FPS lag for everybody in MP when people get stuck in ruined buildings or rocks.
RushHour replied to twin's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Some even have inbuilt explosions in the ruins, always nice to hide in a ruin then get launched like a ragdoll 50m up in the air for no reason whatsoever. -
Possible High-Quality Helicopters for Selection - STRICT Selection
RushHour replied to CaptainAzimuth's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
For Civs i´d like to see something exotic like a Sikorsky X2 or Eurocopter X3. Both doing 400+ is pretty damn cool. -
lol E-sports is dying :) Now that´s something you don´t read every day.
-
it exists and yes it´s a tent. If it works or not i can´t answer.

Possible High-Quality Helicopters for Selection - STRICT Selection
RushHour replied to CaptainAzimuth's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Hoping to see Mi-26 on the Opfor side. What a beast of a machine that is. -
Yea i don´t think i´ve seen the lightspeed flying cars in EUTW´s servers but i´ve seen the superlong dsyncing moments, the one vehicle situated 200m up in the sky for no reason at all, the prolonged lag spikes where the game just crushes your computer down to 5 fps for a solid 10 seconds regardless of how much cream you have in the box etc.
-
Add the fire mode button to that. I can hear people reloading or changing their firemode from over 200m away. I think last time we checked i clocked it at 250 something meters.
-
Would love to see this! Just imagine the first dsync live on air. People asking when the pilot will take off in which he responds he´s already at the LZ. Add in the hovering cars in the skies, the random deaths, the lag spikes that we all come to love by now. So i´d say hell yes. Proper entertainment. - No but seriously, i think CTI or Conquest would work great for E-sports. TacBF would be cool too, assuming people actually play it.
-
And i´ll be damn if they ignore bipods this time...
-
But it does. And no by my logic this problem would only ever be present if they changed the flight model. which they have.
-
I literally have this idea in my head every single day. If anyone reading this contemplating the same issue i can only say "DO IT".

How is it not? the PhysX engine is crap (as proven time and time again) and i added that we might in the future get something better. Also this isn´t a PhysX thread so diverting from the PhysX discussion is minute at best.
-
Yea damage model is ok in Race 07. But the problem wtih official licensing is that the manufacturer decides how good your damage model is. but for Arma i´d happily take that damage model. If only Arma would take this approach to simulation.. About 14 minutes in for the truly technical stuff.
-
by creating a lighting model that is scientifically accurate. If it is that then it will produce scientifically accurate lighting. (regardless of the environment) Not raytracing but maybe something similar but much more dumbed down to gameplay levels. (still retains the realistic properties largely but doesn´t produce the result a render would) I´ll check the next game i play with the tips you gave.

There´s a reason why no sim developer won´t touch PhysX with a stick. It´s because it´s shit, and always will be shit. I´m hoping that one developer on here that talked about incorporating a physics model from the outside will get this thing through. I believe he said he had talked about it in the office, someone probably knows the full story better.

The difference is experience yes (as Nod said). An example would be me who has been simracing for many many years. When i tried F1 2010 i simply could not drive it because it gave no feedback at all about the tires or the amount of grip i had through the wheel. But a complete beginner in any form of racing would find F1 2010 to be absolutely stellar. So a flight simmer trying Arma 3 would be appalled while the guy who´s been running Battlefield for the last year would love the model and think it´s very realistic. In terms of technical knowledge or learning curve, make it an option. Problem solved. But make a realistic model first as a base, then you dumb it down for the casual flight fan. that way the hardcore group gets what they want and the inexperienced guy gets an easy aircraft to fly that is fundamentally very good at it´s core (which probably creates an even better dumbed down model)
-
If this was 7 years ago i´d say yes :) Frankly Simbin died after GTR2, then they turned soft.
-
So as a simracer myself i´m curious now to see how you can drive. Also, learn to drive? We are talking about collision physics, not driver abilities although i´m more then happy to see how qualified you are in the driving department. - Not only does tires disappear, they also launch the glorious texture of having your car filled with bullet holes even though nobody has fired a single shot. Canned textures ultra extraordinaire. On top of that there´s really no damage model to speak of in this game.

Would you pay for "modern warfare" dlc
RushHour replied to Sterlingarcherz101's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Arm 3 DLC - Fixing shit that´s broken. Now that one i´ll look forward to. -
I have, and the fence loses every single time. No it´s not naive, it´s a SUV which goes through the most stringest crash tests there is in existence before it´s allowed to be sold. Having a tire magically disappear and then the car blow up like crazy is nothing but BS and has no relation to the real world. The fences are wooden sticks with about 1,5m of fence stuck on it. Usually not even connected to the rest of the fences. It´s gonna lose every single time.

Sounds like a small fix rather then actually fixing the problem underneath. I doubt other game developers manually add occlusion LOD´s in every single wall to produce a rendering deadzone just to create the appearance of having a scientifically accurate lighting model.
-
Although absolutely dwarfed in comparison to the positivity on being so open. Instead of questions being answered we get Rep this and Rep that.
-
It sure does. At least make it a bit more scientifically accurate. I´ve put a camping lantern inside the house. look at the ground close to the wall for example. http://i.imgur.com/6UMx0x3.png (547 kB)

Talk about communication, look at Chris Roberts for example. Like day and night

Fixed Wing Flight Model (dev branch)
RushHour replied to dezkit's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
This isn´t correct. An airplane wing will always produce lift (until you stall it) Flip and airplane upside down and it will generate lift straight down (In Formula 1 this is called downforce which is just another word for lift) Flip and airplane 90 degrees and you will produce lift that will pull your plane to the right. It won´t just magically stop functioning as a wing because you put it dead straight in the air. (the air could not care less if you are banked or not) the wing is still shaped the same way as if you were flying straight with lift being generated on the top side of the wing.- 874 replies
