Hell in the Pacific - a full conversion WW2 mod [Reboot]
dr@gon replied to daoarge's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I got the impression that Apex was going to be end of June.(it would be great if it is the end of this month though). I know that's not your point but perhaps HiP folks are also making that assumption and therefore they have another 5 weeks to get their Alpha release ready.- 205 replies

The Unsung Vietnam Mod 3.0 WIP THREAD
dr@gon replied to sgt_savage's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
There is no update for the mod as yet. The new version, going from Alpha to Beta (Bravo) will be out very, very soon from the sound of things. As far as tan uniforms, they have a lot of content they want to bring into the game for the next release after Bravo in Charlie and beyond so I wouldn't hold my breathe, they don't generally take requests that veer too far from the project plan. To see the project plan flip back a few pages or so. No harm in asking I guess. -
Hell in the Pacific - a full conversion WW2 mod [Reboot]
dr@gon replied to daoarge's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
daoarge, Thank you for your reply. I understand completely; the HiP mod was top quality so moving to A3 you wants the standards of the mod both visually and technically to be of the same or better quality. "Porting" the A2 islands may prove to be a lot of work only to end up with a set of A2 islands in A3 where the time and effort porting the islands could have been spent improving the mod and perhaps create new A3 generation islands instead. Crawling on the beach of the war torn islands while the Japanese army fire machine guns over your head has a lot of atmosphere and adrenaline, it is completely unique from other Arma experiences and mods out. I look forward to the HiP Alpha and future releases.- 205 replies

Hi, Do you think that along with the files that will be part of the Alpha release that, that would be enough to run some of the previously released A2 islands such as Kohima? As Unsupported of course. Simply looking at the islands in Eden was enough to get me very excited about HIP again but without certain files some objects were missing. I'm sure you probably hate questions like that, sorry, I just thought I'd ask.- 205 replies

TPW MODS: enhanced realism and immersion for Arma 3 SP.
dr@gon replied to tpw's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
sinny, on 10 Mar 2016 - 14:43, said: I am also getting this error. I am also in Dev Branch. The error started to show up for me after the Eden update. In addition to the memory error, the walking animation is getting "stuck" when the AI is on uneven ground (which means all the time). In a crouch position it is okay but standing or running the AI tends to stutter or freeze. The problem goes away when I remove the TPW Mod. I have been using your mod since you first released it, I find it difficult to play without it but unfortunately I am getting these errors. I have tried using just the basic Arma, CBA and TPW alone, I don't get the memory error when I do that but I still get the weird walking animation problem.- 5767 replies

The Unsung Vietnam Mod 3.0 WIP THREAD
dr@gon replied to sgt_savage's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
The only problem is the new 3D editor in Eden changed the mission.sqm so it isn't straight text anymore and no longer editable like it used to be. Unless you know something I don't....which is entirely possible. :). -

As I recall the M113 steered like crap in water anyway. Basically move straight and minimize the time in the water. -

Wow the video looks excellent. The amount of new content is staggering as mentioned in the project plan notes. This will quickly become one of the most downloaded mods for Arma 3 once it is released. -

According to eggbeast's posts just a few posts up on this page; in the Bravo release "Doung - 70%" completed. That was yesterday and the release is scheduled for next week or shortly there after so I'm guessing not much more will be added before then. -

I am really looking forward to the Bravo release. The list has a considerable amount of content, more than most mods ever have and that is only some of the plans for the mod. Historically Unsung for A2 was high quality so I know the community will see a great release. -

Jeez chas, don't you have Google on your computer? American fire arms; M1 garand, M2 carbine, M14 battle rifle, M16 assault rifle, M60 machine gun, M79 grenade launcher, does L1A1 look like an American designation? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L1A1_Self-Loading_Rifle -

hmmm. Arma3 is a futuristic game. The base game takes place in the future. It actually doesn`t exist in the real world. Some of the concepts of modern body armour have only become practical in recent years, basically since around 2000 used in Iraq and Afghanistan. During the Vietnam War era, there was no real effective body armour, the marine flak vest were still very much experimental and were actually eventually dropped by the marines after the war. They were heavy, they were hot and most of all they were ineffective. Helmets were more to protect your head from falling debris and the environment in general, they had their purpose but it wasn`t to stop bullets or shrapnel which is why many of the soldiers, especially the special forces, Took them Off. Todays ballistic helmets and vests are much better and that is what is reflected in Arma 3. I personally would be very disappointed if the Unsung mod team added any significant armour protection to the mod for helmets and vests because then it turns into a run and shoot arcade game to me. just my 2 cents. -
Okay, so like what HerosandVillansOS said; these files are nothing new they are the same patch listed on page 1 from 2 years ago. Perhaps the link was broken and it was reposted, I don't know. Too bad I was hoping that the mod was back with new updates but I guess not.

This is indeed very curious. Is this in fact a new update? I'm downloading the patch but I am surprised that there is a patch after all this time and that Ohally himself made no entry about its release in this forum. If it is a 3rd party fix, like the sound patch, great but I'd like to know that. Not all 3rd party patches work that well on other peoples mods. The sound patch was given permission by Ohally to post it as part of the original mod and the 1st host was updated to reflect that. Further adding to my confusion; is it mod 1.5.3 or is it mod 1.5 hotfix 2.7?

Hi, originally Doung Island was going to be after Bravo release ( Charlie ?) is that still the plan or will Doung Island be included in Bravo? The work on Bravo is really coming along, thanks for the updates, I am looking forward to its release. -

An Easter release for Bravo would be great. Thanks to the Unsung Team for all the work and making the end of March a definite possibility for the release. I was thinking just yesterday, I wish the NVA would speak Vietnamese, so Columdrum's efforts will be appreciated to add atmosphere. I look forward to seeing the Dac Cong making an appearance again. I don't know what release that is planned for, I can wait for whenever it happens, there will be a lot to keep me busy with Bravo next month. -

Excellent news. That is a lot of work in such a short time. I am very much looking forward to seeing and playing with the new content. I understand from previous posts that the unit classnames will be changing in the Bravo release, was the team planning on releasing the classnames in a document with Bravo? It is easy to get classnames out of game in A3 so no big deal if that isn't in the release notes, just wondering. Second question, are there any specific plans to include Unsung specific modules as part of the mod at some point? I personally used modules very sparingly in A2 because honestly I didn't understand how most of them worked but I find myself using them much more in A3 so again, just wondering. It isn't something most mod makers talk about when discussing mod content. -

The AI will enter a rice paddy but only after looking for a direct route (not over the dike walls) or a path. So if you are in a rice paddy and you order your men (AI) up they will get there eventually but first they will skirt around it first. A large paddy field oddly works best because it seems the AI will only go so far to search for the easiest route. A small field is more of a problem from a tactical point of view because sometimes the AI will circle the entire paddy before entering it. This usually means they get shot in the process.
