Well, I don't think that trenches are so "old fashioned"..

They are still useful and I would like to have trenches, but

there is not much that I can do about it.. confused.gif

who cares about trenches.

I want to be able to dig foxholes (3 minute delay?) or hasties (1 minute?)

better yet, have one of those trucks that digs foxholes in 15 seconds smile.gif

I wish they had more buildings to enter. It would be awesome to enter a church as a sniper and being able to go up to the steeple and be a look out or take them out biggrin.gif

Trenches would be very usefull though

Yeah, lets have 'Spade soldiers'. They carry a spade on their back instead of a rocket launcher, and can use it to dig a trench. And as a last resort they can smack an enemy soldier round the head with it!

I don't need no stinkin' truck! That's what the enemy mortars are for! tounge.gif

Yep once we get the trenches all we need is some gas mask a gas artillery shell and we have a full set for WW1.

Trenches would be a bit extreme to program and would probably require major changes to the collision detection code. I would rather invest that amount of time in bridges and rivers, that would truely complete flashpoint and make it the best game ever made for years to come smile.gif If they had one river in resistance I would be the happiest person ever.

Trenches would be cool. I would also like the rivers too. But what would take the cake (in my mind) would be deformable terrain. Shallow craters from mortars, smaller ones from RPGs. Big ones from the A10 bombs. that sort of thing wink.gif

and maybe they could make it so that buildings (when destroyed) fall in to big heaps of rubble that you can hide in and shoot at things from

Could you imagine what that would do to any MP game?

With idiots firing left and right, the computer could be spending all it's processing on terraforming.

Trenches and Rivers are basically the same thing in Ofp, and it's not a problem to have them in the game, and when, and if, the terrain editor is released, someone is bound to make some nice maps with both in them.

Bridges are a bigger problem, if they are to be blown up that is. Either they are permanent fixtures, (= no blow-up) or they are like houses (= bad clipping).

Which would you prefer?

I never had a truck dig a foxhole for me! 1-3 minutes to dig one? Have you ever dug a fighting position? Especially in crappy terrain. You are looking at a few hours, especially to fill all those sandbags. Rivers would be cool, and to have the ability to swim. That is opening a whole new can of worms....

I thinking in game time. No one is going to wait a few hours in a single mission to dig a single fighting position. now, if they made it an "object" in the mission editor, that would be handy (negative space object I guess:) )

Dude come on! I was just joking. But many a time grumbling and severely sunburned did I wish I had a backhoe to dig a foxhole for me. We couldn't dig any in Alaska, permafrost!

Thehamster mentioned WW1. I would love to have the same game but fight during WW1 or during the US Civil War. I would love to fight with Jackson behind the stonewall at Fredericksburg, VA 1863 and repulse Burnside's Yankee advance with my Enfield .58 musket. A bayonet charge would be fun too.

I would like to see the shells eject from the weapons in OPF.

everything is possible...even tho it may be difficult, i am sure that you would dig them in wartime, why wouild you not do it as training at peacetime?...it takes a lot of "skill and knowledge" to dig one reasonable "fast" when teh ground is frozen.

in north finland (very near the arctic circle and santa claus) at winter we dug foxholes in the ground, but you cant use only a spade for it, you need this long metal "spear" thing to beat the ground to pieces.

its really hard work as to dig a simple foxhole (so you can barely sit in it) might take some five hours...depending on many things.

i hated the army at winter, mostly since the ground was so hard.

a foxhole in 3 min dude then its kinda small and you need to be Phronend to be hidden (when i was in the army we dug foxholes (boy did we..) and it took about 2-3 hours depending on sones and cleay)
