;1543792']Will the Core or Flares conflict with ACE?

I use em. Check the thread though.(I believe it's already been mentioned.)

I have noticed when I get going fast in the puma it tends to pull up. I don't know if it's a feature or not, though. Not a big deal.

Also, with the Lynx, it has a tenancy to shake really bad at speed. It's almost like in my Puma vid when I dove without engine power, like I'm just on the brink of flipping out. I'll perform some tests tonight.

Its a by-product of the envelope settings that define lift.

Thats intentional. Its there to prevent people flying around at 500kph after a dive. You may be even more aware of it in future versions.

No there is no known conflict.

I think it would be better (And more realistic.) if you made it so the retreating side of the rotors lost lift, and the heli did barrel rolls, instead of it spazzing out. Dissymmetry of lift is a bitch.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retreating_blade_stall

:p

I also have one request. It's a kind of big thing, could you please make it so if you lose engine power and you have a tail rotor out you don't spin like a top? Because it's a common tactic to escape a dizzying doom in a helicopter by going into autorotation, because it gets rid of torque and thus the problem with the whole spinning deal.

Recommended Recovery Techniques

If a sudden unanticipated right yaw occurs, the pilot should perform the following:

  • Apply full left pedal. Simultaneously, move cyclic forward to increase speed. If altitude permits, reduce power.
  • As recovery is effected, adjust controls for normal forward flight.
  • Collective pitch reduction will aid in arresting the yaw rate but may cause an increase in the rate of descent. Any large, rapid increase in collective to prevent ground or obstacle contact may further increase the yaw rate and decrease rotor rpm.
  • The amount of collective reduction should be based on the height above obstructions or surface, gross weight of the aircraft, and the existing atmospheric conditions.
  • If the rotation cannot be stopped and ground contact is imminent, an autorotation may be the best course of action. The pilot should maintain full left pedal until rotation stops, then adjust to maintain heading.

Its just not possible within the current game engine. The flight model physics are just far too crude.

You could argue Blade stall's are already present in the game. Try a high speed, high G turn in an AH1 and watch it sink like a rock. But a realistic simulation of real world rotary wing physics is not really possible in the current engine.

Sorry this is also oustide of our control. Its an engine limit. I can only work within the game engine. You'll need to talk to BIS about this.

Theoretically it could be scripted but that would only create a whole load of other issues. MP problems especially, its just not practical.

Fair enough. Can't wait to see more addons in the future.

P.s. How is that Apache coming?

Without knowing the real world applications, this is how i've always dealt with tail rotor loss in game (since ArmA1).

If you turn off your engine, the chopper should stop spinning, and my aim is usually to stop it facing my direction of travel so I can then fly in that direction. Obviously at speed, the tail rotor is no longer much of a factor and you don't spin. I then use autorotation again when landing to try to avoid the spin coming back. No reason why the Pumas and Lynx can't have this too.

As it says in my sig, my original account became the victim of a BIS forum crash.

The website is down due to some evil little shit hacking the server so amaturely that they rendered it unreachable. It should be back up in the next 24hrs.

I'm not having a good month

Great job on the Puma! I noticed that when you are in 1st person view inside the helo you don't get any engine noise? Is that normal for the addon?

great addon and great model. But as I start engines and the blades are bluring the sound disappears. Is there a way to fix that? It´s fun to fly that Cat but without Cockpit sound it isn´t fun.

Please read this and this.

There will be an updated version at some point in the near-ish future. It keeps getting delayed for real world reasons.

OK, I guess I get you. But under consideration of that.

Are you basically willing to add a...let me call it none realsitc sound environment?

I totally understand your point.

Cause you say:

I am making those addons, I spend thousands of hours of my time, just to get those stupid questions? I am sorry, but at the end I am just the user you made it for, and as such a user I ask you friendly.

Is there a plan to change the soundinvironment?

