  1. Hopefully this is noticed. Attempting to implement this system for our ALiVE mission and server, few issues. I get a "Captive Check Failed, Unit Side is Incorrect" in the sqf to choose the side I have it as "independent" and that is the unit placed. I also get a error in game mentioning the gearHandler.sqf and it says "Error Undefined variable in expression: _return" Any thoughts?
  2. And just like that. I am taking Tom Clancy's "Red Storm Rising" off the shelf, re-reading it for the who knows how many time and thinking up a Campaign base off Red Storm Rising. Amazing DLC. The map is overwhelming. It took forever to fly around it with a little Cessna just checking out the terrain and features. The Wall is amazingly well done. The level of detail is fantastic and the SP Campaign missions are a blast.

Arma 3 - Creator DLC Discussion

This^^^ is a great response. I was a Alpha tester for Planetside 2, bought the $40 Beta package for a game that was to be free to play. Then pitched in membership. All of that money spent and I still have a LOT less content of weapons, skins and boosts compared to what this DLC will offer.

Arma 3 - Creator DLC Discussion

I would also but it sounds like BI hasn't set up a way for that to happen or can't find a way like they did with Apex. It's above my pay grade in knowledge so I don't know how they did it with Apex and cannot with this particular DLC. I get the frustration. I'm just looking at it from the entire community, not just the MP servers that will have to figure out what they will do. Frankly the current state of the MP servers you see and are active are why I bought my own for my group. We couldn't find one that wasn't extremely mod heavy with tons of downloads to do or updates to keep track of, third party tools for downloading, or have mods we don't like at all, or have toxic player base (cough, armalife, cough) so we went our own direction. Again, I get the frustration that this isn't like Apex for a download you can see, but can't use.

Arma 3 - Creator DLC Discussion

I can understand some frustrations people are having when they play on certain servers or with friends but considering how many people outright don't even go on MP games, and how many copies of Arma 3 have been sold. There will be a demand for this. I guess I would tell people to talk with their groups, discuss adding it or not but I can't see how this is going to hurt the Arma franchise. Personally I'll buy it, and have it on my server, but on just certain off nights.
  6. Without a doubt a purchase I will make on release day. Glad to see community DLC being introduced now. Thanks Devs, from BI and the GM

    AF Large Civilian Ship

Impressive, look forward to implementing this onto our server for some missions!
  8. $20 a month for a 40 slot from HostHavoc. My first go at hosting a server for anything. It was pretty easy to get setup and started. Few hours and some searching here and some youtube videos and now we are running smooth.
  9. Thanks for the quick reply. I want to let you know, I am a patreon supporter already (my name on there is Bj). Wanted to message you through there but then wanted to get a hold of you here so others can see there is interest in your mod. Also thanks for the answers. I want to add, you have another fan coming. My brother bought ArmA III plus Apex module just so we can do some FfF missions together. If you'd like to PM me there is talk of us doing a dedicated server and if you have a discord channel I'd love to check in there. Thanks, keep up the good work.
  10. Some questions I hope you can help with. Not sure if they are a ArmA issue or vehicle issue from the Mod. 1. For the HISS tank, is there a script command I need to input for it to use it's main gun in self defense or offense. Tried a few editor made missions and it never returns fire even after making sure it is OPFOR. 2. Placing vehicles, many times placing Cobra vehicles the pilot disappears after placement. So I'll need to manually place a troop next to it and script it is in driver seat. 3. Awe Striker main weapon isn't finished yet, I am correct? 4. The Mauler seems.....small. These are in no way ground breaking issues for me. Just odds and ends I haven't figured out. The mod has sucked me back into ArmA again, and I'm back to mission making and some light scripting that I did when OFP was first released and then into ArmA and ArmA 2. Once I can get some of my groove back I'd hope to have a dedicated server running with this Mod at times for a group of us that are playing together. Thanks! Hope all is well.
  11. Fantastic work, keep it up! I am really enjoying getting some Joe vs Cobra action!
  12. Just wanted to drop a note here that I want to see this mod happen. It looks fantastic, what do you need for help on it? I love GI Joe. Grew up on it.
  13. The entire campaign felt like the 80's GI Joe cartoon. At least story wise. A Top secret combat team not affiliated with Nato or really named who they truly worked for. "The Viper" wanting to take out the Spec Ops team. A secret weapon that could cause earthquakes sounded just like the Weather Dominator or one of Destro's secret world domination weapons he made. I was really fine with that also. Because I love GI Joe.

Arma 3 - APEX - NEWS and SPECULATIONS

I figure this will get lost in the huge thread but I wanted to say it regardless. BI, you outdid yourselves with this one. As someone who downloaded the demo for OFP way back in 2001 and have followed and played every title you have produced I can give a honest and experienced opinion. The campaign, style, play ability and design is fantastic. I truly enjoyed the campaign and thought the story telling was excellent. The weapons and vehicles additions, along with Tanoa are gorgeous. I have fallen right back in love with ArmA again. I drift away when other games come out but I always come back to the trusted friend that never lets me down. Thanks Devs and everyone at Bohemia, great job.
  15. My questions to anyone wondering "why snipers" is to first ask if they are actually using a Rifle designed for long range shooting. Some people see optics on top of any rifle and assume "sniper" when in fact the person is just trying to have options. I'll roll optics all the time in the game for lots of reasons. The APCO(sic?) has the green dot on top and a nice optic. It clears up the battlefield. With graphics being a factor the optics will help a person to clarify their target at 200+ meters. Then when you are in a CQB type situation you can use the green dot on top of the optics, or if the server allows go third person. As for silencers, considering how well the AI can zoom in on the one shot you laid out, I'd like to have them. The same for PvP. I want the silenced weapon with optics to give me every possible use out of the rifle I am using. just my .02

