Looking for voice actors for SP campaign (The Cause 2)

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right forum.

I'm looking for both male and female voices with russian accent. If you can speak Russian that's a bonus.

If anyone is interested drop me a line at rejenorst@hotmail.com

Please list:

Name:

Gender:

Age:

contact email:

Microphone type/ model and preamp if you have one:

Availability:

(Ie: how much time you have to record voices. This is just so I don't allocate you a main charachter part if you won't be available down the track.)

and if you have done any voice acting before let me know.

I will start recording my own voices in October/november. The parts vary in intensity, some will just be radio chatter for those with desktop mics etc. Those with better recording equipment and voices I'll allocate to ingame charachters in cutscenes/ingame.

Thank you.

Just a quick intro of the project:

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: ALSO ANYONE THAT CAN SPEAK CHEZK WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!!

And how will the rest of the world understand it? The fact is that alot more people speak english than russian. I say go with english but with russian accents.

i'm with Wass here.

Use Russian voices for Russian units with subtitles for all of us :D. And in case there is some USA soldiers or other nationalities use their own languages and again add subtitles even for English, many people can't speak English neither.

That would be the best in my opinion.

Funny.

But it really look so stupid, when russians in games or movies talk between them in english

for russians first of all :)

My mate sent an appliance for a part.

He is called Rulero, and though no Russian (we're Dutch) he can do a pretty cool Russian voice, although it probably will sound cheesy Russian hehe.

Anyways, he did a couple of voice-overs for one of my missions and he can create some cool sounds.

Hi Wass thanks for the link I will register with you guys soon, have bookmarked the site, I got the anti spam thing wrong over 6 times cause I couldn't read the letters :( so I have to wait a bit, but I will have a list of voices I need done after 12th september.

@ Sic I got your friend's request and his accent is pretty cool :) I'll definately be using him for some voices.

As far as the Russian/English question is concerned:

The character you play ingame is a Russian soldier who grew up overseas. Being a bearer of a Russian passport he had to do his military service in Russia but is not so fluent in Russian. He therefore prefers english.

I am contemplating several solutions to the problem as I know I can't do all the missions in total Russian:

A) Characters close/friends of/to the player speak english to him while alot of voices such as generic chatter will be Russian. For example when called to speak to a superior officer on a delicate matter while on base and he addresses you alone he may start with Russian and then switch to english 'I understand that your Russian is not so good, let us speak in English then as I need your full comprehension on this matter private.' Something along those lines etc.

B) Urgent messages over the radio could be english especially during intense combat.

C) Cutscenes will swing between Russian and english where appropriate.

Basically I can't do the entire missions in Russian, nor would I want to because I can't speak Russian and I really love to voice act. Spanish is easy enough to do phonetically but I am having a hard time with the Russian language and I may have to many time constraints.

If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Thanks

alternatively I could have someone record the dialogue slowly so I can phonetically parrot it in Russian.

Guess will see.

Something you could try in a pinch is this translation site.

After you translate something from English to Russian, a "megaphone" icon will pop up and if you click on it you will be redirected to an audio clip of the word(s) being read in Russian. I can imagine the translations are fairly rough, as most online translation programs are, but it's better than nothing :o

Thanks man, have been looking for something like this and it even allows me to slow down the speech. With this and the phonetic alphabet I can try and mimic the Russian a bit. :)

@Kozzy have sent you and email in response to your prevous email.

I was spending this morning just for the purpose of finding out if Rejenorst is continuing his amazing work in Arma 2 too! I am so happy to have discovered that you are indeed planning to make a release of the casue 2!

I think your campaign was one of the best experiences I had with ArmA and I am looking forward for the next chapter. I will move on now to comment on your Youtube intro.

Good luck!

Thanks man, I will hopefully have mission 1 finished in the next few days while mission 3 just needs to have the ending reajusted and added voice acting. Had to scratch mission 2 as it didn't tie in with the story but I might use a scene from it for story telling purposes. At the moment its just a pain to get small stuff done hehe.

I recorded a few czech yells for atmosphere using a text to speech program to mimic the pronounciation and then recording myself yelling it. Its Chernarussian after all so doesn't need to be 100% accurate.

For the Russian I am getting help from OTK to translate and do some recordings and then I can also use text to speech for pronounciations etc.

Mission 1 will be short but rather intense... I have been playing it over and over again, chaing this and that to get the right mix between atmos, gameplay fun, story telling and hopefully as much realism element as I can while spinning fiction.

Overall I hope to deliver a half decent, interesting and fun to play experience. Keeping my fingers crossed that it works out this way. If people want to comment and critique what they liked/hated about the original or what they would hate/like to see in this new version it would be much appreciated. Mission types/story elements/ anything.

Thanks, and thank you for the you tube comments :)
