    ACE3 Help (Already Experienced with ACE2)

    Nevermind, I figured it out myself.
  2. Let me provide a little background about myself. I have logged approximately 150 hours in Arma 2 CO since late last year. I had the opportunity to play all the classic A2 mods: ACE, ASR, Celle, I44, and many more. However, recently I had been testing A3 and realized how much more it offers, in terms of modularity, editing, and simulation (though ACE should really consider adding advanced artillery, which was a great feature in ACE2). Anyways, I would love to learn the new and improved ACE3, and I was hoping someone with experience could help me out. As I said, I already understand how ACE2 works, so ACE3 shouldn’t be too hard of a transition.

    Rifleman's Rule

    I have a question on the concept of Rifleman's Rule. Simply, it has to do with aiming lower when shooting uphill or downhill: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rifleman's_rule Would this apply to other projectiles like rockets and missiles? From what I understand, Arma has a decent ballistics system (obviously with ACE it is even better).

    looking for non-combat adventure missions

    Honestly, the only non-combat civilian missions I can think of revolve around things that could occur in normal everyday life. So, it would have to deal with personal or vehicle adventures. While I am not aware of any existing missions or mods, here is a list of ideas I've thought of that deal with each category (And shouldn’t be that hard to create): By Foot: -Lost: Place your character on a random part of the map and find your way back home (Need Map Tools) -Scuba Diving: Take a swim and look for buried treasure or item of interest -Where’s Waldo: Spawn 100 AI and try to find a specific person (i.e. White Shirt & Red Hat) -Skydiving: Open the parachute at the lowest possible altitude. By Vehicle: -Cargo Transport: As a truck driver (or helicopter pilot), it's your responsibility to deliver everything on time without any accidents -Emergency: Your friend took a fall and is severely wounded. Rush him to a hospital within a specified time (Need Time Limit and Car) -Air Rescue: Hikers are trapped on a remote location. Find them and bring them home -Plane/Helicopter: Enjoy the scenic route by flying at dawn or when the sun sets -Boat Ride: Ride the waves and dominate the sea -Tow Ride: Someone’s car broke down and they need some help -Motorcycle / Sports Car: Go 100MPH down a winding road (Best results on Mountainous/Wooded terrain) -Stuntman: Drive your vehicle off a cliff and try to stick the landing...or even survive Well, I hope this helped. I’ve found that doing some of the things I listed can actually help to better learn the terrain and can be quite enjoyable.
  11. I just hope that the new update doesn't break the community mods. That would be a disappointment.

    Headless Client for SinglePlayer???

    Thanks for the response Nab. I've created those large-scale missions before in the past and they can be a ton of fun. It can feel like a modern Napoleonic War with two opposing platoons facing each other.
  13. Is it necessary to have a headless client for single player if I'm getting at least 70 FPS? I have an I7 7700K and a GTX 1070. Would I see any noticeable improvement in the AI (And yes I am already aware of AI mods)? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for clarifying Chris! I primarily use Arma 2 OA, but I wanted my question to get some exposure on the forums (i.e. Arma 3 Section).

    Thanks for the detailed response. If it means anything, I actually did go many pages back looking over a good chunk of the posts. Also, although it was only this past summer when i actually got Arma 3, I followed it quite extensively before 1.60, which means I know what the game looked like before the update. Back to my original post, while I was going over the comments, I saw someone mention how Lythium looked excellent. So, I tried it out and it does in fact look superior. RHS models, IMHO, look much better. Even a vanilla(Nato) soldier made me think at one point of pre 1.60 visuals. The only possible drawback, which I'm going to test further, is that the shadows were a tad dark for me personally sometimes. Maybe I have to adjust the settings. But, interior lighting on soldiers was better. IMO, even ghillie suits looked better on this map.

    I don't know how helpful this is, but when I play Arma 2 OA, using Ace2 and ASR, I noticed that the AI would sometimes use Binoculars if they detected the enemy off in the distance. Maybe a script needs to be added to the core game where AI pull out their binoculars if they detect enemy troops from at least 400m.

    I took out the picture comparison since the colors can be reworked via a Recolor Mod(though I think the colors can be changed with an option in the game itself).
