ProfTournesol 956 Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) Impressive. I've never seen July the 14th military parade this way ! Edited August 22, 2009 by ProfTournesol English spelling (grrr...)
sparks50 0 Posted August 22, 2009 The magic of tilt-shift :) I especially liked the firetrucks, they genuinely looked like toys
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 23, 2009 I thought about buying a tilt shift lense but found out it actually is quite pricy. So I did an experiment with Sony Vegas and with a little bit of experimenting it works quite okay. To perfectionise it probably would take many hours .. time I dont have! :D Anyhow I especially love the tilt shift illusion because it makes you wonder how aliens see our society from far above.. ants fighting each other instead of working hand in hand. Dont expect too much, that was just one tiny miserable try: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNxrNBtN6gA
Colossus 2 Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) I'm curious, is this something of a new trend? I haven't seen this in any earlier years. I have seen this on a commercial, just a few weeks old. I'll try to track it down ^^ Edited August 24, 2009 by colossus
sparks50 0 Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) Here are some Arma screenshots with a fake tilt-shift effect added that I made some time ago. Its nowhere near as cool as Albert Schweitzers video though :) Edited August 23, 2009 by sparks50
soul_assassin 1750 Posted August 24, 2009 I watched through the whole video thinking it was actual toys. Didnt even think twice before I saw the smoke trails of the aircraft and thought wait a fucking minute how the fuck did he do that :):) great vid
stgn 39 Posted August 24, 2009 Very nice video, I thort it was toys until I had seen humans, then I thort no way you can animate somthing that small that good in those numbers. STGN

Sennacherib 0 Posted August 24, 2009 amazing, all is perfect (angles, music ...) I am admiring a toy army for a president who has the size of a toy :p
Balschoiw 0 Posted August 24, 2009 Nice :pet7: I´m currently working and experimenting with Unity engine and found out about this "look" by accident when rendering two viewports over each other with a DOF setting that concentrates exactly on a centred object that the camera(s) orbit around. One camera renders full details of the objects while the other one blurs out the surrounding. It´s quite funny as there are several moving vehicles in the scene and it looks incredibly toyish when they get into the detailed focus.
Macser_old 0 Posted August 24, 2009 It's a surreal effect.Especially when you realise it's live action you're watching. Here's another little example. Tilt shift At times it looks like a train set diorama, set in motion. :)
sanctuary 19 Posted August 24, 2009 Those videos are impressive. This tilt shifting technique rendering everything like if it was a diorama seems to be very efficient at it.
mosh 0 Posted August 24, 2009 Cool videos, I thought that shit was all done frame by frame with little army men and toys... Holy shit, wow that's cool stuff. Good discussion, I learned something today, and I want to try it.
