new mission from the Workshop. It took me a while to realise that the combat wasn't actually part of the mission. I had to disable Skirmish and start the mission again. I consider that to be my mistake, but could have been avoided if it was disabled by default. I love TPW Mods and always try to customise it in relation to the mission I am playing, but sometimes you have to try the mission first to see what works and what doesn't. As tpw is away at the moment, nothing will change for the next couple of weeks anyway.- 5767 replies

I also turn off EBS & LOS as well. I don't know if they interfere with AC at all, but I thought that they might, so I disabled them.

I tried one of my missions with TPW skirmish. All the enemy, and their air support, were wiped out and I never fired a shot. Once you have disabled it, you will probably have to start a new mission for the new setting to take effect.
