Colt45_GTO 10 Posted December 11, 2009 this topic has inspired me to post this from a car forum. its a simple question, before computers, before mobile phones, before forums and other electronic gadgetry, what did you do for fun? could you live without a pc now? So to get the ball rolling, my reply to the original thread away from here was this.... i used to actually drive my car! that was before i got a computer, and before that i used to spend countless hours sat in a wooded area or a field with a rifle. now i'm not so enthusiastic. i'm nowhere near as physically fit as i was. and i'm 50X more boring! could i do without a computer now? probably but its got to be harder than kicking crack. the interwebz is a really strong drug! i'd have more chance quitting smoking than quitting computing! MehMan 0 Posted December 11, 2009 What did I do for fun? I rode bikes! I fixed bikes! Then I was 10 and we got our first 56k modem and that was the end of that. Now I fix my car and I mod my car. Could I live with the internets? Yes and no. As in, it's not a necesity but it makes life a whole lot easier. Remember, the internet is much more than just porn and forums. -Total- 0 Posted December 12, 2009 Hmmmm.... 1986 I was 15 yrs old and on Quantum Link on the Commodore 64 using the ever powerful 300 baud cartidge modem (that's 0.03K for those who don't remember baud rates lol!) It had shopping, chat, etc so I guess it counted as the internet. Aside from computing (gaming, programming, etc) I rode motorcyles, dated, played pool leagues, etc Now I am married, still riding, have a recording studio, a band, a job... It's all about balance. I definitely remember life before cell phones. I miss it sometimes lol!
mr_centipede 31 Posted December 12, 2009 I know computer since before I could read or write. Played an ATARI then go to PC games... But then, there was no internet, so as kids, I do what kids normally do, play tags, kick some ball, get bullied stuff like that. getting older, kick some ball, bully some kids, play RISK/monopoly.. and still play computer. and without cell phones... ah the good ole days when my brain actually had something to do... I can remember almost all my friends phone number (and my ATM PIN number) without having to refer to a phone book. now, you dont have to remember it... the phone had it all, find the person, press call. or maybe my brain just getting older.. hahaha
