How do I command A.I. crewmen not to stick their heads out hatches?

Recommended Posts

In SUPERPOWERS, the LAV I buy comes with crewmen who always stick their heads out of the turret and driver hatches. There does not seem to be anyway to tell them to get down back inside.

Set their behaviour to combat maybe. If you're in the back I don't know if that works.

They stick their heads out of the hatch when they are set to safe... if you are the commander you can normally give a command *Turn in* that's what i do when driving about in my T-90 :D

Seems to be a bug,

1] The turn in command isnt available via command menu

2]When you enter the vehicle as a passenger you cant turn in to enable your crew to do so.

3] Also when a passenger of the vehicle the crew wont engage enemy even when fired upon until you exit the vehicle.

Give your team the order to stay aware or "alerted" if you're the teamleader. Otherwise you can't do much then listen to what order you're given. If you're editing your own mission you can set the units behavior at each waypoint, for example to safe, aware, combat etc. just like Jakerod wrote.

This is about the behavior exhibited specifically when you are a passenger in the vehicle, and it is bugged as Jingle describes. Crew will turn out and stay that way, ignoring all combat behaviors. Generic advice about setting the team to danger or editor technique does not apply. If you disembark, behavior returns to normal.

This appears to only happen (at least in SUPERPOWERS) at night time. I the day time, if I buy an LAV, all the crewmen are under the hatch.

Give one of them a smack on the back of his head next time he turns out. Hopefully that'll teach him. Unfortunately smacking isn't implemented in ArmA2, but getting out and getting into the vehicle once more solves the issue, as suggested above. I'd use that method, while we wait for a smack animation ;)

In the day time that seems to work. At night time I or one of my non-crewman A.I.'s have to sit in the driver, gunner, or commander seat to get the crewman to keep their heads down.

Alright, now it seems that (at least in Superpowers) everytime I enter an APC or a tank as squad leader, the crewmen stick their heads out. When I get out they go back in.

I have noticed this as well, when I am a passenger/squad leader in an LAV, BTR, BMP. Very irritating when my crewmen get killed by small-arms on the way to battle. Devs, please fix this in 1.04 .
