ArmA II and money's worth.

Recommended Posts

I paid for a product that I like and want to like more. What is wrong withtrying to get my money's worth? Sure, I can make my own content but then I want part of the money I paid to BI back. I have found that any attempt to improve my experience by voicing my thoughts is met by a maelstrom of "TROLL LOL!!!" and other negative comments. I mean like, I did pay for something, I'm not asking for something for nothing here. Please remember this before calling someone a troll for asking for a new feature. That "TROLL LOL!!!" paid $50 to Bohemia and in return wants a product in return. He will want to get the most out of his money.

I hear ya. I would have payed maybe $10 upon release...

Right now you might get $30 out of me.

Hopefully soon it'll be worth my $50, even though other people will get the product for cheaper and have it completed since they didn't buy right away. ArmA2 has been a big disappointment that is growing into something much better for me.

I don't care how many people want to be the 'supermegaultra9001fan" that defends bis no matter how blatantly flawed the game is, it was a crap product much like past games upon release. Much like past games however, they are fixing it into something worthwhile and hopefully great in time. I know no game is perfect right out of the gate, especially ones so expansive, but jeez, 5 minutes 1 minute of testing was enough to make me shelf it so soon, so don't even try pulling that argument.

Lets hope OA gives it a nice boost.

At the end of the day, no matter how small the team is, no matter how indie, how hardcore or how dedicated you are Bohemia...

You are still a company. Companies release quality products at the time of purchase, not after literally years of patches.

Even if the game still had twice the glitches of release day, it would be a bargain at $50. $60 for 6 hours of MW2 SP, however, is a sick joke.

So now you have a rant thread about responses in your other rant thread...

The thing is you spent $50 and now want certain functions to repeal your sense of incompleteness -but I also spent 50 bucks and want 30 other completely seperate functions -and the next guy spent 50 b.....

Your never going to have the Everything Game. And 50 bucks is 50 bucks -1 night out with a really cheap date.

Mr 2000 posts has it right in my opinion.

It all comes down to what you like and want. I paid AU$55 for Arma 2 but personally I would have paid another AU$200 'cause I feel it's worth it, while at the same time I feel that paying AU$90 for MW2, AU$80 for Bioshock 2, AU$90 for Borderlands, are all extremely over priced.

But that's just me. If you don't enjoy what you get from ArmA 2 then obviously you'd feel ripped off, just as I did when I bought those other games and ran out of interest with them after 1 week (2 weeks for Borderlands)

Look at it this way:

Some other game companies could give less of a shit about post release support,

that other game I cant mention

Infinity Fail Ward, only patches exploits that their lifeless userbase finds on saturday night or when there modding their consoles.

BIS, has already gave us some nice free content the apache that was suppose to be sold with Operation arrowhead and the mini campaign.

they added Freetrack support and all kinds of new features.

I do agree alot of the bugs fixed in patches should've never been there in the first place I will give BIS some foregiveness seeing that they're a small company, have a very limited budget compared to other companies and that open world games usually end up having alot of bugs since theres alot of outcomes in gameplay.

I also want Arma 2 to be perfect and I get mad.

Hopefully instead of BIS adding new content going forward they will just fix and polish what we have already have.

There is no everything game, everyone knows that. But there is a difference between an everything game and a game that actually works. Defend it all you want, but many parts still don't work as they should, and upon release... damn that was awful. Since general viewpoints on this board indicate that ArmA2 is meant to be more of an engine for EVERYBODY (*eyeroll*) to work on (god forbid some of us just wanting a game to play without spending my life working on it), then it should be an anything game, but from what I've seen, its only come from a nothing game to a something game, and hopefully going beyond that...

..my head hurts now..

I respect how you feel about it and all, but I just can't grasp how a totally broken game was worth that much to you at release?

Just my 2 cents worth

I payed 48.00 AU and think i got what i payed for. I do understand that the game is going to be buggier than others on release simply because of how complex and open world it is compared to anyhing else out there. I also understand that no other company would release anything that comes close and open world as this game for the price range.

Also BIS will support this game so much and that cost them alot of time which is alot of money.

They would probably have to charge alot more on release because of the amount of testing needed etc for a game this complex if the game is going to be released with minimal bugs to make it worth there while and time and then most ppl then couldn't afford it.

A game this open and complex compared to anything else for the same price or less is more than worth what i payed for it.

U could always buy VBS2 for a couple of K's if u want something hard tested and more error free

OK, so adjusting that from my point of view:

I would have paid 100€ for this gem. However I did pay approx 35€ and I've made some MP missions freely for the community. Should I now count how many more missions are required from me to demand BI those 35€ back?

How about no....

Good grief

Please remember this before calling someone a troll for asking for a new feature.

You're not called a troll because you ask for a new feature, you're called a troll because of how you ask.
