    The New York City Project

I wish making things functional for AI was not thought of as bonus work. PLEASE get these working for AI. So many good maps become worthless for AI. With other games MP and SP are cut and dry. It's one or the other. In Arma most MP missions end up being coop because a lot of missions include squads that have AI in it. And it sucks when the best place to fight won't let AI stay with humans. They stay outside or get stuck because they won't walk up a simple set of stairs. You end up only playing out in the open terrain. AI won't go near a lot of rocks, won't drive near trees. Some maps just get skipped when it comes to creating missions. With bi's open world playability, it's difficult when there are AI dead zones. You worked hard on these buildings, they look great. I can't wait to use them. I know it's easy to not worry about AI, but it's definitely worth the effort. Well that's assuming that you care that others want to use your work. Some don't care if people use them or like them etc. But they look good. I can't wait to use them. There are a lot of objects, past and present, that would look good inside the buildings for mission makers to use. Thanks for the effort. AI or not, it's definitely appreciated.
  2. Has anyone noticed that the rear window on the SUV is not in place? It's on crooked. It's as if someone turned the window about 30 degrees
  3. Maybe a dumb question but what does ctrg mean?
  4. I'm glad they got the ramp to work on the h barrier watchtower. Now can you do something about it's bad textures, Having dark, black shadows all over it makes it look bad. The same with the other h barriers walls (excluding the ones that you had in OA and A2. But glad to see you are at least working on it. Now if you can let units walk on the deck of the trawler we should be happy.
  5. Man, what did they do to Arma 3 that made this addon so complicated. You would think you were taking something from another game entirely and putting it in arma. It used to be a single pbo and now I have to jump through hoops trying to get each individual thing to work. I need training missions to figure out how to use it all again. Well, thanks for all the effort you put into it.
  6. Playing as team member rather than team leader showed me something that should be different, or fixed. My teammates were wounded and they had already used their First Aid kits. In this particular reference, the leader just kept going and didn't order anyone to heal anyone else. So I went up to one of my team while we were all moving and selected "treat rifleman". I didn't want him going in to the fight already wounded. When I pushed treat, I went through the animation to heal, but he kept running away. So is there any way that you can get that guy to stop? If someone was ordered to heal me, I would be on the floor right when he got to me. Can you make it so AI stop when someone initiates a "treat". And on that same note, you should also get the squad leader to slow down or stop when he gets too far away from team. The Campaign had the squad leader just take off. One mission he took off while the rest of the team was over 50 meters away. So he triggers opfor attack before were ready and gets killed. So maybe you should "train" squad leaders to never leave a man behind. I think in OA the SL would end up walking if he got too far.
  7. Speaking of the script, I noticed that there are no more "logs" or "diary" or whatever. I can't remember what my team leader said to me and I need to be able to go to the map and Look at what everyone said. I also noticed talk about the voice actors. One thing that needs to get fixed, that happens every version of the game back to OFP. If you are going to need someone yelling or arguing and loud or mad, you need to record it that way. You guys always record those things with the guy pretending to be mad with no volume. Think back to when you played with G.I. Joes' or whatever you played with. Where you pretend to have them yell or whatever where your voice can't be heard from 20 feet away, but you have that "quiet yell voice" so no one tells you to shut up. When you record that, don't get your mad voice. Get mad! Yell it or say it just as loud as you would for real. Leave it up to the mixers to turn it down rather than you try to say it at a quiet level. Thank you for your cooperation :)
  8. I didn't realize I only needed to kill enemies. The task specifically says to take out the guard towers. I wiped out a bunch of people once and the mission failed. But thinking about it, isn't mortars about the worst thing you would want to do anyway? I mean it's the most important thing on the island. If you don't accidentally take out the radar itself, Don't you think it relies on more than just the actual radar? I mean all the equipment and computers and etc could be in the buildings next to it. Everything is probably wired together, hitting the wrong building can make the operations of it useless. No one in their right mind would risk anything more than precision strikes on the compound. And I didn't want to bring this up but putting a showcase mission in the campaign is bad form. This game really wasn't ready to release yet was it? At the very least, you should have took the 5 minutes it took to copy and paste the showcase into the campaign, to improve other aspects of the campaing or missions if you couldn't throw a mission together. And for those who think the showcase was created FROM the campaign, then it shouldn't have been made a showcase. More re-used material. Oh, and you do realize Maxwell would have been disentigrated in real life if war was like campaign. Everyone wiped out and guys are sitting around? Out in the open with equipment in plain sight. A blackfoot down that close and guys are sitting around?
