Expansion pack, vehicle and more?

Recommended Posts

Hello! i have idea! why Bis you dont sell some expansion pack, the idea is simple, i see in vbs2 many model, probably many peoples, like to see it in arma 2 for exemple: USA Truck expansion pack, weapons pack, Civilian pack, building, house pack....etc..

25$ our 40$ each...expansion pack with couple model inside! will be very interesting! just a idea :yay: because i see, from ofp to arma 2 dont have much addons makers actualy, and why peoples will create something, is on vbs2 and not in arma 2? if you check posibilty made some xpansion pack, thats will be interesting am 90% sure about that, business thing to!

Just exemple:

its not very economically viable for BIS to release "unit only" exp packs.

why? the community will do it for free eventually. why pay $40 for a pack of different us 5 ton trucks?

In OA its not that we are just getting a new island, all new units, weapons vehicles, factions, but also an improved game engine, like dynamic town generation, and FLIR ;)

remember the hostile reactions from the community about queens gambit for arma?

Many of VBS vehicles don't have a detailed interior that would match ArmA2 standards, so BIS would have to rework/update them, which would take too much time.

And as That guy already said, when ArmA: Queens Gambit was released, many people bitched about it just having a couple of vehicles and two shitty campaigns.

and no one will buy them! :yay:

the whole dlc packet thing is ridiculous and simply would not work for a game like this. it might work for the more mainstream crud like modern warfare 2 where every knucklehead wants to buy it despite it being overpriced.

DLC wouldn't be a bad idea...Drop the price of them 5 tons to $1.99-$4, and I would buy it!

Only one problem: It would split the community, and that's why it's not going to happen...

VBS2 was not designed to have eye candy, it was designed to train soldiers not get them addicted to one of the greatest games ever made :P

It's a lot cheaper, and easier to do it in VBS2 than to do the real thing.

I think your idea about expansion packs is wonderful. I really wish BIS would pull 1/4 of its staff away from official game development to work on expansions packs. that way it will take longer for development on the next title to be released an we can enjoy the new expansion content longer in the current game release. Oh an not to mention The expansion content would have to be encrypted just as VBS content is. Cant have people sharing this stuff like its free. No money making that way. Yes I'm being sarcastic. But hey Its a good concept of an idea. 99% sure it will not happen though. If it could happen it probably would have happened along time ago. An sorry if I seem rude. im just um.. yeah... :yay:

I don't mind DLC as long as they still release the original game with what is expected, the DLC should just be there to give you a new toy

Think about the effort in making those packs. Along with piracy measures aswell. would it be worth it for BIS to develop packs like this.

I could pay almost anything to have more campaigns and large missions. A quality 40-missions campaign like in OFP would be so welcome. Short campaigns can be good too but the atmosphere can become even better when there is continous story for weeks.

More armies, like PLA(Better then OPF:DR), an EU Army or seperated european armies(UK,Germany and France); more weapons and vehicles for Russia and US, Better use of buildings.More players for Warfare (32/64 will be nice). introducing tactical aid like in World in conflict(fuel bomb, napalm, carpet bombs)

Hmmm.... So basically Leon VBS2 in ArmA 2. Nice but ain't gonna happen. I do like the idea of DLC as long as the packs stay at $5-$10 or so. That way most (If not all) of the community would be able to afford them. If 1 pack was released every 3 or 4 months I could see it working. The only tough thing would be the content of the packs. I could see some VBS 2 stuff being used but I really doubt they would want to bring the really good stuff from there to here. You DO have to fork over (What is it? $1,000 or $2,000?) to get that.

Expansion pack ? Yeah, sure, why not. I would pay too, thats not a problem, and I think a lot of people would pay for such packs too....but as NZX said, would it be worth it for BIS to develop packs like this ? Thats the right question..

I'd like to see expansion packs like Resistance. It had some units, a campaign, an island, and some gameplay enhancements. I loved that. I'm looking forward to OA.

I would definitely pay for DLC content made by BIS

Specially for content that community addon makers rarely touch, eg. new buildings, misc. objects, different civilians and animals.

I'd also pay for "official", detailed .pdf guides on scripting, mission making, addon creating etc.

And most importantly, I'd be willing to pay for official Animation Creating tool kit software, with instructions :D

Dragon Age did a smart thing regarding piracy i think. You have to download a bit of the game through the game (quests etc). That part requires that the server knows you so pirates cant do it, and they play the game they can play and loving it - now they just cant play it fully. Ofcourse i dont think those downloadable parts cost anything(?), but its a smart thing.

You could have the same with DLC, but you have to be known to the server to actually get to buy and DL the new stuff. Also it needs to be made in some file system that cant be un-pbo'ed and slapped into a normal addon that can be distributed around.

Dont know, but unless those DLC are made smartly i think it will be ripped to shreds and shared around the planet generating close to nothing for BIS.

I believe that Arrowhead is the best way to go : a big expansion with a lot of content, new campaigns and environments + news engine tweaks every 6 months or so.

Only one problem: It would split the community, and that's why it's not going to happen...

The community split argument is not really valid as every Arma player already has a different set of addons than his neighbour : ACE ? FDF ? BW ? P85? OHPLA ?).

The advantage of official content is consistency in quality and values (armor etc...) with Vanilla Game.

That was not a smart thing regarding piracy, that was a way to get more money out of our pockets. They did cost money.
