New British WW2 Units, Unsure About Permissions
JdB replied to BobMalarkey's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
He was last here in June 2014. He's not around all the time but if you PM him he should read the e-mail notification. http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?27544-Gavinthecat -
If the battery you put in it is correctly installed and not damaged it may indicate a malfunction somewhere on the motherboard (like a short circuit). I'm not familiar with it since we get replace the entire board instead of replacing the BIOS chip, but it may well cost more to replace a single chip compared to replacing the board, especially if it's still within warranty. Since your board was released in mid 2006 it may well not be worth replacing the chip and will likely not be under warranty any more. At that point you'll just have to buy a new system since your other components are bound to be outdated as well and getting the board repaired means throwing money at an outdated system when that same money would be better spent as part of an investment for the years to come. It all depends on the other components like the processor and RAM, but since it's an old chipset I can't imagine they're anything like recent either.

Wrong on all counts. From the forum rules: As eggbeast said spending loads of time on a map that you can only share with a few people is a waste of time.
-
Though you say that "It's been done all the time" all the examples you posted are of forward porting, not backporting. Just to clear everything up I've contacted BIS to give us an answer.
-
Not sure what to make of this since no files were ever released by BIS for CWA. The first model packs were released for ArmA1. Of course using the game data and a simple unpacker/unlocker of which there are several you can get at most CWA data, but I doubt they would want to open that door (since it might be seen as encouraging reverse engineering on other more recent products). The files in the original demo can be opened without unlocking them, would that count as publicly available since technically they are in an archive (pbo)?
-
The "ArmA" refered to is the game otherwise known as "ArmA1". This was before OFP was renamed to ArmA:CWA and before ArmA2 was released. The most complete set of MLODs was released for that game so most of the documentation will refer to that game since a lot of derivatives exist from that content. BIS has made it clear that content may only be forward-ported (so to newer games in the series), and not back-ported (to earlier releases). ArmA1 -> ArmA2 - yes ArmA1 -> ArmA:CWA - no

That's why I don't see them having much success in China. These groups rely on political correctness and softheartedness to operate amongst their enemies without being hindered all that much. In China things like human rights, reasonable doubt and due process really don't mean a thing when the Party's authority is challenged in any way. In western society you keep expecting people to finally see things for what they really are and take off the gloves while in China there are no gloves to begin with. They've riden down their own etnic group with tanks, some violent semi-foreigners from the western provinces are merely a number to the Party. But as always China won't do anything about IS unless it operates on it's own territory. Let others pay the bills and have your own economy blossom has been their approach since Korea.

Can't expect to send chaps into battle without a steady supply of nicely heated cups of tea. It's a bare necessity like fuel and ammo!

The most this has done (I've seen it used before in OFP a few years ago) is add some postprocessing effects. You might be able to make something really radical that adds a completely new feature to the game, but it would require a lot of time and above all knowledge. Think DXDLL but even more/better.

Pretty much Quake 3 Online, that brings back memories ... pre-OFP memories mainly :p

Just going to leave this here: Are you still sure you are the author of this piece of copyright-protected Intellectual Property?
-
Meanwhile those they leave behind are called "traitors", "liars" and "provocateurs" by puppets of the Kremlin for worrying about their loved ones. I wonder how much more denial of the Russian armed forces' sacrifices it would take for some in the officer cadre to turn on Putin.
-
That's around the time he dissappeared for a while with no activity anywhere that I could find. Maybe your messages got lost in the heap of unread messages or something and it would be worthwhile to give it another try.

Content Licensing - Questions and Answers
JdB replied to Maio's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
"Redistributing" is to make the entire unaltered package available on other websites and download mirrors free of charge without denying the ownership right of the Intellectual Property by the original author(s) contained within the package regardless of the form (compressed archives like zip, rar, 7zip or a fileformat like pbo, wav, sqs etc). The key parts here being "unaltered" and "free of charge". As long as the package remains as the author intended it to without money being charged for it's availability it cannot be restricted from being redistributed if the product is freeware like most addons, mods and missions are. This of course does not apply to commercial addons for which free distribution amounts to piracy. For example community sites can host content as much as they want unless the author objects with a legal reason, like when content is stolen and someone else releases it and pretend that they made it. -
It would be easiest if you had access to the FTP so you could copy entire directories instead of individual files. Try asking Jerry Hopper if he's interested. He's not around much here so try one of his other social profiles (I see you have plenty). http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?5238-jerryhopper

A while ago someone wondered how large the files on the file server of OFPr.info were. I've added it all up and excluding hosted sites it's 66.38GB worth of addon awesomeness

WW4 Extended - Unofficial expansion for WW4 2.5
JdB replied to kenoxite's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hmm, I was surprised to notice that we weren't mirroring the original 0.9 files yet so that's been corrected: Mirrors by OFPr.info WW4_EXT_full_v09.zip WW4_EXT_v09_Patch6.zip -

would you still buy any BI product ?
JdB replied to sgtsev3n's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
I am missing an option: "Yes, but only games that interest me" As I only buy games I like, not just because they were made by BIS. For example none of the other games BIS makes interest me so I haven't bought any of them. -
That changes it for everything though, single player and multiplayer, which will end up when joining a server with anything ranging from an "edited config" notice to being banned from the server.

@ Vilas: Katipo66 meant global protests, not in Russia. There were protests against the US invasion of Iraq all over the world. Now we know that all the US needed to do to prevent all of those protests was to send in their troops but tell them to remove the US flags from their uniforms first. I wonder if the deaths of Russian conscripts are being felt by the Russian population at all. With the way the seperatists have been losing ground in the last few months the casualty lists must be horrific. People must be wondering why they've never heard from their son, husband etc since. You can hide thousands of deaths from everyone except the people that know them best. Do they know what's going on? Do they support the use of witless conscripts in a situation where their sacrifices are being denied and the Geneva Convention is void (fighting for a non-state actor operating without distinquishable national markings). Are they really that gullible? It never ceases to amaze me how easily fooled Russians seem to be. Like Girkin saying that the passengers on MH-17 had been dead for a long time already and were strapped into their seats to serve as a false flag when loads of relatives and friends had waved at them when they left not 5 hours earlier. The whole world laughed at the statement, to Russians it made perfect sense. They're trapped in their own paranoia. And before Russians accuse the West of paranoia: Before Crimea we didn't even look East, never mind care about whatever happened in that backwater. That's how serious people here rate the threat (or in Russians' mind: prestige) of Russia. I'd much rather see us focus on Islamic terrorism as that posses a real threat to us rather than Russia that huffs, puffs and postures in order to draw some attention to itself. Another funny thing is that I often notice that the strongest online advocates of Russia are Russians living in any place other than Russia enjoying better education, employment and living standards than back home but hating on everything. Nationalism must be that deeply instilled in the average Russian.

WW2 Desert pack - North Afrika 1941-1943

That's not a Ferret MKII, but a Humber MKII. The Ferret was the post-war replacement of the Daimler Dingo. -
Is the Navy missing the boat on the stealthy Ghost warship?
JdB replied to eddo36's topic in OFFTOPIC
That was in a friendly port where you don't arm your weapons systems and have the crew at battle stations, especially not prior to 9/11. -
Cursing is allowed (as in not censored and allowed as long as it is not meant in an offensive way towards others) as posters are assumed to behave in a mature respectful manner. Good Not good
