Frustrated bout that UAV, and many other things too ...

Can anyone please be so kind to write a understandable UAV

Manual? Yes, i searched the Forums, but no one seems to be able

to think more far than his own nosetip.

Why please, you all talking bout Q/Y W/A and tab and all that

- your very own - or even Standard keybinds? 50% of all dont play

with standard binds. So please just tell me (us) what are the

COMMANDS to change Altitude or Speed, NOT YOUR OWN BINDS!!!!!!!!!

I try to play that game since its (german) release, and everytime i try i'm getting frustratet more and more. Don't wanna dizz here, and i'm for sure a very patient person with all the will to explore something unknown, but understand me if it's getting too much after:a:) no manual. b:) a pilot who can't stfu ("Target that "whatever-bull'#%& ... no target" over 30 minutes in a queue) ans c:) a UAV smoothly steering into the ground after a while is too much.

Even the idea to make the camera "absolute" and not relative to the UAVs

motion is so phantasically stupid and unrealistic that i can't stop wondering

about people figuring out something. Sorry to say that.

So please: Write down a READABLE manual for that useless pile of crap flying

over krasnostv ( .. or krasno-however). You can't make things unhappend,

but you still have the chance to compensate dramatic negative feedback.

Big sorry, i've never ever had to write a feedback like that to any product.

For sure, i know ArmA2 is a very very, or even the most - ambitious projects

of a whole industry ever. Your Base-costomers are mostly Sim-Freaks, like i am. Even accepting the logigal challenge, creating a Sim like ArmA2 under the conditions of the free market economy is an act of real personal courage.

Noone can Pay that BloodSweatAndTears you gave. Paying tribute to BI,

buying a dvd and approving ArmA2 to his friends is the most u can expect from a custumer, make the last thing not hard for them.

I don't even bother using the UAV.

Have you updated to 1.03? Apparently its had some fixes but I haven't been able to check yet.

I believe the controls are the same as other aircraft but some things like up/down are dissabled in the campaign missions.

But without that the whole thing would be useless due to the camera shaking around constantly.:q:

controls: q-increases the altitude

The thing is already useless. The camera is shaking around and its impossible to keep it on target. Or have i missed something.

Has anyone got the UAV to actually go to the set speed / altitude?

I get the "SET" speed and "SET" altitude changing with keys, but the UAV never goes to that speed or altitude. It always flies just above the ground which makes targetting impossible.

I use the UAV alot, but I just use it for the hellfires. Return to base re-arm rinse and repeat.

I get it to go to the altitude i want plus speed. However if it sees enemies it will not obey. You need to remove the weapons from it for that one. Tested before with SAFE or CARELESS but it didnt help at the time.

The biggest issue in manual mode is that the camera cant be locked plus that the zoom is too weak. Bit more zoom plus a "stabilizor" ie being able to lock the camera where every you want on the ground would actually enable you to really search forest and villages, and also see what the threat is.

For auto mode like with the SOM module it works great. It flies around and show you targets on the map. Basically doing what it should. Would been great if we could do some action during this and give it coordinates where it could fly and give us info. As it is now it flies around as it wants to and then leaves.

Im looking forward to OpA as i really hope the UAV is updated in how it works as well as it's given the VBS2 FLIR.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one having problems with the UAV:s. I tried to use it in the Manhattan mission, but the thing was going so fast with the camera bouncing around I could not see anything at all. Useless. Hope this will be fixed.

I never use it as everytime i use it i get stuck in it and are unable to get back to normal gaming again

If the UAV had a gyro-stabilized camera it would be 100x better. It would also be nice if it made more of an ellipse-shaped orbit instead of straight, 90deg turn, straight, 90deg turn, etc.

Yeah the way they did it for Arma 1 is you could hit L to lock on a target... worked really really nice. Too bad that isn't here, but it's the way they did it: you're "controlling" the gunner, unlike in Arma 1 where they used a camera view instead.

I had a thought about that. I dont know much of anything about scripting yet however I remember using NonWonderDog's Tank Fire Control Systems located here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=63293. It has the feature to lase a target (using a rangfinder) and have the ability to keep its reticals on a target reguardless what the tank driver was doing. Maybe someone with enough skill in the scripting area can alter the script for that. Just a thought.