  9. I'm confused as to which section we are supposed to put campaign stuff in. It should only be this one right. Since in the Arma3 (non development branch) hasn't got the campaign yet. But both threads are talking about the same thing. Anyway, can someone help me with the "radio silence" mission? I have been playing it for almost 2 hours and have not had mortars hit a single target yet. Outside of the one or two times it hit a different target than what I told them to hit. They all just land randomly. No joke, i'm getting mortars landing 50 to 70 meters away. I've tried single shot to 5 shots and not one hit a single guard tower. I can't pass the mission without taking them out. It also says I can call out targets without the map. How? by looking at a target through binoculars when I call out to fire? It says I need both to adjust fire, but every adjustment just gives me another set of random drops
  10. The "radio silence" mission is frustrating me. Are the mortars supposed to be completely worthless? In OA they had pretty good accuracy. Now it's like flipping a coin. Below may or may not be a spoiler but I can't find how to do it. For example: I call in 1 round to land on the guard tower. It lands about 20 feet in front of it. This time I gave coordinates targeting 20 feet behind it. It landed 20 feet in front. Another, targeted dead center for the guard tower and it landed 30 feet behind it and 20 feet to the side of it. I used every single round without hitting anything I aimed at. And I did use the proper way to do this. Actually 1 did land on the HQ which is one I am supposed to hit, but it was hit when I was aiming at a different one.
  11. I'm having a weird issue with gearing up at the beginning of mission "Maxwell". The part after the briefing when you are re arming. I started mission with an Independent auto rifle that I took in the previous mission. When I start arming I find I now have a GL rifle The first ammo box has only rifles. It has a mx and mxc. It also has my stolen autorifle. I take the auto rifle then waste some time looking around. So I now restart the mission in order to be quicker now that I know whats in everything. So here's the problem: The first start ( before any saves or restart) The table in front of me has 3 (or 4) rifles on it. The ammo box has 3 or 4 types of rifles. One of those is my auto rifle. The first time I restart, the table in front of me has one less rifle. The ammo box no longer has my auto rifle in it. So I restart again. The second restart gets worse. Now there are NO rifles in the ammo box. It's completely empty. I exited to the main start screen and go back to campaign and revert to restart the Maxwell mission. But nothing changed. The ammo box remains empty.
  12. Just in case this wasn't mentioned yet, There is no button to start the campaign. I could only start it by double clicking on the "survive". No start button.
  13. I just tried running into a electrical pole with a varsuk. Big problem. I wanted to see if the hightension wires would fall after my tank hit it. No. What happened was my tank bounced off of it and vaulted into the air at the same height as the wires. I did a few flips OVER A HOUSE, then landed on my treads like a cat. I don't think an electrical pole would win a fight with a tank. Especially launching a tank into the air.
  14. Bi, PLEASE, go through Altis and get rid of 70% of all the rock mounds. I have not had one single mission where vehicles get stuck on them. They are everywhere in major quantities. I have tried making a large scale tank battle and I can't because there are no big areas that are not swamped with rock mounds. Most small vehicles get stuck all the time. Tanks get stuck everytime they hit one that is going parallel to them. Sure I can find a few areas that are clear, but are not good places for a battle. Especially when there are places where there is narrow passages. Like a mountain on one side of the road and water on the other. I can't use the 50 meters between the road and water because of the rock mounds. All 20 tanks have to stay on the road. And the vehicles still get stuck on small rocks and don't back up. They just sit there. A whole tank platton hung up on a small rock.
  15. Where are the new weapons? Do any existing units carry them now or are they only in ammo box, etc. On the small items (I can't say this enough but..) What good are they if there is no 3d editor? Being smaller, guessing then play the game, then exit, then adjust, then open the game, etc.. will get really old. They are more for decoration and feel, but who would want to spend all that time guessing. Even with the 3D editor they already have, you can't save the height, so still more guessing. Is the British uniform camo something that they would actually use? The Camp Maxwell bug is back. In the editor, playing a mission, push esc and Camp Maxwell appears above the save and exit option
  16. I wanted to know how to read the .bin files. I thought I remember a tool I used before but can't seem to find it. Using notepad isn't very effective. Thanks
  17. Why don't people die when you shoot them in the head? I was using blu recon team. I pulled out my handgun (with the silencer on) and I shot a teammate in the head. He had a beanie on and didn't die. I shot a second guy (who was wearing a boonie hat) 4 times in the head before he died. The same guy, I shot with my rifle and he survived a bullet in the head. Yesterday I shot a greenfor guy with my rifle and he took 2 bullets to his upper body without reacting. Third shot made him react. 4th killed him. We need a little work done with damage control.
