    NIArms Release Thread

As cool as that would be, I don't think that's possible to do effectively, because the belt links have no physics so having more than just a few rounds would clip through the character model.

There's actually a new-ish variant called the Steyr HS .50 M1 that can use a side-loaded 5 round magazine (among other changes.) Performance wise the thing is still quite inferior to something like the M98, but then again some of the most fun guns aren't necessarily the most useful (I'm hella excited for the H&H Elephant Gun, but unless they're adding Siamese Elephants to Tanoa it's a bit excessive.) Doing some research into this thing and it's actually quite cool (the proprietary .460 Steyr round developed for it is very interesting, to say the least.) Certainly going on my personal list of Patreon requests for when I finally donate.

There are already quite a few similar anti-materiel rifles on the list; the McMillan TAC-50, Barrett M98 Bravo, and PGM Hecate II. Those also have the advantage of being more ubiquitous than the HS. 50. But, of course, you could always just become a Patron and put it on the list yourself, or commission it if you really want it badly.

Okay, so just to clarify, say there was an ArmA 3 update that broke the gun, it would still be updated to get fixed. Correct?

    NIArms Release Thread

Why would it be removed from the pack? I think the "not supported on the long term" line meant "creating more variants than just the very specific one that was commissioned", not "it won't be updated in the future to keep in line with ArmA 3 updates."
  6. It's the picturesque no-nonsense handgun; single-stack, .45 ACP, and very reliable (there's a reason M1911s produced in 1944 were still being used in the Gulf War.) Can't think of a more stubborn pistol than that. Except maybe Patton's SAA .45, but details, right? Excited to see how it'll be portrayed in this mod.
  7. This thing has been used since WW1, too. Talk about an effective design, it's beat only by the Colt M1911 in service life.
  8. Sorry 'bout that. I was, rather irresponsibly, set off by what he'd said.

    Jurassic Arma - Raptor Pack

They still function (mostly) as they had previously, though they're very glitchy as always. Also, the game props up a lot of errors whilst using them, but ultimately it's not too problematic.
  10. Don't forget the MINIGUN And that's not to mention all of the additions to the current packs he has planned; Rk.62 and Arsenal SLR107U for the AK pack (and variants of the pre-existing AKs with RIS optic support.) PSG-1A1 and a wide handguard G3A3 for the G3 pack. A full length FN FAL 50.00 and possibly 50.61 Para for the FAL pack. A G36 variant with the 100 round CMAG (most likely the MG36) for the G36 pack. Probably 'retro/standard' AR-15s like the M16A2 in the AR pack (his most recent video status update teased them, as well as a few screenshots with the rifles listed. Not 100% sure though.) Probably the M1903A3 and A4 Springfield (he did say they were planned for later, but obviously his need to get the pack out relatively quickly put them on hold.) So hell, in this first quarter alone we've already got a good amount of content coming or planned.

    War Chronicles WW2 Modification

Are there plans for some of the more obscure (but still used) WW2 weapons, like the M50 Reising, M1941 Johnson, FP-45, M30 Luftwaffe, etc? It'd be pretty cool to try those out in A3.

