Hi, everyone. I just launched Arma 3 for the first time in a very long time and was pleasantly surprised to find this very cool new launcher that allows us to set memory (can go as high as 32768 now so no longer hard-limited to 2028 apparently), cores, Vram size, etc. What would be the best settings in my case: I have 16GB of G-Skill gaming ram, an M5A99FX PRO with an FX-8350 8 Core CPU (yes, I know AMD is terrible but it's too late), an MSI GTX 970 Gaming and a very fast internet connection. Also, how is the new TCMalloc_bi.dll file (dated Sept 29th) compare to the tbbmalloc.dll one? Do I need to delete one or do I use both? Thanks. :) P.S. If I don't hear back in a reasonable time (2 to 3 days) I'll just post this on Steam and maybe add helpful responses to this post in case others have the same question here.

@A3MP - ArmA 3 Map Pack
SomeGuyWithARock replied to alduric's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hey, I'm curious. Does installing these maps speed up map loading when joining a server? (Particularly interested in KOTH) Thanks. -
http://feedback.arma3.com/login_page.php Also, there's a message that all passwords have been reset and one has to create a new one. How do I unsubscribe from an issue (can't see the option anywhere)? I get way too many emails from the feedback tracker for stuff I no longer have an issue with. Thanks.

Hacked by a player with no ID

That totally makes sense. I'd hate to be the one sorting through all the feedback, especially regarding the stable, more public branch. -

You pay for the full game and have access to the Alpha version as a privilege (which IMO should have been limited to a select few participants instead of the general public). An Alpha is by definition an unfinished product. Calling it half-baked betrays your total lack of understanding of what an Alpha is for. It's so frustrating to see how ignorant people are and how much they exaggerate. Every popular MP game has had hackers (or rather cheaters who download hacks)--without exception. The ONLY way they are combated consistently is with active server admins. Anti-cheat programs only go so far, though they help. Regarding the current attack, some server admins have found a way to combat the current attack in the stable version for the time being. -
When a vote is Called for how do players vote yay or nay?
SomeGuyWithARock posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
I understand how to start a vote I.e> #kick playername etc, but how do players then respond with their votes? Do they do so by typing the same thing, #kick playername? The reason I'm asking is because we (me and my fellow players) saw players intentionally tking (upwards of -50 points) on the TDM servers, plus we encountered an obnoxious potty-mouthed troll who would not shut up for a moment for multiple rounds. I asked the admin later on and he didn't know how it was done either. Thanks for your help. -

Thank you for improving my understanding. Hopefully, the thresholds on these servers isn't terribly high as it seems no one else on the servers knew how to respond to my vote kick. At least now I can let them know what to type. BTW, do you have to use the command channel or will any channel do for the vote kick? Thanks. -

SomeGuyWithARock replied to SomeGuyWithARock's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
Thanks, but I've read that but, apparently, it only mentions starting a vote, not how other players are able to respond to the vote just called (at least it doesn't seem to make a distinction). Do they also just have to type the same command used to initiate the vote? Thanks for getting back to me. -

Wrecket Reddit TDM Whiskey and smoke is running hack free with no password. Be nice if the admin could teach the less informed how he did it. I'm sure he's not the only one to figure out how to block the hack in the "stable" version. -

Here you go (hopefully still working): -

Doesn't the "virus" reside in memory and disappears when you restart the game and the servers are restarted? I think he is still actively injecting it onto servers, otherwise, in its current form, the hack would disappear after everyone restarted. Or is that not working anymore? -

Well said, Hammerballz. Red29 is just being immature in that he calls some of us whiners and morons. And since the hacker implied that he wouldn't stop until the issue was discussed just shows how insincere he is. We've discussed it, Bohemia has responded and is working on a fix, he still hasn't stopped. He's just showing off his hacking talent and isn't trying to improve the game. He doesn't care about the community. -

For those of you wanting players on your newly passworded server, it seems a lot more practical to have them pm you for the password here. Not everyone wants to bother with Skype (I love it, but not when my enemies are all on the same channel as my teammates LOL). -

Okay, thanks. What a pain. Some hacker used the same sort of reasoning in BF3 stating he was trying to drive a point home to DICE. Real strong logic there. -

Question: If it's infecting the client side how is it that I and almost 50 other people were later able to play on the goonies server for hours non-stop last night? I think the hacker was manually doing this and when he had other things to do he left us alone for the rest of the night, but I know nothing about how these attacks work. -
That's good info, sproyd! I struggled to even like Arma for over a year (uninstalled it many times!), but Arma 3 sucked me back in. I love it now. To the OP I've played on high ping servers and gotten less lag on those than some very close to home. Not sure what causes lag in some and not others, but ping doesn't mean a whole lot so far.

West Coast server needs-a-fillin! Please Help!
SomeGuyWithARock replied to NukeDukem88's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
I keep trying to join it and it tells me my version is bad. My Arma 3 is up to date and I disabled all addons yet I keep getting rejected. I see over 30 people on it right now so scratching my head. -
I tried to submit it via the Feedback Tracker, but it is currently read-only apparently. I searched this forum but the results came up empty, but I apologize if this has already been brought up. I always use the right side of the keyboard so wanted to use the right ctrl instead of the left when appropriate. Some actions incorporate the ctrl key combined with a mouse button (already default), but if I try to bind either left ctrl+ or right ctrl+ with a mouse button on my own the game binds them separately instead. I even experimented and tried rebinding the original left ctrl+prm. mouse Btn. combo for "command Fire" after deleting the setting first but it would not accept the combo of the 2 keys. As a workaround I was going to try and do it manually via cfg but I cannot find any text-editable file that contains the keybindings. Anyway, either this is a Windows issue or there appears to be a glitch (or call it a bug) preventing the 2 button presses simultaneously. Can this be fixed or is it just a Windows issue? Thanks.

Unable to bind Ctrl+ any mouse button
SomeGuyWithARock replied to SomeGuyWithARock's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well, it's not looking good (but not game breaking at all), but I've gotten used to it now. After 10+ years of playing on the right side of the keyboard exclusively (even remapped Arma 2 accordingly a year ago to my liking) I've decided to convert to WASD (even though those keys are a little crowded for my liking), though NOT to default controls, as probably no one does for a game this complex. It's been an adjustment to say the least, especially since I've decided to do this with my other games and it feels quite weird! LOL My question is, and Google has been no help (not the search engine it used to be), what file contains the keybindings and can it be edited by regular Joe like me? -
Unable to bind Ctrl+ any mouse button
SomeGuyWithARock replied to SomeGuyWithARock's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I tested this on Arma 2 (which I heard was a different game engine) and ran into the same problem, so I'm thinking it's a Windows limitation. I can't think of any other game to test this with because Arma seems unique in letting players bind a broad range of multikey presses for actions, which I applaud. Know any other games that I could test this on?