  18. I found an issue with giving orders. I am commander in an Opfor tank platoon. Usually when I select all units and give them a stop order, they say something to the effect of "ok" then they stop. But it doesn't work anymore. They don't acknowledge and they keep driving. The problem occurs when I have all selected. I can only get it to work if I de-select the units in my tank. It has always worked by selecting all units. Hopefully you can switch it back. It's one of the few commands that I don't have to dig through layers of command options. I don't have to look at the keyboard, taking my eyes off the screen. Just space bar and stop.
  19. The way it is set up is correct. I'm actually not sure of which buttons you want to push, your English isn't terribly good ( no offense). If you are static, as you say, keeping one tread stopped would make you move forward in a big circle. Right now when you turn, one tread moves forward and the other reverses. That is what keeps you in one spot. Both work and are correct, but the outcome is different. If you want to stay static, holding your position, both treads need to move (forward on one side, reverse on other). If you want to stay in a general spot, with a big radius, then one tread moves forward and other stopped. Actually, wouldn't keeping one tread stopped be hell on the treads/wheels. The treads are like 30 feet long but the point at which it turns would only be a couple feet. The forward and rear parts of the tread would slide sideways as you turned. Picture someone making snow angels. You might damage the treads and wheels by putting all pressure sideways when they are made to move forward and backward. So you don't want to have one tread stopped. Both need to move. Maybe slightly, but still need to move. Oh, and if you wanted the ability to move both treads separately, you wouldn't use one button (W) to move forward. You would need to use 2 separate buttons like "w" and "e" to move. Moving both treads independently.

3D Editor in the version right now?

What do you mean by "everything I place seems to stand way off"? Well, if you still check this thread, I can answer some of your questions. I've been using it a lot lately and I absolutely hate it. Hell, I would pay bohemia interactive to release a DLC that contained only a working 3d editor. The RTE for A2 was awesome and bi can't even come close to that, yet a user created it and it was perfect. I was starting to think I could actually get used to bi's 3d editor. I can work around some of the issues. But they give us a bunch of objects, like fortifications and construction equipments, etc. Things that you ABSOLUTELY MUST be placed in a 3d editor for accurate placement or else it's all guess work. But it's still pointless because you can't make anything flat. Everything follows the terrain. So fortifications end up leaning to the side. Not only that but it will not put items at height. No matter how high you put them, they always start the game on the ground. AND AND AND you can't put them into the 2d editor because the 3d saves it in a different file type. So you can't set vectors in order to make them flat and can't enter the height in the init for it. Cause there is no init. It just baffles me how such a reputable company can't (WON'T) develop a simple working 3d editor. And it sucks because bi heavily relies on the community to make addons, like the RTE editor I love so much. This game would have been dead a long time ago if it weren't for community made addons. I do thank them for creating such a great game though.
  21. •Gunner of SDV is now able to turn his head correctly Hey, I have a wacky idea. How about you put the right crew in the opfor SDV, then worry about his dumb head.
  22. I don't see why they couldn't just leave the helicopters with doors that can open and close. I understand why they closed all doors in vehicles but helis actually fly with them open or closed. Not too many cars drive around with open doors. However, even if it wasn't on all vehicles, doors that can open can provide extremely needed cover in situations. Better than getting gunned down in the street with no cover.
  23. I've been having issues with high command. It hasn't worked for me but the reason is weird. Left ctrl + space is the only keybinding for it, yet it doesn't work. but when I added a second keybinding it did work. For some reason the regular keybinding doesn't work at all for me. There is no other action using that left ctrl + space so I don't get it, but at least it works now with other keys. I probably have an addon that is interfering.
  24. yes. I used left+ctrl and space. I get nothing. I used opfor. 5 groups synced to sub-sub synced to commander. commander synced to me. Did you try it today or previously? I even went into configuration and made sure I didn't accidentally change keybindings. I've done it over and over and over and it never works.
  25. I hate to interrupt the rain thread but does High Command work or not? Can anyone please try it? I have asked twice already. It's not working for me for some reason. I always used to use it with no trouble at all. I've tried every combination of syncing and grouping etc. Also, I would like to add to ZedderZulu's comment about the Opfor SDV still having the Blufor crew. How can it still be after all this time? It's just an extremely simple thing to fix and it would take a whole minute of someone's time. And yes, I know no one uses it, so please don't use that as an answer again. Thank you.
