GL4 does so much more than special effects it's a question if you want the whole package or not with all AI-changes.

You can get GL4 with WarFX effects and GL4 AI, but you can't use GL4 without the AI-stuff.

Personally I prefer WarFX, but only you can know what special effects you like more. Download both and try.

in the GL4 userconfig you can go into the local settings and disable the visual effects if you find you prefer War FX more. That way you still get the AI enhancements of GL4, but the effects of War FX. War FX does nothing to change the AI at all, so if GL4 is setup right, they wont conflict each other. however if you find you prefer GL4 over War FX, then you can just turn all settings on in GL4, and leave off War FX.

Ok will download and try.

Speaking on the AI, is the GL4 AI better than ACE's?

Not trying to start something here, i just want to get the most outta my game.

best combo is ACE, GL4, and Zeus AI for ace.

there is info in the Zeus AI thread that will tell you how to set everything up properly. more info can be found in the GL4 thread.

Just use the certain FX that WarFX offers and disable the same thing in GL4. Then activate everything extra that GL4 offers. They really aren't anything a like, with the exception of some effects. I use both and JTD fire and smoke with ACE2, among other Mods/AddOns as well.

Get the best of all worlds! ;)

Not really fair to compare mods, each has their own good and bad points. Saying one is better than the other isn't nice for the maker of the addon judged to be 'worse'. ;)

Nice or not, sometimes an addon IS better than another one. In this case however they are designed so differently it's a matter of taste. ^^

You gotta check the readme and features, it's explains everything. But changing the thing is done via the .hpp's from the download(UserConfig folder I believe it's called there.) Take those files and put them in userconfig/GL4. You may need to create the GL4 folder and place the .hpp's in there. But the userconfig folder is in the main A2 directory.(Where you place mod folders.)

Then once the .hpp's are in the right place you can edit all the different settings in those files. The ReadMe and Feature .pdf's explain what everything does. For that you are on your own, there's way too much stuff to explain here.

Wrong place for this type of thread, but to be naughty and answer .. I think GL4 has a more refined warfx look wheres war fx has some slighlty overdone things.

But ... warfx is being updated and will soon tone down those things in which case I will probably turn off fx in GL4 and use warfx.

Bear in mind GL4 FX are 20 percent of what its about so dont skip it as the FX part can be turned off and is a bonus, core GL4 is what its all about :)

If you want to know about GL4 configs ask in the GL4 thread, same for warfx :)

ACE and GL4. Ive also heard that Zeus AI and UPS is good, but having them all activated could increase the server load way too much?

Use a mirror and DL a different version. If not, if you read the settings .hpp's each option has a small description.

What's stopping you from using BOTH? :) They work well together as long as you apply a simple fix for the pixelled smoke problem.

Replace this line :

cloudletUniversal = "\Ca\Data\ParticleEffects\Universal\Universal. p3d" ;

};

That fix it for good.

I think those two addons get along nicely.

Refer to the above for the fix.

for some reason gl4 gives me some serios lag but war fx doesn't i have no idea why this happens and it's only gl4 that does it

I use gl4 as part of my ai enhancements. it has never caused any lag, however that said, it does do a lot concerning ai behaviour which can drag some cpu’s down a little, could be its doing that to yours not sure. Or maybe its conflicting with another mod, take it right back and run just gl4 and see if it still lags, if yes, then I would think its dragging down your cpu.:)