My Eys are saying this.... :yay:

But my ears are saying...what? has there been somethings?

Do you get my point?

I have already said several times in the recent past that the future versions will have the unrealistic interior sounds.

.... I am sorry, but at the end I am just the user you made it for, and as such a user I ask you friendly.

Actually no, you are not. These addons were made first and foremost for myself and my group of friends. They were only ever released to the public as a courtesy to the community.

The group(s) I made this for wanted a helicopter addon they could use in large scale multiplayer games in their realism teams. This included the extensive use of radio communications, something that was rather difficult to use with the interior sounds playing at high levels. There was a vote and more than 80% of the testers wanted the sound reduced. So it got reduced.

Is there a plan to change the soundinvironment?

Yes there is a plan to change the sounds back to the totally unrealistic levels

My Eys are saying this.... :yay:

But my ears are saying...what? has there been somethings?

Do you get my point?

Personally my ears say "Thank god im not ruining my hearing with all this white noise" and "wow, i can hear everything thats being said on coms without having to ask for repeats"

just keeps me left one thing thing to say

Keep up te good work, the Community will be thankfull.

Hi Rock

First of all thank you very much for your dedicated time. All your addons are just awesome, they're clearly among my favorites

But I'm having a few issues.

Using the ACE mod there's a problem with the dust created by the rotor. It's concentrated under the helo and not spreading properly

RKSLissue1.jpg

This results in a dramatic loss of FPS. It only happens using ACE with your Puma and the MH53 made by SFC.ITZHAK. Is there anything I can do ?

Also, despite the fact I have all the required files (RKSL core, flare,cargo,...) I'm constantly having this message popping up :

RKSLissue2.jpg

This my @RKSL folder :

Thank you, keep up the good work

Might be ACE/CBA problem.

Planning to take a look tonight; http://dev-heaven.net/issues/15338

There's been quite some changes lately, perhaps we've overlooked something / caused bug.

rpt file or at least details like ACE and CBA mod versions etc could be helpful.

Btw cannot find a MH53 by itzak, only; http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6879

Dank U wel Sickboy.

My ACE version is 1.5.1.399, I can't find my CBA version but the files are dated from the July 7th. ArmA 2 is v1.54.72888

I don't know how to access to the rtp file, sorry :butbut:

Do I have to add something at dev-heaven ?

NP :) First, please update to 1.6 Stable; http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/ACE_1_6

Or preferably 1.6 update 1; http://ace.dev-heaven.net/wagn/ACE_1_6_Update_1

(including the CBA version that goes with it).

Perhaps it's an old bug :) But we don't create dust either, we only apply the effects of dust and no goggles, to infantry near etc.

Re the ticket at dev-heaven; if it's a bug in ACE/CBA, we would best process it there, I think.

Any word on which MH53 package you are using, link at armaholic / bif or otherwise perhaps?

Thanks.

(Re the rksl-system error, not my domain however it would seem you are having an older version of rksl-system loaded in some of your other mod-folders. the rksl-system.pbo on the screenshot shows correct file-date, and includes the files that is reported missing)

The dust issue isnt caused by anything RKSL related. We use the default effects and always have. So its ACE or MH53 affecting it. I've only ever seen this when using a 3rd party effects mod. JTD smoke I think.

You edited your post when i was replying to this removing the links to the pics but your 2nd error is due to a missing or damaged system PBO.

JTD is ok, I tryied with it alone and there's no problem. It's probably ACE related, will continue the discussion in the appropriate place.

I have edited my post but didn't change any pics ;)

I've download several times the RKSL system on Armaholic, I'll try on an another site and warn Foxhound if the armaholic link is not up to date.

Thanks for your answer Rock.

And thank you too Sickboy, registering to Dev-heaven right now

Well I've download the file from ArmedAssault.info and still having the same error message.

Once again it's only happening we I run it with ACE. I don't think it causes any problem so it's ok.

Thanks for your help
