mrcash2009 0 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) Much like "Copy my stance" mod that overrides AI to force them to do this. Does anyone know of a way to add a action menu item that would mimic what Ghost Recon the original had which was "At all costs" mode. IE: stealth / aware / danger / at all costs. This feature set the AI to do whatever you requested without question/own ideas and at all costs no matter if under fire/detected/danger would move or do exactly what you asked. So in an evasive maneuver where your suppressed and you need your team to ignore engagement and run like hell "at all costs" mode would put them into this way of thinking. Any modders/scripters think this is doable in the engine at all? Or BIS would consider this an engine menu addition later on? I guess its a forced/fixed safe mode hack really. It was a great feature in Ghost Recon, as you could get your men out of dodge rather well, plus with the great stay crouched anims you can get your team/man to scoot out of harms way with force. Caxton Gibbet 0 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) I've been thinking about an option for the player to pass a 'NeverFire' command to Ai team mates as the hold fire command that is available to the player in game is in fact a 'hold fire, defend only' command which is why the Ai will disregard it once they have, or suspect they have, been detected. The 'Neverfire' command is only available within the editor via waypoint creation or using the 'setcombatmode' command. This could possible provide a 'stealth at all costs',as well as force a more complete disengagment for the 'get the hell out of here at all costs', the option to set behaviour to 'Careless' may also help with that. The Main problem would be whether or not the Ai's ability to enter 'Danger' mode can actualy be supressed.I may have a look into this at the weekend. I like this idea, nice one MrCash. Anything that gives the player the option to have more control over their Ai team mates is a good thing in my book. froggyluv 2136 Posted January 13, 2010 Pretty similar to my request for a Run command but this sounds good as well. I think the common theme in a few of these threads is that we need a way to overide the basic AI behaviour in certain situations. Sometimes, I need those 3 riflemen to haul ass over to that flanking position on the hill regardless of their perceived threat level. I guess the Dev's didn't want their AI's to be treated like automotons  The overide could have stipulations such as your rank, skill level, recent squad casualties as well as your subordinates rank/skill to prevent robotic commanding. Squad respects you "Sure will move however you say"...They don't respect you "Go do it your f#cking self mate!" (resulting in default behaviour)
Mark XIII (DayZ) 18 Posted January 17, 2010 Nice idea mrcash, very cool. Would save many a long night playing only to be slaughtered before the last objective gets completed ! I hope someone can figure this out :D

beagle23 16 Posted January 26, 2010 I got shot down in an Apache in warfare, autorotated down, right? Used the special ability of the engineer type to repair up the Apache after about 10 minutes of waiting for the AI Armor to ride off and away from my crash site. Anyway, I get in as pilot, I figure I've got a 50% chance of taking off before one of these tanks or shilkas turns arounds and bops me. Who knows how I actually got out of there, because I ended up having to wait like a full minute to take off, as my AI gunner decided 'get in as gunner' meant 'run to a spot 25m in front of the helo, kneel, scan for enemies, run to a spot 25m to the east, kneel, scan for enemies, run over to helo, go prone, scan for enemies, then get in' Reaaaaaaaallly could have used an 'At all costs' mode. Did you tell the AI to go into Aware mode? Usually, Danger mode is what keeps them doing the stand/kneel/prone shuffle.

Yeah, I'd had it happen to me before so he was in aware. Halfway through I even put him in safe so he'd just run and get in, but he still knew better than me and wanted to make sure we were safe before I took off