OFP on 20th anniversary for shooting games

I've downloaded and installed Arma Cold War Assualt on my kids computers, I have OFP on mine. I am starting them out with some old school Co-Op on Nogova near Petrovice. I love it. They are complaining like crazy. "This is hard....I get shot once and die, that guy shot me from that far away? BF3 I can get shot like four times and not die. Why can't I take a tank out with one shot from a RPG? Oh my god, the last time we played this mission they didn't go that way....what the heck?" My oldest gets some time with Arma and Arma2...little bit of MP time. He is 10 and I am pounding it in his head that he needs to be a team player and not a TK'er. He has left his PS3 alone for a long time now. He isn't really interested in playing Black Ops or BF3 lately. Go BIS. A second generation is playing your games now.

Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!

Wow. Really jacked to see a Alpha coming so soon. Can't believe I've been playing one series of games for over 10 years and never finding a better one to play. Keep it up BI!
  18. I've had a lot of fun with this map. Reliving those first missions way back in 2001. Thanks for doing this and doing such a top notch job on it. Love it.
  19. Bought, downloaded, loaded up and went through the first mission. Love it so far. Plays great, nice frame rates. Hate to hear others disappointed. I've loving it. So instead of buying a 12 pack of Leinenkugel's I bought this and don't have a headache in the morning! Money well spent, IMO.

    [CAMP/OA] Operation Mighty Justice

Finally had the chance to download and play this Campaign. Truly a great one. I am very happy to have found it. Well done. I found some bugs or spelling errors, have some suggestions. But want to finish it first before playing it again and keeping track of things to reply about. I was so happy playing it that things that I saw or had happen I really didn't care about. I am overwhelmed in a small village right now in the Campaign. My troops also wounded and screaming for help. Insurgents from all four sides. The back up support IFV's stopped about a half click out and won't come any further and I am fighting for my life. Love it!
  21. Still playing.. You can see from my join date it is from the beginning. I still have each and every game still loaded on my PC's. My older PC I still keep alive because it has OFP and Arma running on it. I bought a new PC specifically for Arma 2. Never thought of leaving the games. It is THE only FPS style game I play. I've tried others but they fail in comparison to the realism BIS has given us. My first PC with OFP loaded on it is in storage. It is like the holy grail of games to me. Someday I'll fire it up again and see those first missions I played. I still have the OFP demo loaded on my very old work PC which is out of service, collecting dust but once in awhile I hit the power button and play it. I don't have time any longer to be apart of a clan/squad/group but I was for a few years when Arma was out. I miss it at times but life takes priority. Since OFP and my joining the forums I've bought a house, had two kids, own a business, watched my oldest son grow up and become old enough that he is now playing Arma on my old PC while I play Arma 2 on mine. He dabbles in the editor and makes his own little battles. He is 8...some may think he is young to be playing a game so realistic but considering what he can see on the news and his uncle has seen combat in Iraq this is a way to educate him on what war is. I've tried making maps....addons...scripts but am not very good at it. I download so much from the community that it would take pages to thank them for their efforts. I'd love to make a map of my area I live in but don't have the skills or time. I take breaks from gaming during the warm months and dive back in during the cold months. You can see I am not active in the forums. 172 posts as of today....But whenever I feel the need to get some good gaming in BIS games are the first choice. I do look forward to another 10 years of BIS games.
  22. I will chime in and say "thank you" for all your work. As you can see I have been following the OFP/ARMA/ARMA2 games from the very beginning, just not posting often. Always watching from the weeds. I am not a modder, heavy gamer, not PC literate when it comes to making addons or islands so things like this are appreciated. Sorry to see you end this project, amazing work. Hopefully you do realize there are many of us older, long time fans of the games that appreciate the work. Maybe us saying thanks more often will help motivate and continue. Again, thanks, and best wishes on your future endeavors.

Nice work on the Mod, and the video was very well done. Looking forward to your release.

    SP: LOST

I did talk with them all, I just didn't trust them. I really don't like approaching someone with a AK when I am unarmed. I scouted them for awhile, they took notice of me and didn't go aggresive so I decided to approach. Didn't like the mission. Seemed like offing the guy was a grudge and if they couldn't do it themselves i wasn't to worried about doing it for them. I also enjoyed moving around unarmed. Gave me a sense of caution. Good mission though. I'm sure to replay it again and try other things.

    SP: LOST

So I ran threw it, took a few hours, never keep track. Decent mission. Is it final or are you still tweaking? I'd rather not ruin it for anyone if your at final. If your tweaking it or still working on it I'd sure like to ask more questions and figure some things out. I liked the concept but it seemed like I went threw it real fast. I talked with everyone in Eponia(sic?) then headed south with a mindset of escape and evade after running into some SLA patrols. I managed to get to Parisio(sic?) airfield without even getting a weapon. And I didn't just go straight south. I went to Bagango and then east to Pita and threw the mountains to Corazol.
