Ending theories (Win related, spoilers of course)
suiside replied to Holden93's topic in ARMA 3 - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
just a thought... miller works for black ops and has his mission, not the same as kerry who works for nato as a regular, both missions can conflict with each other like the dutch missions in afghanistan did in the first years of the war there, our ops teams fought active war against afghans while our regular troops fought for the hearts and minds, road building and setting up schools and what not that our spec ops destroyed if needed. (this is rather black and white but this is reality in a lot of cases)(no afghan was part of 911 nor any taliban so why fight them or even full scale invade the country ?) *sorry for the politics it is purely to illustrate* CSAT (can i say BRICS ?) goes to altis (greece as now the chinese bought some realestate for navy assets) and do some research, real life is like the game and vise versa. back to miller. miller has the objective to obtain the "Tremornator 3000" while regular nato troops are even unaware of its existence (who imagined stealth prior to the early '80's ?) to get it he attacks AAF on stratis who in return attack nato, because who else would be there ? firing at AAF ? war ensues and miller has a fog to operate in, but CSAT realizes the fishy smell and gets in the fight, partially to retrieve their asset and partially because there might be an agreement like article 5 in nato ? we don't know the real deal because we lack the politics, but my guess is that miller is the bad guy here simply because his mission which is not to destroy the Tremornator 3000 but to obtain it, meaning they want to use it them self (the ones who gave miller his mission). for all we know the CSAT forces stole it when going in to turkey, trying to figure it out on altis and not in their native countries because that would mess up their own gardens ? i know it is messy and dirty politics etc. but it makes sense to me -
i don't know if this should be in this thread or the dlc thread but i'll post it here because it is development i guess. since we do not have the simulated start in the cockpit as was done in TOH can you at least animate it ? so it takes more time to get off ground and shows you an animation of vehicle start rather than just engine start ? make that guy use the cockpit if only animation ? this would at least for me and maybe others give some feel of actually seeing what should be done and does not get you in the air in 10 seconds which kinda sucks. (like you have your escape and you lift off in no time ? as if everything is warm and ready in a static/parked helicopter, just takes the edge away if you are chased by some guys trying to kill you) would be nice like mentioned before to have the collective and foot pedal animations as well. thanks and sorry if this should be in the other thread.

really like what you are doing :D you might use the body as accessories and lenses as main, since lenses are most of the weight (if tele lenses) or do what bis did with pre configured weapons ? (not meant to bugger you about weight and such but it is just that my setup at home weights about 4.2 kg. and has great impact on my stamina/fatigue, and it is far more clumsy to walk /run with than a rifle of that weight)
-
doesn't "F12" give you a menu on screen ? (i got my screenshot on "break/pauze" button) and will you do specific lenses like sigma 50-500mm or canon 70-200mm L is usm ? (or nikon etc.) please consider weight to hold it steady etc. (i do make photos of aircraft irl and walking with my lens all day in hand does strain my arms :D)

this is really nice :D will follow this one !

greek wrestling dlc anyone ?

not every kill shot is a shot closer to survival if it is not the aim to kill but to survive there is no need to shoot the question is "do you Want the shot or do you Need it" sometimes it is good to be the idiot spraying, because an idiot can fool the masses

irl you have a heartbeat and vision issues, (vision issues like tunnel vision etc.) when fatigued, i really miss the heartbeat sensation, because any one who ever sprinted (for example) in an instant or any one who climbed a steep hill at a good pace knows the heart is felt through out the body and can even be heard as blood rushes past your eardrums. that would be a good indicator, i've seen screens of goggle mods where the outline is black, they could use that kind of indicator with a not pitch black but more alpha shaded color pulsing at a simulated heart beat, narrowing and darkening as one is more fatigued. then there is no bar no meter no number, but like in real life a sort of tunnel vision and heart beat, which might also be slightly audible in my perspective edit: might be toggled on or off, and dependend on skill settings.

