tobmic 10 Posted August 12, 2009 trucker phucker thats for nvidia card users ... the op has an ati graphics card. Try Catalyst 9.7 the newest driver maybe that helps. Maybe rollback your .cfg files
-TwK-Danny 0 Posted August 12, 2009 Isnt this the regular 8GB ram problem? Do you use the "-winxp" flag in your shortcut to arma2? You need to, as far as i know, when you have 8GB of RAM.
InFireBaptize 0 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) lot of people are complaining about this on the Ati forums, you should check their forums. This could be due to above, too much overclocking, too much heat, not enough power supply. Visiting Ati forums really scared me into not buying Ati for my next upgrade. I may swallow the extra cost and get nVidia card, will have to research more. Edited August 12, 2009 by InFireBaptize

I may swallow the extra cost and get nVidia card, will have to research more. and then there is me and everybody i play with that has a ATI card, 512mb or 1gb that do not have a issue at all... Hmmmm i guess its the 8gb issue...Like anybody posting the issue is ever going to use 8gb of system ram for anything...If they have to ask(about the issue) then they dont use VM, or do uber encoding, or run a RAM drive, let alone know anything about a scratch disk..., More poor saps who buy way too much ram for next to nothing in cost, to go along with there under performing Vidcards for there 24in LCD that they think can run this game. Stop the maddness. Pull our a few gigs of ram and be happy.
Swatman 0 Posted August 12, 2009 its not a problem with my computer.... ive been playing this game for months with no problem. i try playing it yesterday, this occurs. my video card is only 60 degrees when i play ARMA 2 and 45 degrees while idle. power supply is 620 watts and is enough to power half of manhatten probably haha. it is a problerm with ARMA2 just like the same problem was in ARMA 1. looks like operation flashpoint might be the better choice i guess ---------- Post added at 09:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:31 AM ---------- and then there is me and everybody i play with that has a ATI card, 512mb or 1gb that do not have a issue at all... canabisabusive 10 Posted August 14, 2009 hey that looks like my game! i downloaded the demo and the whole game looks like that. i have 12g ram; i7950; ati 4870. any game that goes to hell when there is too much ram is garbage anyway. ill go back to crysis and wait for MW2 thx
the BeltFed 10 Posted August 15, 2009 I am having the same video graphics problems. I also do have 8GB RAM on my Windows Vista 64 computer. The Arma II Demo and Arma II were working fine until I updated (clean install) my NVIDIA videocard drivers from the 186.18 to the newest 190.38. I have been able to play the game by reinstalling the older 186.18 NVIDIA videocard drivers. I am not very computer savvy so I could use some guidance on how to do the commandline -winxp to see if that solves the graphics problem. I have the non-Steam, retail DVD copy, of Arma II. I had the same problems with both the 1.02 Arma II patch or the 1.03 patch, so the version of Arma II is not an issue. I have also installed the EVGA SLI Enhancement recommended in this http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=76908 as well as the other recommendations on that post. My PC specs: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit 8GB DDR3 RAM 2 x BFG NVIDIA Geforce 280 GTX in SLI Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 @ stock 3.20 GHz EVGA nForce 790i SLI motherboard Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
nuggetz 0 Posted August 15, 2009 Right click on your arma2 shortcut, then in the target box, type in -winxp somewhere after the name of the game executable. If that doesn't work, hit the windows start button, select run, and then type in msconfig, click boot and choose advanced options, you should see maximum memory section or box, click the checkbox and type in 7680, reboot and start arma2,
the BeltFed 10 Posted August 16, 2009 nuggetz, Thank you for the instructions. I did it and it resolved this graphics problem. 1. Go to your desktop Arma II shortcut, right click on it and select 'Properties' 2. Under the 'Shortcut' tab, go to the 'Target' slot and at the end of it type -winxp after the quotation marks. It should look something like this: "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -winxp 3. Click 'Apply', then 'Ok' Hope this helps for all.
