T.Mani 10 Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) I really loved this game. Atleast for a while when it worked more or less ok. I bought it two weeks ago and it surprised me it was as good as it was. The open game world. The huge freedom missions. But now I'm in the Badlands mission. First of all I get the "white screen" bug I know other people been having. It turns white as soon as my soldier gets exhausted from running. I also recruited a handful of new soldiers but the game don't seem to be able to handle this. Half of my group of soldiers have gotten lost and are spread out all over the map going on their own quests. They're screaming "where are you", "Report your location". And no matter what I do, they can't find me. I only have like 4 soldiers following me out of atleast 15 or more. I can't exactly run to them either because I have to WALK to them which takes forever. If I try and run the screen sooner or later turns white as soon as my soldiers gets tiered from running. And if I actually get my mind to it and ignore white screen and run blindley to their location, they run AWAY from me before I even have a chance getting close. I also tried to fast travel to see if they automaticly get "teleported" to me, but it made everything even worse. Now these two bugs are game breaking and I don't feel like playing any more. I really want the game to work atleast as good as it did before this mission. Now it is a mess and I can't move on becuase of the stupid AI and their path finding and the freakn white screen bug. Anyone know how to skip this mission or a work around so I can get my soldiers back to me? Edited July 9, 2010 by T.Mani
TimRiceSE 10 Posted July 9, 2010 try patching. and learning to command. and what the hell is this white screen crap?
T.Mani 10 Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) I have the latest patch. What else can I say/command them other then "Regroup", "Move Here" or tell them my location to have them find me? The "white screen crap" is somethng that seem to happen as soon as I run and get tiered. Everything gets white but the HUD is still visible. If I stop and rest it gets back to normal after a while. This only happened on this mission. Never had it on the other missions. If the screen turns white while running the map is still visible if I enter it. T.Mani 10 Posted July 9, 2010 edit: You command via 1-8 keys, 1 key is Move command list, 2 is Target, 3 is Engage Mode, so forth. I know that. Doesn't work. The soldiers are still lost... Do your videos tell how to fix game breaking bugs?
Murklor 10 Posted July 9, 2010 I believe this is right about the time when you give up on SP and focus on MP.
Simon C 0 Posted July 9, 2010 You should give the editor a go mate, it's where all the fun is. Even without any scripts you can still create some good fun missions.

T.Mani 10 Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) I believe this is right about the time when you give up on SP and focus on MP. That's a shame. The SP had good potential... You should give the editor a go mate, it's where all the fun is. Even without any scripts you can still create some good fun missions. Yea... I think I give that a go. My videos never show game-breaking bugs because I simply do not encounter them, ever. I must be blessed by Jesus. :DGo check out MP, it's where the fun is if you're done with Single Player and AI. Have you played the SP part of the game and not encounter any bugs? And I wish I was done with Single Player and AI, but I never will be. The game breaking bugs are still stopping me. LJF 0 Posted July 9, 2010 Forget the missions mate they are a pain in the back side. get your self in the editor and create all sorts of battles within a few minutes. the editor makes this game what it is for me. Definitely, created a mission before in about 2 minutes: Set up a patrol in the woods and then a base with another patrol and some guards, at night. I gear up with explosives and a silenced rifle, run out and set some anti-personel mines in the field where the first patrol went by, figuring they'd trip them on the return, I also set a remote charge. After that I moved on and checked out the base, following the little patrol as it checked the outskirts. There was one guard by the road, as soon as the patrol was out of sight I took him down. Next up, the remaining two soldiers who were by this time behind a large warehouse, I ran around the back, coming up behind the two, a few bursts of fire and they went down. Next I had to take out the remaining patrol that was right back at the start since I hadn't heard any of my mines go off. I discovered them in an unfamiliar section of woods so I figured they probably wouldn't trip any minds, rest of the clip took most down, but a the foliage made my shots erratic and a few tried to take cover. A new mag fixed them, but I decided I'd try to get back to the starting position for extraction, only problem was, I didn't remember where it was. "Aha!" I thought, I detonated the explosives and walked towared the towering plume of smoke and dust. As I stood in the crater I saw the crates I had used earlier and started walking toward them, then the screen goes red and my dude hits the ground dead, just tripped my own mine. Was awesome :)

That sounds like the kind of thing ACE does where simply running makes your soldier unusable.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted July 9, 2010 Counter rant: And yet it is strange how the majority likes to have restrictions when they get opportunities... I've never been severely affected by ACE stamina despite usually being a machinegunner. Learn to pack your bags right, don't blame ACE for wanting to play COD style. Back on topic: Sounds to me your graphics screws up when you get the wavy post effect, which kicks in with vanilla stamina. If you are using ACE, I have to advice against it, as it's not too friendly for singleplayer missions, and can cause some weird things that was never supposed to happen. Try without ACE, and try to turn off post processing completely.
Antigoon 10 Posted July 9, 2010 And again, get into the multiplayer side of Arma! I actually never even tried one mission in single player, except the ones I create myself in the editor. I buy BIS games for MP first and foremost!
DokiDoki 10 Posted July 9, 2010 You can also try out some user made missions; Cypher and The Chernarus run are two single player missions which I really like a lot. Cypher being different every time you start it and The Chernarus run being a very long go everywhere mission. No annoying bugs for me there. And these show very well that single player can indeed be a lot of fun in Arma 2.