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
suiside replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
the take on helicopter sample helicopter would be nice, if i had any luck skill and or knowledge of modding i'd put it in myself but i fail miserably, so if any one could do that it would make me happy and maybe others as well. and maybe a survival module, which you could place in the editor to make it so that you have hunger thirst and health combined, as it is nice to have those options, but not mandatory, i missed it in the adapt mission for example when you are beached and likely dehydrated and hungry, felt like a good thing to have but was not there. it would also be good for medical things to be able or to be forced to hydrate or drink to regain health or recover stamina. -
i got the hoover mode on the pinky switch which is working for me, otherwise nice set up

the football scene would be nice for some civ module

http://www.got2dayz.nl/ maybe here, i was looking for the same thing this morning but having read some scripts and opened up pbo's i get scared of all that text and stuff i don't understand. would love this eat and drink health stuff as some kind of module or stripped version of a base mission like wasteland or dayz. edit (downloaded from here this morning http://a3wasteland.com/ & https://raw.githubusercontent.com/A3Wasteland/Release_Files/master/A3Wasteland_v0.9g.Altis.pbo) i found it googling around, if i am not to post this link please mods remove if some one takes offense -
High resolution PDF/Image Altis Map - free license
suiside replied to mecharius's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
for those who have the deluxe edition and thus the original map included in it, could we use it with this editor if the editor linked the original file in our own folder on our own computer to the gui ? so that the editor does not come with the map but uses the owners map instead ? -
this is about the kart dlc right ? what has optimization got to do with it ?? it is probably not even the same team/dev (s) who does work on the dlc implementation and the engine work so why is this a topic here ? dlc implementation is also valid work. and on the side track topic, how many will ever get 120 pfs on arma anyway ? 2% of gamers ? on the kart dlc note, i like it and it does have some nice options for mission design.

maybe make it like a "turn on" or "remove safety" on the vehicle or weapon ? or like a "remove before flight" flag and "safety lock" which when removed gives you a less intrusive pop up like steam notification to buy ? just trying to imagine it in game... (edit) or have a sticker in the cockpit that says "arma 3 rental" and decal on the side of the heli but only for the non buying player visible not others, and a "rent a gun" on the gun ? have an option to remove sticker and get a buy option ?
-
they might consider a slightly less intrusive system where they use the click away pop up in the loading screens, and lobby of MP sessions, and a slightly less detailed but not as low as arma 2 dlc textures. this way it does not kill the game experience much and the pop ups do not interfere with game play but both remind you of having the option to buy a slightly better quality and asset.

ammo in ammobox in challange 1 is still 9mm while the weapon in the first range is now .45

funny thing is that when you see the forum here or at armaholic that traffic is your revenue, maybe for some it is a burden but it is also a prize to have visitors, but my point was that i think that steam will decrease interest in the whole community and will focus solely on the finished products thereof, like play with six, now there is an increase in users, but what when steam makes it all too simple, six will be less utilized, would that make him happy ? and bad mouthing pws will increase due to the steam ease because fewer will try play with six. people will lose touch with the modders because of automatic updates and thus it will be less looking for updates and appreciating progress reports and such. but if you see it more positive and a plus that there will be less thinking involved in getting mods and installing mods with all that follows with that, (just look at politics for one big example) thats great, i hope you are right and that people and steam will respect and read up on and give fair platform to modders and the community in general. my experience tells me that when things get more simple people get more simple and this comes with consequences.

steam already exploits the works of others via steam works, as they publish it it seems as though they lose money as host for a free service but in addition they gain FREE content and put it in THEIR basket, if you were to host it yourself besides STEAM, THEY might come after you because YOU WAVED your IP. they monopolize your work so you can not make a dime if it was possible. then again they get the traffic and attention and your site and add revenue get nothing you lose on that front as the whiny whimps who can't get a mod installed want it easy on steam. because they claim ownership which you signed away they get the traffic and thus more customers. this also means less diversity in community website traffic and thus loss of revenue even if not monetary to the larger community. sorry if it is all gloomy and negative, but it has to be said.
