Variable 322 Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) I want my AI's to target an enemy (not attack it) when I right click on the enemy. Which function do I have to assign to my right click then? I know I can use the "2 key" sub-command target list menu using the keyboard but I want to do it using the mouse. If I am not clear enough, this is what I want to do: You move stealthy, You detect a full squad heading your way, they havn't detected you. You want to assign each member of your fire team a different enemy soldier so when you open fire, each member will fire on a different enemy. You want to complete the process of assigning targets WHILE YOUR TEAM ASSUMES HOLD FIRE. So when you will order them to open fire, they will open up together, each on a different target. There was such mechanism in OFP 1, couldn't manage to figure out how to do the same using the mouse it in arma 2. Edited October 14, 2009 by Variable
LukeB 10 Posted October 14, 2009 I would also like to know how to do this. Not being able to assign targets greately limits possible strategies. Cheers, Luke.
horrgakx 1 Posted October 15, 2009 Good question - anyone got an answer?
Variable 322 Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) Good question - anyone got an answer? Found the answer! It's indeed the "Reveal" function, just like in OFP and ArmA. However, the default controls have it on "Hold Sec. Mouse Buttom", so it doesn't work. Simply change it to "Sec. Mouse button" and it will work like a charm. horrgakx 1 Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) The secondary mouse button, by default on my ArmA2, is set up for **3** things; 1) Reveal Target 2) Lock or Zoom 3) Hold breath Confused... I've now moved "Reveal Target" onto another button (the side mouse button), but that still leaves 'Lock or Zoom' and 'Hold Breath' on Mouse2. Is that okay? Edited October 27, 2009 by horrgakx
jeffroland 10 Posted October 28, 2009 The two rarely conflict with each other. Hold breath is only for sniping, it steadies the gun for a few seconds. The only conflict I've really had problems with is when you are driving a vehicle with a gun of any type and the gun is manned by one of your men. If you want to zoom in you could unintentionally tell your gunner to target what you're looking at. For example. I was driving a HMV in one of the bigger cities on the coast when a really hot girl in a mini skirt walked by. I zoomed in to check out her legs then I heard the dreaded 'Target Man' and my gunner pumped about 20 .50 cal rounds into her. Damn waste of a beautiful woman. CarlGustaffa 4 Posted October 31, 2009 It should work okay (no "conflicts"). However, I have rebound hold breath to a different key so I can "zoom" without holding breath, saving it for when I really need it. It's not that important for the vanilla game, but I believe it will be something to consider when ACE2 mod comes around as their weapons shake is greater by default. Good move to rebind "reveal target". It is a pain in the ass in multiplayer when you are interrupted by peoples avatar going "got him" or "rifleman at nnnn" when humans are trying to talk. And yes, I have also problems trying to get rid of that zoom+target combo. They will target anything if you're not careful.
Eclipse4349 0 Posted May 26, 2010 I was searching for a while till I worded my query properly to find this post, eventually. I am so glad I did! I remapped my "reveal target" key to "Left CTRL+ Primary Mouse button", and it now works perfectly! Command to hold fire, assign targets one by one, command open fire, watch the fireworks!!! The reveal target key should be mapped to "Left CTRL+ Primary Mouse button" by default, and called "assign target" instead of "reveal target". Must be a translation/ language barrier thing.
