Freeze every 5-6 seconds

Hi all!

I've got a problem.

I've just installed ArmA II with the 1.04 patch, but every 5-6 seconds it freeze for 1 second.

I've tried to set a lower resolutions, to set low details and any differerent kind od configuration, but I still have this problem.

If I run Fraps and use the 1024x768x32 configuration, I can see that it goes for 5-6 seconds at 30-35fps, so it goes to 2fps for a while, then return to 30-35fps.

I've also tried to put arma2.exe in compatibilty mode like Windows XP SP2, but it doesn't resolve the problem.

I run it on a Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 (2.13GHz x 2), 2GB RAM, and a Radeon 4870 and Windows 7 32bit.

I think it's still good for play... I've played at COD-MW2 without any kind of hardware problems...

Any advice?

Hi regist, welcome to Arma2 and the Forum.

I had a similar problem to this when one of my graphics cards was full of dust and overheating. Might want to check for dust build up on your gfx card if its over a year old.

other things to try are command line switches.

-winxp and -maxmem=2047 : add these to the "target" line of the Shortcut properties and see if it helps.

I had this micro stutter when i was on vista so are you running vista by any chance? I then switched to xp and the micro stutter i suffered in vista has gone and now i'm on 7 and there is no vista micro stutter. If you're not on vista then defrag your drive with system mechanics "free trial" and perform the deep scan/defrag then download game booster and finally move your paging file "you should do that anyway" to a drive different than your game and set min=max.

I think i read somewhere that you manually should set/adjust the page file in win 7 to get rid of stutter!

ok, that leaves him with a good defrag and page file work.

Edit: download the latest beta patches as well, i don't see him mentioning them!!

Probably I've got a solution: I reboot and close most of all program was running.

Now it goes without any freeze.

I think it was the RAM.

Is it possible?

I'd say You definitely need more ram.

3Gb is absolute minimum

command line:

I get mico-stutters too every few seconds when I don't close down certain background apps; chances are that was your problem.

I'd try to narrow it down by closing them one-by-one and testing; but I don't have time for that so I just use gamebooster which closes them down for me with one click; helps a lot

command line arguments should never have "AND" wrtitten in them

would the the correct method to use multiple arguments and also multiple mods
