I know posting kiss ass threads can make people sick to the stomach :)

But I thought Id take time in this section to highlight what I think is a real leap and bound moment for A2 in just the last month or so with recent mods released.

Simply put: ACE2 + ZEUS AI + GL4 + New Hifi Weapon sounds / Ace2 audio + Copy My stance MOD + Hybrid Command .. has put (for me) A2 leaps ahead from A1 needing to be weight down with shed loads of mods to create something similar but not as intense. (not knocking Arma 1 here I was with it all the way).

I played a session SP tonight using this combination fully with a few config fiddles so they all work swimmingly together I think, for the fist time, playing an Arma game I got panicked, sucked completely into the battle, amazed by the AI, took if far more serious, actually broke a sweat, and realised one I took a break just how tense I had got ... and time just flew by. It not like I didn't get it much before, but its like a whole new experience and approach, dare I say it, I even had an MP game feel to it and im running around with bots.

Th AI tactics / flanking of ZEUS (jesus the AI are some hardcore firepower).. the suppression and movement of the patch + GL4/Ace2, the control levels with hybrid command and groups ... the feel with ace2, the ear cracking gunfire of Hifi weapons, and the swift reliability of copy my stance is just dreamlike :)

I have had many moments with Arma but always something just kept that total satisfaction/anxiety/real draw on tactics "feel" in an absolute kind of way. Well, now .. this is the first time I can honestly say Im using the best thing out there. These few mods are fairly new and came along pretty much in quick succession of one another, and in that short space of time (plus BIS patch) the gap from before to now is very large indeed.

I just want to thank all the authors of said mods (and some recent map makers like FDF / Lamansk etc) and just a nod to say that you have thrown this sim into a new realm.

Also im not sure whats in the water, but since A2 came out the modding has been really collective, lots of cross chatter, lots of standards being met with config placement / modular approach to set a standard and its paying off big time. Mind you Kju seems to be playing a big part in keeping that in check.

So from me a convert to Arma in late 2007, modding to death with classics like ECS mod / COC/CEX .. mixing sound mods to death with fiddly configs .. and now lumping less than 5 mods into A2 and getting satisfaction 200% more a massive thumbs up to you folk, and for what its worth a great new year, a new year for far more goodies .. and lets not forget the expansion.

I know this isn't re inventing the wheel in terms of thread posts, but its mainly pointing out how far things jumped in such a short space of time with such little payload in order to make that leap.

You should try LandTex too. Adds greatly to the immersion and heals the eye after all the pain it has to endure with stock BI ground textures. :)

+1 for landtax and the above mods :)

Don't forgot all those early mods that helped us along :)

Vopsound, TSRM tracked vehicles, TR heli sounds, landtax etc....

Add Warfx and TracersWarfx to that list and you are good to go.

I also use minimal crosshair mod to force my players to stop using the magical ultra accurate Arma crosshairs. It helps with immersion since they can't casually kill anyone. They have to put some damn effort too!

Oddly enough WarFX I use GL4 for now, landtex & pistofolds tracers.

Thing is Im referring not to mods in general but to the most recent ones that came out that have pushed A2 in both AI and immersion on a script level & audio and that these all are fresh in terms of time of release in the last month or so. Things have been getting good with multiple small mods but these select recent few just tie it all together as a guts of A2 platform in my eyes.

The point is with just the ones I listed it covers many smaller mods features and then some.

One thing that does bothers me though..I can understand ACE as it's a total conversion that replaces and adds items basicaly making a whole new game.. but a lot of those other mods (sound , WarFx etc.) shouldn't have been necessary in the first place.All they do is enhance or replace the most BASIC features of ArmA 2.

If mod makers can do it , surely to god the developers could have and thus avoid the confusion of mod conflicts , what mods are necessary for what modules etc. etc. :confused:

Thank god though that there were mod makers out there willing to do what BI should have done in the first place.:cool:

FYI : I wont play ArmA without WarFX and Zeus AI though..