    BHI Mods Discussion thread

I think it's a pretty safe assumption that ArmA 3 mods (or ones for BIS games in general) based on other IPs aren't going to happen - not just from BHI but in general. OPTRE is an exception because they know explicitly that what they're doing is okay with Microsoft, but pretty much every mod based on another IP has been shot down because of legal concerns (or actual legal trouble.) There was an actual Terminator mod being developed for ArmA awhile back during the Make Arma Not War contest but it was taken out of the contest and eventually shut down completely for legal reasons. No reason why WB would be okay with another one being made.
  13. I really wish it would be cleaned up, though. There's a lot of duplicate entries on there and many weapons that when voted up would be part of one pack (like the HK416A5 and HK416D10RS rifles that are listed separately but will almost certainly be made together as part of a big HK416 pack, or the several Sten listings, which again applies.) I understand why it's difficult to do a complete redesign because it would screw up the voting system but still, a clean and refined list for 2016 that preserves the order would be nice. Something like this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1olqN7-nVM3IoKwFDKVhmBnAHQWWkeWRkH6CzDXaUUf0/edit?usp=sharing It preserves the order from before but combines repetitive entries for guns that would probably be created together (such as the Mosin Nagant 91/30 and its carbine variants) and deletes obsolete listings (like the AWM & M1903 Springfield already finished) or repetitive ones (like the KAC SR-47 listed twice.) I also fixed a bunch of the spelling errors that might cause confusion.
  14. I dunno man, you forgot about the SIG 510s also (presumably) to be released soon - if you want the job you have to do it right :P
  15. The M27 IAR is my personal favorite rifle. Hopefully toadie does one when the 416s inevitably hit the top of the list.
  16. Modernized AKM/AK74 rifles are on the list... but at the very bottom. The pack already has an AK-12 in various configs that are super modular so those could suit your purposes.
  17. Unless someone commissions it or toadie decides to do it on his own for some reason, you'll have to wait until people vote it up. I can't really give you a fair estimate of how long it might take because things get voted up and down all the time. However, yeah, I'd say don't hold your breath - he's still working to push out the G36s, SIG 510s, and Springfield, and has the ACRs to work on, so even if it were voted up immediately you probably wouldn't see it until next year. RHS: Escalation has a good AKMS that you can check out while you wait, though.
  18. The AKMS is on the list of weapons but pretty far down.
  19. I highly doubt Mossbergs have ever been used notably in the FBI - to say that it's never happened is probably false, but they aren't listed equipment for any branch of the bureau (and they wouldn't need it anyway because the 870 covers everything they could want from a shotgun.) A rundown of what the FBI uses: Your standard sidearm is going to be either the .40 Glock 22 or Glock 23. The Glock 21SF and Springfield TRP Operator are also available to FBI SWAT teams. Both the 9x19 Glock 26 and .40 Glock 27 are the authorized "backup and concealed carry" sidearms, for off duty use. The 9x19 Glock 17 and Glock 19 are used by a few agents when they don't qualify with the .40 round, and they're sometimes used for off-duty open carry, but they aren't commonplace. The only authorized shotgun (AFAIK) in the entire bureau is the Remington 870 - while it's not impossible that others (including the Mossberg 500) have been used before, the M870 is available in enough different configurations that they really only need it. The MP5 series makes up their SMG complement; the MP5/10 in specific is commonplace, but you will have examples of the A2/A3/A4/A5, SD5/SD6, and even MP5K being used. AR-15 type rifles and derivatives are the majority of rifles they use - the M4 Carbine is the most widely seen, while the HK416 is used by HRT. Compact carbines like the Colt M933 with a 11.5' barrel are also used. Sniper rifles are pretty much dominated by the Remington 700 series - apparently the FBI also have a stock of PSG-1s that they use as well. AR-15 type rifles with high powered optics can also be used for longer ranged protection. The FBI isn't really a great example of weapon diversity like some other government agencies (or the military.) Their stuff is pretty uniform and standard, and it works well enough for them. I say variety is the spice of life and equip these units with whatever you want, because it's your mod and I don't think most people are going to complain about more content, but if you're going for realism then stuff like the M500 is best not included.
  20. Yep, 8 of the next 20 guns currently on the list are from the Interwar/WW2 period, and that's not including the Bren Mk1 in the sideburner. Obviously nothing is guaranteed until it gets finished and released but I think we've got plenty of classic guns on their way.
  21. https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/161119-toadies-smallarms-wip-thread/ As far as I'm aware most of the weapons in that pack were discontinued because they were models originally made for other games/mods. All of Toadie's new work is being done from scratch, which is honestly for the better. Some of those models made it into his various already released packs, though.
  22. I wouldn't care, more weapons is more weapons. I didn't particularly care too much for the SIG 510s before I actually learned about them, but that doesn't mean I'm not happy Toadie made them. Regardless, my opinion is completely worthless so who cares?
  23. I can't say I'd be bothered waiting longer for G36s, but obviously it's a tough decision to make. The community's right not to say what you should do, because it's not for anyone to say, but if I were you I would go for it. (Unless you had serious concerns that you couldn't put a quality product out in that timespan without burning yourself out.) The G36s can always wait, and considering you're getting a good offer to do a weapon you already planned to do, just later, it's probably smart to take it. Plus, everyone here gets to use the M1903 anyway, so it isn't as if this is time being wasted (in fact, it really amounts to more for everyone in the end.) Just my 2 cents.
  24. That KAC-fitted G36C is one of the oddest, but coolest takes on the platform I've ever seen. Wow.
