    Woah hold up, wasn't meaning to imply anything of the sort :) I just wanted to point out that the default controls for the helos isn't too bad as they are. I've been flying using the same controls since Flashpoint and believe you me I was total rubbish at it. I just stuck with it because I enjoyed helicopters. In all honesty my flying only started to tighten up last year when I made it a point to become a better MH-6 pilot in ArmA 2. So that's a significant number of hours getting to where I am now with room to improve. What you don't see is the thousand crashes it took to get there hehe. For the record I've been gaming since the age of 4, which puts me quite neatly at 27 years of gaming total. So if you've indeed been gaming longer than I've been alive I have to say that's quite a respectable feat sir! :D Tell you what, if you can let me know specifically the things you are having trouble with, I can attempt to make a video to help you out.

    Nope, you can even grab optics off a completely different weapon family and it will be zeroed correctly. I suspect that currently in Alpha all weapons are using the same ballistic curve but with different damage values.

    It should be noted that in ArmA 2 and 3 Alpha even with TrackIR you only have 6DoF in the AH-9/MH-9. Infantry in A3A is pitch/yaw and horizontal pan Vehicles are pitch/yaw and roll except for the H-9s.

    That's just painfully artificial. In real life the difference in dispersion between a 20" and 16" barrel is so negligible it's not even worth mention. For that matter, the difference in drop between a 20" and 16" barrel is under 4" at 500m. If you want to change anything just make it so that optic compatibility is tied to weapons. Even Acogs have BDCs that are spec'd to barrel lengths.

    Worth mentioning that with many cartridges that velocity usually doesn't have a huge effect on accuracy (groupsize) in practice. The drop on a 10inch sbr will obviously be greater than a 14inch gun but they will often shoot comparable groups. Terminal ballistics is a wholly different story. Muzzle blast and flash out of shorter barrels will be... dramatically profound :)

    There are such a thing as room clearing tactics you know. And by the way leaning around a doorframe will get you killed rather quick regardless of how you slice it. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind having blind firing in at all (In fact it gives me an advantage of finding, maneuvering and killing you when you do it.). But I would rather have many other things before having blind fire. Also I anticipated Corner Shot coming up in this discussion and my reply is simply that showing a new system of aiming a gun doesn't help your case for wanting to shoot it blind. Also, even if you did have blind fire, keep in mind that the only way it should be implemented is that you cannot see what you are shooting at in any respect including 3rd person.

    If it's been ticketed, documented and reproduceable chances are it probably can and will be fixed. As far as why they made changes, they just did. I am a designer and artist in the industry and even I find out about code changes after the fact. A lot of the time it's usually a thing that I don't need to know about because it's an optimization that happens to work better than the previous one. Sometimes it doesn't. But it helps to say it, not spray it :)

    Ghillie, your likelyhood of failure is pretty extreme. In 2007 the US Military carried out dust tests between the M4, XM8, SCAR-L and HK416. The M4 was the weakest performer out of the 4 and it's likelyhood of failure was <2% in conditions created with the express purpose of making the weapons fail. http://www.army.mil/article/6649/

    There is a discrepancy I have noticed that under some night time conditions dynamic lights appear dimmer than others. I was mucking about in the editor and I found that in my instance that at 2100 dynamic lights where barely useful and then fast forward to 0000 those same lights were superbright.

    Making stuff up is not a good social habit friend. Just saying. Also, don't mess with extraocular muscles. There are medical conditions for nonstandard binocular vision and none of them are "attractive".

    I use STHUD too :) My initial paintovers with top center work fine, will post them over the weekend. Keeping the element small and simple is the key. The hard part is making sure that it can be understood at a glance. I was going to post findings yesterday but I had an epiphany that the top icon should encompass swimming modes too.

    Feeling pretty happy with the movement speeds here. I wager that the difference between run and sprint is more subtle if you play from 3rd person. As someone who plays exclusively in 1st person I just want to say that the current speeds feel good to me personally.

    You're telling me stuff I already know. :) Also, you can't concentrate on two different levels of magnification at once. Your brain just can't make sense of it. You can focus on one or the other but not both. Your brain however CAN superposition two images (Binden aiming concept), just not focus on them. The point is regardless of whether the effect is the same or not the potential to simulate more is there.

    Thinking about what you can simulate with bifocul vision with the Rift in ArmA is a hell of a kicker. Night vision monocular over one eye, looking down a scopes, switching sights from one eye to the other with the new shoulder transition... GPU asplode of course but the stuff that this makes possible is undeniably madtastic.

To follow on from Woldstriked's recommendations on disabling axis, if you are going to do that I suggest you disable the axis you don't want by removing them from the ArmA 3 options instead of in the TrackIR profile. The reason being because even if you didn't want to use TrackIR to lean in infantry you will probably want the full 6DOF in aircraft to lean and look around the struts of the cockpit.

    Now that one I like, the icon design I was working on is 90% similar to that. The main thing I would change is to make it smaller and put it in the top center of the screen. :)

    WIP Turmoil for the win! :D Nice to hear (and see) that rotary is getting some definitive attention. Even if the hilarious AH-9 minigun animations are still there. Cracks me up every time xD
