VictorFarbau 0 Posted December 7, 2009 Let me hotlink a message from the VFTCAS thread here: Quick Test of build 60902 I don't know whether the 60902 Helicopter changes were supposed to address this issue in the 1st place - but I guess this would need further improvement. Cheers, VictorFarbau
bxbx 0 Posted December 7, 2009 sorry for misunderstanding. its not "crash avoiding improved" but "crash into ground improved". sometimes happens that helicopter fall down on ground and doesn't explode, because of wrong condition in helicopter crash simulation, this was fixed. jw custom 56 Posted December 7, 2009 sorry for misunderstanding.its not "crash avoiding improved" but "crash into ground improved". sometimes happens that helicopter fall down on ground and doesn't explode, because of wrong condition in helicopter crash simulation, this was fixed. Ahh thanks for clarifying it, i also got it wrong :p
VictorFarbau 0 Posted December 7, 2009 (edited) All right, in that case I'll leave VFTCAS installed :) Good that this was fixed though - I was really wondering about some choppers remaining intact after some 200m freefall... bxbx 0 Posted December 8, 2009 Try and flip a helicopter upside down, it will blow up but you and the crew wont die  . I tried Mi17, Mi24, AH1Z and MH60, everyone blows up, all crew die. Can you give me better repro. Thanks
Heatseeker 0 Posted December 8, 2009 With the UH-1Y or the AH-1 cobra its quite simple to reproduce in the editor. I havent been able to with Mi-8 or hind and with MH60 its a bit hard.. Repro: Hover couple meters above the ground, press A key untill helicopter flips and lands on its rotor. The model simply switches to that with no explosion. Notice the crew is still inside and the armour bar is about 60%.
rundll.exe 12 Posted December 8, 2009 confirmed with ALL choppers, repro is indeed as Heatseeker says: -Fly at 8 to 10 meters altitude, stationary -press A, so left side of the rotor touches the ground, before you flip upside down -Hold A until you're upside down The model will turn into destroyed model, without any effects, and crew will be inside (incl player) without any damage. The damage of the chopper is low (90% health sometimes)
VictorFarbau 0 Posted December 9, 2009 Confirmed as well in 61012. I just had an AH-1Z hovering (4m height) over Utes airport. Pressed A so it started tilting to the left - eventually it tipped over completely changing to the "destoyed" model. No explosion no harm done to the pilots. Not critical in my view but certainly awkward behaviour. VictorFarbau
Fireball 16 Posted December 9, 2009 Try again with latest beta 61032.
rundll.exe 12 Posted December 9, 2009 Its not fixed in 61032 unfortunately, I still can repro it in the same way, every time.
maddogx 13 Posted December 10, 2009 I was able to repro it too with 61032, although I noticed that the pilot then says stuff like "Helicopter is FUBAR!". Was this in there before or is it new?
rundll.exe 12 Posted December 10, 2009 Its exactly the same as before
f2k sel 164 Posted December 11, 2009 Has anyone noticed that if you set several waypoints for your chopper all is fine unless your waypoints cross over each other or are positioned close to each other then the chopper starts to fly very slowly.
VictorFarbau 0 Posted December 12, 2009 F2k_Sel, please don't hijack this thread for a different problem. This is about the crash condition bug (heli upside down crash). VictorFarbau
santafee 10 Posted December 12, 2009 Another question for shooting Helicopters.. If you shot a Apache or MI with a Stinger or IGLA, shouldnt it blow up from the impact at least some times? is this realistic?
VictorFarbau 0 Posted December 12, 2009 Himmelsfeuer, please don't hijack this thread for a different problem. This is about the crash condition bug (heli upside down crash). Let's not make it harder for Devs to follow up as it already is. Thanks. ---------- Post added at 04:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:59 PM ---------- [61032] - Same behaviour indeed. Chopper went upside down, model changed to wreck, both Pilots alive, no explosion. Tested it 3 times. The resulting damage values of my chopper after the crash: 1. 0.0534749 2. 0.0577221 3. 0.118688 VictorFarbau
VictorFarbau 0 Posted December 13, 2009 [61062] Identical behaviour. But since this is a cosmetical bug I don't even mind so I won't follow this anymore. Got more important things to do :) VictorFarbau
Flash Thunder 10 Posted December 15, 2009 I think its a height issue, I just reproduced it also using the UH1Y and the AH1Z at 4 meters it just turned into a dead damage model with no explosion or sound, but when I went past 4 meters and did it the helos explode and the crew is dead. I guess the damage values are messed up at short height when crashing and the collision values arn't equaling an explosion or death to the crew. Sorry if this sounds nooby not very technical when it comes to programming and variables. Cheers :)
