CPU limiting or framelock ?

Hi,

from release to now AA2 performance has increased significantly (also due to newer nvidia drivers). Still I never get above 25-30 fps online no matter how many player no matter if highest or lowest gfx settings.

What's the cause of this ? I have a 2x4GHZ E8500. I really don't see what is limiting the performance...

Its the server. I guess you are playing Coop evo or Domination? Imo there are way to many objects on the map for any server to be able to handle these missions properly. I do play these types of missions and it is possible to find servers that are better than others, but I have come to the conclusion now that these missions will never have the same performance you can get in PVP /smaller missions. At least for the next couple of years.

The problem is that 30fps is the maximum. It frequently drops into the teens.

Eh? With v-sync not disabled my max FPS is 60 (I have standard 60hz on my FT), and I sometimes hit that. With v-sync off more would be possible.

In this game 30 is the absolute minimum for smooth gameplay. I know because my fps never rises to that level.

My Vsync is on and my theoretical max fps is 120 (120hz monitor). If i go into the editor and look at the sky I get 120fps. If you go onto a multiplayer coop and look at the sky you will get around 30fps- the max the server will allow you to get.

My only suggestion is it might be OS related? I had that 25 - 30fps issue in Vista, problem vanished after Windows 7. I can't say if if it's the cause or the cure, but that's what I experienced, as well as a few others who either moved from Vista back to XP, or from Vista to Windows 7.

Lol, that's weird. I get the exact same frame-rates in MP as I do in SP. If some servers are limiting FPS I've yet to go on one.
