the answer to that is no.

You can have as many mods as you desire on YOUR OWN MACHINE.

now if you do not have an addon the SERVER requires you will get booted.

thank you.

The complete answer is a bit more complex.

Some servers allow you to run whatever addon you want to, but most don't.

Most will check addon signatures to verify you're not running cheat addons or bad stuff.

This doesn't mean you cannot have whatever you want on your system. It just means you need to launch the game with modfolders containing addons you can use on a server.

So it depends on how you use your system AND how the server is configured.

A good hint towards addon usage:

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER put an addon in the default /Addons folder in your Arma installation folder.

Put them in separate folders with a subfolder /Addons. Then use shortcuts or an armalauncher (my tool for example) to load the stuff you want.

This does not look like a completed addon, moving to A&M: D.

Yes, it is, BUT not only. It's a bit smarter that that:

It can also synk up with the server (if the server has yoma configed as well), and download mods allowed or needed by that particular server.

It also checks if you have the addon, so in that case it won't download it again
